  • I love you guys....

  • Ha ha, that bass player is nuts, I love his playing and his energy. These guys easily nailed a classic surf rock song, and for that they get major props!

  • You must be an excelent guitarist to make a good cover of such an instrumental surf and you are. Congratulations.

  • Brilliant....and I have seen Dick Dale in person.

  • Guitars look cool. Like a cross between Fender, Mosrite and maybe Rickenbacker.

  • greetings from greece!damn!this guitar player is very good!i like it better than the original...

  • I love this version!! Go Surf Coasters!!!

  • Less than a minute into it .... Expected the lead guitar to burst into frickin' flames! O..M...G...

  • Yes they are Yamaha SGV guitars. The Surf Coasters are coming back to the US in September 2008!

  • I hope they come to the east coast...

  • Please tell me this is true! East coast???? Please?

  • West Coast and maybe Las Vegas.

  • Oh well. As usual.......

  • Get on a plane. They are well worth it.

  • holy fuck.. thats incredible

  • these guys fucking rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • dear lord jesus those fuckers rock!!!!!

  • i really like the fast bass in this band.

kinda gives even more energy to the song.

more than in dick dales version ;)

  • It really does. That's the power of a good bassist. It's just a shame that most modern rock bands don't take advantage of all the instrument has to offer.

    .rai//

  • a truly amazing band!

  • very nice

  • the lead guitarist was dubbed "the prince of surf guitar" by dick dale

  • so glad to see that japan still loves surf

  • This is on fire!! The waves are still burning. This lead guitarist just smokes. His riffs are so strong, confident, they rip. He's having as much fun as it's legal to have, playing music he obviously enjoys and loves to wail on. Don't know if they ever recorded albums, but they should have.

  • They have a ton of albums.

  • big energy. tight.

  • As good as Dick Dale himself..at any stage of his career! Those guys rock...catching a perfect wave....!

  • That was excellent. Very tight band.

  • Lived right down the street from Old Ironsides when they played. DAMN IT!! Why didnt I go?????

  • excellente cover!

  • i agree all three members of this band can get down on their instruments. the cover is a+++

  • the original was a greek old song

  • they are all great, drummer guitarist and bassist.

  • WoW that guy is awesome

  • Great cover to a fuckin' kick ass song. That dude can play.

  • Whoa. I have to say even as a metalhead, this is the best cover I've ever heard in my life. Honestly, this guys kick ass :D

  • I first heard this song as the main theme in rayman, does anyone know where i can find that version?

  • Rayman's version came from The Black Eyed Peas' single "Pump It," the most famous versions are probably Dick Dale's and the Beach Boys'.

  • Freaggin awesome!! 5/5

  • to istultus: Yes they are Yamaha guitars, NOT parkers! Also this is a great cover of a GREAT, if not THE greatest surf song.

  • it's great, yes -- no question.

my own favorite though is by the Bobby Fuller Four.

  • damn so many people have covered this song

  • this song is greek. misirlou means egyptian girl in turkish because it was wrotten from greek refugees from west turkey

  • Actually Misirlou means a Muslim Egyptian girl in Greek. Its derived from the Turkish Misirli which means an Egyptian guy or girl. The Greek adapted versions Μισιρλής(guy) Μισιρλού(girl) has the -ού suffix which is indigenously Greek, and is used to make feminine forms of adjectives ending in a) --ης and b) --άς. ;)

  • In Greek there is a category of words adopted from Turkish in which the feminine suffix --ού is compulsory, and that is precisely the Mισιρλής type. The suffix --λής(male) and --λού(female) are an interesting extension of the --ού suffix in that it always has an --λ-, and the reason for this of course is that Greek has adopted -- en bloc -- words containing the Turkish suffix --lI, and, secondarily, even made it productive.

  • το ξερώ ρε φίλε έλληνας είμαι...

  • Greeks differentiate between Egyptian Muslims and Egyptian Christians. In Turkish Misirli is used for both all Egyptians no matter ones religion or geneder. This is not the case in Greek. An Egyptian Christian in Greek was Egyptios for men and Egyptiotissa for women; an Egyptian Muslim in Greek was Misirli for men and Misirlou for women. Greeks have male and female forms in their grammar.

  • The -ού suffix is indigenously Greek, and is used to make feminine forms of adjectives ending in a) --ης, b) --άς c) -λής. Misirlis=male form and Misirlou=female form in Greek. The title of the song is derived from the Greek Misirlou=Egyptian Muslim Girl.

  • why are asians so freaking awesome at everything?!..lol

  • Good question. This guy is all over Dick Dale. He has, by far, the most pleasing and technically sound version of this song I have ever heard. A guitar player.

  • I love this song so much XD

  • Estos compitas si rifan!

  • So, I gotta ask. What kind of guitar is that?!

  • They are playing Yamaha guitars.

  • Thanks. I just found out they're Yamaha SGV replicas. So I bought one yesterday off Ebay!

  • They're not exactly Yamaha... :-)

They're actually Parker guitars. Amazing state-of-the-art guitars.

  • Uh, yes they are Yahama guitars. I was there. The guitar is a SGV-800.

  • when i get better at guitar, ill call up my friends and were gonna play this song

    these guys motivate me

    theyre so impressive

  • insanity

  • i've watched this clip a couple thousand times and i still have my mouth open. i'm totally homo for them..

  • these dudes ripped it up.

  • Also resembles an extended live recording of miserlou Bobby Fuller's band recorded in the early 60's, which is probably one of the best versions I've ever heard.

  • I love how they threw in Malaguena as well. Very nice.

  • the bassist is totally awesome.. what happened to the band? did they quit?

  • Yes, sadly the Surf Coasters broke up earlier this year.

  • thats miserlou and unknown territory in combined. i like it.

  • The arrangement is actually derived from Dick Dale's "Miserlou Twist".

  • Those guys are good. i like the matching guitar and bass. ;)

  • Play this music with GuitarFreaks & DrumMania V.

  • Wow! Those guys blew the roof of that place!! Awesome!!

  • I've seen these dudes before... unbelievable!!! Japanese!!! That guitarist has the chops! Have you seen that Crazy Beagle vid with the miserlou soundtrack?

  • The kid's got the goods.

    Dick would be pleased.
