  • P***** !! c'est dur de jouer à ce point elegant, couard et en place. BRAVO. Concert top prod pour les années 80.

  • Love this band have done since 1985i love the music and the lyrics to the songs they hold so much meaning and two songs remind me of my first love, wish they were all back together.

  • This is awesome. I have this DVD of Level 42 at Wembly, this cut and the Running in the Family songs are not on it. Is there another DVD with these perfomances included?

  • Outstanding. My favourite band forever.

  • I totally agree.

The original line up was the best.

I had the luck to them two times in Copenhagen back in the 80's

Philip Gould was and still is an inspiration to my way of drumming.

  • got my tickets for the oxford date in october. Been waiting to see Level 42 for about 2 years now, im 18 years old now and i reckon i must be close to being one of the youngest hardcore fans!!

  • Morgan, thanks for a fantastic post! That Jaydee tone combined with that massive back line of Trace Elliots is intoxicating. Great change at 04:17, that's why Level will always be the end all be all for me. NYC 23 2010!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Level 42 totally underrated band, deserved so much more for their brilliant music x

  • Alternative Rock with Coffee , yeah, I can smell It , They Really Know How TO MAke good Music. ITs a Wonderful Song, So Beautiful.

  • This is Jazz mixed with Alternative Rock, also with Funky , It really sounds AWESOME. A rhythm seemed to Maroon 5. LEVEL 42 knows HOW TO MAKE GOOD MUSIC, Yeah. They're so WONDERFUL.

  • Probably even better than Porcaro

  • simply awesome band, possibly the best live band ever

  • one of my all time fav songs....one of my main influences on the drums came out of this track back in 85-86 ...my main song responsible for getting me into drums was tears for fears "shout" but this track help to convince me drums was for me

  • Great comments about the drums guys !

Phil had the great sense of space in his playing .....just playing a fraction late gave the 2 and 4 back feel that was his groove.

Listen to the fills on Pursuit of Accidents....they sit just slightly out of the song feel.....the art of drumming on one disc.......

  • I love the way phil can change from open hand to crossed over. Illan Rubin (Nine Inch Nails) is another great open hand player. Gives you freedom around the kit and you can whack the snare harder!

  • Englands Jeff Porcaro

  • Love this funky & groovy little ditty...and Mark had to be @ his sexiest when this was filmed. Meow!!

  • slow groove of the century and amazing lyrics

  • Such a great groove phill has . A subtle ,but huge difference in the feel.Gary is a great drummer ,its just a feel thing on this early material. Such a huge chorus sound Mark has, Huge ,fat and Analog ,I bet.Like that J.D.

  • thanks

  • Brilliant - this should never have been cut from the Live at Wembley vid. Thanks for posting.

  • morgan.

you have footage of Micro kid from this concert? I lover that version!

You already porsted printemps de bourges. cool stuff as well..

  • Killer band from back in the day. Phil Gould groovin hard with his left hand on the hi-hat. The cat is totally ambidextrous. Friggin amazin. One of the best up there with Jeff Porcaro, Richie Hayward, Manu Katche' & Carlos Vega.

  • Snare sounds great. He has such a good sense of time

  • C'était quand Phill et Boon était encore dans le groupe.

  • Get back together Phil, Boon, Mike and Mark!!! World needs your music now....we miss you guys BIG TIME !!

  • AMEN!!! And hurry and get your asses here to Dallas. America is calling you!!! Hurry!!!!

  • Bring them to the Northeast too...preferably to CT, but NYC would be good too|!

  • Ya you frickin Limeys, get yer ass over here to North America. Get off that silly little island...it's going to sink.

  • @GTAMEDIAPRODUCTIONS : I couldn't agree with you MORE!!!

  • WOW from the world tour. Amasing, thanks for posting. Just awesome. You got any more?

  • The music and lyrics are just amazing! Does anyone know if this song is about abortion?

"Perfected in silence a physical presence" Just curious.

  • haha wow i thought he said "if i did in silence, a physical presence" and i kept wondering "what the hell does that mean?!" thanks for clearing that up for me :)

  • Hi,

I am from the states, sometimes the words come to my ears a bit different .

I was also wondering if this could be about a man who couldn't perform every time and had a lover that was less than forgiving? I guess it is all subjective, in any event, they are the best!!!

  • Damn......Mike is very busy on this tune....How he holds it all together is beyongd me.

  • mike is busy on every tune, his work rate during every concert (especially this one) is unbelievable

  • Many LFT fans vote the World Machine album as their favourite. I do. It was my first album and i can't count how many times i played it...Perfected in silence , a physical presence...takes just one look to know i'm still mesmerized!!

  • Thanks for the great post Morgan!

  • Mike's playing is insane on this! He plays the bassline and chord impros all at the same time - and that's not forgetting that his singing too!

  • Yes Mike is great, but the bass line unison with Mark is sequencer

  • No it's not - look at his left hand on the Prophet!

  • Music with bite, BRAVO!

    Patty

  • You can see it wasn't for the Wembley vid as the editing wasn;t as good as the rest. Great vid and song live tho. I like the crackling on my turntable when I play this record. Thanks Morgan

  • thank you for post it

  • I have an audio recording of this performance, I never realized that it came from the Wembley video. Thanks for sharing this Morgan!

  • Is this at Wembley, because I've got the DVD and this isn't on it, how did you get this?

  • ...stealthy...

  • The end made the fur on me arms stand up. L42 almost reformed a couple of years ago, but it went belly up, and I was devastated. Phil has his own myspace page, and has just released his new album. Without a doubt the most talented group of guys ever to hail from our shores. Respect. Dug mcleod

  • I've been looking for this video for a while. I'm a bass player and Level 42 is one of the bands I've been interested in for many of years. They are one of the best groove band ever to come out. Love everything they've done

  • What about Australia at this time. Dont forget us. And nz. But I love this band. Ilove Stevie...Earth Wind and Fire. This not there smooothest version. The album World Machince has the best version.

  • I've heard this song so many times and in so many versions. This is the most rustic I have heard it. Listen to the last verse when Mike's octaves go up and the song takes on a completely different feel. You'll know when you here it. Don't forget Mike goes Sopranno!!! (You'll know) All the best...

  • I've always found that the british bands were more artistical and talented in their music and songwriting than the american bands. The same can be said of Canadian artist. The US has alot of catching up to do. The problem with the US is that real talent has taken a backseat to corporate, talentless, sampled, unoriginal rubbish by 'artist' that don't write or play any of their music that they've bought off real songwriters.

  • Well of course, after all the Beatles, the Stones, the Byrds, ELP, ELO, Jethro Tull, Black Sabbath and many more before the 80's groups like Level 42, Shakatak, Swing Out Sister, Everything But the Girl, Incognito,

Tears for Fears, on & on...Were all British bands. The States best original artists have always been in the Jazz genre of music. The problem is ....even American Jazz artists get more play time in Europe and are bigger stars there!

  • I wonder why this wasn't on the video when it came out on VHS?

  • This wasn't and there was also Micro kid which was awesome and Ritf all were cut which was a shame.Micro kid was impeccable.

  • Simply stunning!!

  • This track and the World Machine album are what first got me into Level42. An incredible track from an incredible band. It always amazes me that L42 are about the only band I've come across who sound better live than they do in the studio (and they're damn good in the studio!!) Talent by the bucket-load!

  • This was a B-side to a single... cant remember which, Morgan, could you elaborate?

    The BEST, though!

  • Level 42: It's Over [1987] single

  • My favorite Level 42 jam! World Machine was a great album. the bass playing is unreal!

  • This is SOO GOOD it´s redicolous!! Well done, Morgan!

  • Nice one! Looks like it should have been included in the LIVE AT WEMBLEY Vhs (as well as the DVD?) I have the vhs and the setting looks exactly like this, but this tune wasnt included on it. Wish it was, must have been other tunes I'm sure WHERE ARE THOSE CUTS? Hope to see some of those as well......

  • MOrgan do you have Micro kid from the same dvd.

  • hmm that figures lol

  • Morgan, c'est vraiment INCROYABLE!!! J'ADORE TA MUSIQUE - ca resonne avec moi au fonds profonds - c'est absolument SUPER! Felicitations - "Chapeau"! Avec amour toujours, Pamela

  • I went to that gig i believe it was quality.Great band who are also 'great' live

  • i saw them only once live .. in canada in 1987 ... something i ll never forget though :)

  • Morgan thank you for posting this :) .. i ve already seen a few videos from this DVD .. .yet another one i need to save up for .. 'sigh' !

  • Far as I know this track is off a very rare laser disc release. December 86 Live At Wembley I think.

  • You can also find this track on the LP (!) World Machine (1985).
