  • gudene vil vente tålmodig for de som vil omfavne dette mesterverket

  • I can't breath

  • Oh.

    My.

    God.

    This is so incredibly beautiful.

  • i REALLY love this whole performance, I have it on cd somewhere, great on lonely, rainy nights!

  • chapter 3 is my favorite!

  • 3 poor individuals don't know what music is.

  • @Beartrucci: Or they have fat or slippery fingers...

  • The instrument in question appears to be some form of lithophone. If anyone's interested, keyword search "soniccouture", which is the name of a company that sells soft synth sound libraries, go to their products page, and check out "The Skiddaw Stones", which has a lot of useful information and sound demos about this kind of instrument.

  • I just uploaded Odin Raven Magic Ch. 5 to youtube. It's the best chapter in my opinion, although I love ch. 3 as well!

  • ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC! To think such majestic music could be inspired by Odin still. Did the All Father proud! Well done to all invovled!

  • Sublime.

  • Their instrument is so cool !

  • I found this video whilst looking for a piece called Odin's Song. It's funny, you uploaded this on my birthday.....thanks.

  • I hadn't heard this in about 6 years and have been looking for the title every since. I finally found it, I'm bout ready to cry tears of baby joy

  • @ezzylock Hilmar Örn is fantastic but actually Sigur Rós's part in the composition was greater, or so I've heard. It's not been released yet but there have long been plans to release it on CD and DVD

  • what in the heck is that instrument???? is it a stone xylophone?

  • @11willf It's a marimba, pretty much like a huge xylophone made of wood and stone.

  • @Steb54 Litophone

  • @Steb54 Would it still be classified as a marimba though, despite having stone keys? (I'm an actual marimba player and find this extremely intriguing.

  • @ChestertheBigRedDog I guess it could be classified in a Marimba sub-genre, and its real name might be "Lithophone", although the one Sigur Ros is using in this video seems to be pretty unique. :)

  • @11willf Já, ert heiti steinaharp. A Stone Harp...

  • @11willf if you watch the Heima documentary, they made this stone marimba from pieces of sheet rock, accompanied by some dude who lives in the mountains and makes instruments out of natural materials.

  • @11willf It's a marimba, one of the band members made it by collecting pieces of rock in Iceland. There's a tiny bit about it in the documentary Heima about a tour Sigur Ros did in Iceland.

  • Odin's Alles Vather

  • One of best song i'have heard

  • that was pretty cool

  • -fuckig awesome-

    thanks for posting this

  • anyone who enjoyed this ought to listen to Chapter 5 of Raven Magic, you can find it on grooveshark.

  • A recording of this piece is available for free download on the Sigur Ros website, on the "media" page.

  • One of the most beautiful songs in existence....

  • It's also notable to point out to others that this isn't just Sigur Ros as the title would imply. This whole composition was a collaborative effort by Sigur Ros and other Icelandic musicians.

  • brings back childhood memories. i loved to read all of the nordic mythology books in primary school. and other than that, the song is absolutely stunning to begin with. especially the instrument made out of rocks i think it was? it was feautured on the Heima film as well :)

  • whats the name of the cd that can be found of this online??

  • I dont think it has been released yet, probably never will...

  • @Steb54 this hasn't been released on cd and they have no intention of doing so, however, there is a bootleg of it. Search around you might find it, if not PM me

  • Damn

  • @Steb54 I have it record, but in mp3.

  • @ezzylock It's actually the last track on the Screaming Masterpiece soundtrack. I purchased it as soon as I found it, myself. It's available on amazon.

  • @ezzylock The only cd that can be found of the music is from this concert. It's very good quality.

  • @ezzylock

the cd is: Sigur Rós & Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson - Odin's Raven Magic - Live at the Barbican Hall

  • @ezzylock Hilmar örn Hilmarsson is the main guy on this I assume it would be in his stuff.

  • @ezzylock It actually was released right after it first came out for free on sigur ros's website. But it was just a recording of this one time performance. You can DL a remastered version of it just google "victoryrosemusic odin" and it should be ur first result

  • @ezzylock isn´t it "odin´s raven magic"? maybe you can find it as part of Sigur Rós´s music... at least i found it that way...

  • @ezzylock, i have this show in mp3 format. Try to find on torrents.

  • @ezzylock Óðin's Raven Magic

  • @eberjair thanks for that :D

  • Nice one.

  • ^ ^,

    B E A U T I F U L

  • nice crescendo

  • @za316653

it`s not the nothing song. It is Chapter 3, or Odins Raven Magic.

  • what song from sigur ros is this

  • this is music made for an ancient icelandic poem

  • It's about the pagan god Odin. Hail Odin! He had two ravens as messengers /helpers. I love the way paganism is accepted in Iceland!

  • Does anyone know if there's a cd available with this piece or the whole concert???

    Thx!! they're genious!!

  • You can buy the Screaming Masterpiece cd..All Icelandic music and this is on there.

  • this isn't on that cd

  • there was a cd sold of this, but only in iceland. you can find it online though

  • You can download it for free at the Sigur Rós site.

  • No hyperbole, this is probably my favorite live performance of all-time. "Wonderful" just doesn't do it justice.

  • @GudjonU

    thanks ;)

a friend sent me a link to the rehearsal of this song and I saw the instrument - it is really something!!!

I just heard of them about month ago when I got a CD for my birthday, but I was immediately addicted :)

  • such a discovery, amazing!!!

  • @istra2009

It's absolutely amazing, and the fact that the "ðing pong" Instrument is made out of woodboards and blocks of cliffrocks..

I'm Icelandic myself and a big fan og Sigurrós, this instrumental masterpiece is probably one of the few things that I'm proudest of that has made it to "nation wide" community :)

  • is the music a tiny bit out of syn with the video? Love it.

  • music

  • Truely Amazing! Bravo Bravo

  • This is Music.

  • c'est magique

  • I' can't just believe!!!!!! This and other sigur ros song's speaking with my soul directly

  • Epic.... Love Sigur Rós <3

  • Bravo!

  • best chapter of them all! Chapter 3! Apparently Jonsi (sigur ros singer) is blind in his right eye, just like Odin.

  • Yes that came to my mind too that little connection! And look how skilled and special they both are! ;)

  • yeah you're right. Odin's called 'one-eye' often in the Edda...

  • @WelfareChrist

    Not quite...

  • @WelfareChrist

...Odin wasn't blind in his right eye; he ripped it out himself. Bit of a difference there...

  • @ben1782

Point was that they both can't see out of their right eye. I used blind as in 'can't see' so I think it still holds - if he ripped his eye out it stands to reason that he can't see with his right eye. The parallel was interesting to me, but I never held it to be historically accurate.

  • Wow..blew me away- simply amazing. i want this song on CD!

  • I must wonder why this was not released! It's amazing!

    Sigur Ros = Wonderful. :)

  • You can get it from their site if I'm not mistaken...

  • i'm waiting for the DVD. I believe it should be release this year.

  • oh my god it's fantastic!!!!!

  • Does anybody know the name of the strange but exceptional instrument they have played in this video?

    Excellent definetively

  • This was shown in Heima movie - it is a xylophone made of different stones found in nature - it was made by some artist whose name I forgot. But as I said, it's all in the movie... Excellent though.

  • The have gathered some rocks and put it togheter to a marimba. It's really cool!

  • m i thing is a marimba

  • simply amazing...one big vibretion

  • effing amazing where can i download this from?

  • it gives me von(hope):P

  • Absolutely beautiful, I am blown away...

  • Here 4:04

  • Best melody ever.

  • Probably not any time soon because of this last tour. Does anyone know when they will release this.

  • great vid

im on cam and bored jy

  • Ooooh I wanna see this live!! :)

  • Can I not download this song!? I just might cry!

  • It's available as a free download on their website

  • just great

  • Gorgeous............

  • simply gorgeous :)))))))

  • Increible! Los sigo desde que descubrí el Agaetis Byrjun en el 2000. No he encontrado otro grupo que me haya impactado tanto. Su discografia deberia ser objeto de estudio! :D

    Salud para todos!

  • heard this song in 2002 months before the birth of my daughter. somehow this song gave me an accurate vision of the birth of our daughter.

  • Love it.

  • los amo!

  • It's just wonderfull.

  • This is the song of north, feel it.

  • OMG this is awesome!

  • To answer your question, dinglasan13,the instrument they are all playing in the beginning of the song is called "Steinharpa" in icelandic(a harp made out of stone). A farmer in Húsafell, Iceland, made this harp all by himself. The rocks are from a landslide close to his home.

  • the sigur ros site said it. it is no surprise that it has been delayed, most likely due to sr recording a new ablum. it will be released at some point.

  • I can't wait till they release it as a whole. Well...I hope they do :)

  • This is just great! I cant stop watching it!..

  • could anyone tell me what instruments were used in the string section of the orchestra? i'd really appreciate it

  • Plus, considering Sigur Ros has just released "heima", it i, indeed, unlikely that they release "Odin's Raven Magic" any time soon. :(

  • Well it's a big collaboration, Sigur Rós aren't the only people who have say in what happens with it you know.

  • This is probably my fav tune from this but its hard to say for sure.

But if you listen to the commentary of Heima, the manager says that they really want to release it. They just have a little bit more editing on it.

  • This is freaking brilliant.

  • This is so awesome.

  • Hey, thanks a lot! Can't wait! :)

  • It's a shame they haven't recorded this to an ep/album.. or have they??

  • Its going to be on the next album :)

  • Mmmmmm... :)

This is simply _the greatest_ song EVER :D

    I just love Sigur Ros!

  • Absolutely incredible!!!

  • Wonderfull!!!!

  • Fabulous!

  • This is indeed beautiful.

  • I was in Reykjavik with my 9 year old daughter for this concert and it was simply incredible.

  • (Although I believe this video is from the Paris concert)

  • odin's raven magic is one of the most beautiful things i've ever heard, not just from sigur ros, but from every musician.

  • One of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard!

I dedicated this song to my Father when he passed.

    Thanks Sigur Ros!

  • un-freaking-believable!...sigur ros are gods

  • GREAT
