@Rolwhite Keep an eye on your cities. If you build too much farms for the food your cities will grow too fast, generating unhappiness. Keep an eye on luxury-fields too. Sometimes you have to capture villages or citiy-states which have access to luxuries. Another and better option is to make the city-states your friends. There is also the option to discover technologies granting you the possibility to build churches etc, which increase the happiness :)
@AnalogBurnout did you just suggest I commit suicide and that no one would miss me because I was having a little fun? Who's really the asshole that no one'd miss here?
thats not what i mean. i'm just saying that my companion cavalry loses all the moves once it crosses the enemy's border so it cannot attack on the same move. this happens even if i am close to the border and cross on the second move (first move: come to the border, second move: cross the border, and then all of the calvary's 5 moves are out). maybe this is the new patch or whatever, but i cannot reproduce what you showed here.
i see that you can attack the capital during the same move as you declare the war. when i play this, whenever i enter enemy's territory, my units are out of moves after crossing their border. so at most i can approach their capital but cannot attack during the same move, and, consequently, lose all my units.
@000304538 what can I answer to that? plan and execute your attack accordingly? don't attack if you don't have enough units? scout enemy territory before declaring war? all these things are kinda obvious
I'm tinkering with a strategy like yours in the current build of the game. I start my attack much earlier to steal their worker (or ideally settler) whilst removing a couple of their attack units from play and getting paid to withdraw for 10 turns (and friendly status with the civ to boot).
Haven't used it for a very quick victory like this yet, but it is showing such absurd efficiency that I'm sure I could refine it to pull off something like this even with the changes to the game via patches.
Least aggressive? You kidding, India falls into the group of those cigs not to trust, Russia, Spain, Germany and India switch might be friends then switch and are very aggressive.
Any is there any opponent who's typically weak against military or has poor defenses? I know if you set it to random you may get civs with good early start military units but not if there's a specific civ you might WANT as an opponent.
@zeeman155 Ghandi is usually the least aggresive. The nations you don't want as opponents are: Greece, China, Aztecs, Japan, Rome, Siam and France. The others show a similar level of aggression and difficulty to play against.
Lol, watch this in full screen. I guarantee you involuntarily move your mouse to the places you would normally if you were playing the game. I noticed I was doing it, but I still couldn't stop. xD
thanks mate! that video helped a lot! played against english. elizabeth attacked me first and i had just 3 warriors! but i won! :D 4 turns later got firstst champion :)
I can almost never get the right map for this, e.g. no horses in my city, and when I finally get there my units are to weak to take on their capital it seems.. But I think it will work if I try many times.
Sometimes, things just work out really nicely.

@000304538 there are a few possibilities why this happens, but none of them is the fault of a patch:
1. You are moving through a difficult terrain
2. Opponent has built The Great Wall
3. You are moving next to enemy units
4. You are moving next to enemy city
I didn't do any of these things in my video
