wait.. in this scene is will coming to meet them after ten years or is he leaving and has spent the day with them? btw will is amaaazzingly hot in this <3
@SohieA20 no, he gets to be with them forever! Davy Jones could step once every 10 years on land because he disobeyed the code and conduct for his duty, hence the deformed appearance etc. Will strictly obided the rules and served the full 10 years! so someone else would take his position
what's supposed to happen, was that will stays on the flying dutchman for 10 years, and if elizabeth stayed loyal to him while he remained doing his job, then after 10 years he's supposed to be able to return to land again without having to return to the dutchman.
Apparently the conversation between calypso/tia and davy jones earlier in the film was supposed to explain that
088261, That's sort of right. Will had to serve 1 decade before he could spend the rest of his life on land. However, I believe he could come back to the living every year for one day because someone else will ferry souls too and he needs to be with his wife and son as much as possible.
they say everytime the green flash happens a soul comes back from the after life whether it be davy or will or any random guy as long as they come back the green flash will happen.
Will's father explained that he gets 'one day on land, ten years at sea.' He can't just leave because someone has to captain the Flying Dutchman. It's sad, but that's what makes it such a good love story.
Indeed. :) The "happily ever after" is nice but boring. Whereas eternally in love yet always apart is more moving. I get misty eyes whenever I watch this scene.
What pests the directors are to force one to sit through the credit to enjoy it, LOL.
Happily ever after isn't boring and lovers being apart but eternally in love is a crappy story. The only good love stories are the ones with happy endings. If the lovers don't get a happy ending, the story is crap, simple as that. However, this story isn't crap so Will&Elizabeth got a happily ever after. Will got to be with Elizabeth b/c he only served 1 DECADE because she was faithful and he did his job. That's why Jones got pissed at Calypso because he could've been free.
DarkFireKitty, Will DOES get to leave after 1 decade. The Dutchman must have a Captain, but not the same one. The writers have explained that if a Captain had a love that was true to him for 10 yrs. he could go free to be with her forever. Hence, Will was free. Bootstrap didn't say forever when he said it to Will. The whole point of this scene is him coming home 4 good. If he was still Captain, it'd be sunrise in the scene. Sad stories are crappy. That's y Disney only does happy stories.
I wonder why was this scene after the credits? Everyone starts walking out then and they don't see the part where Will finally gets to step on land and he can see his son and wife forever instead of just for a little while. I love this scene!
they shouldve chose a younger looking kid, it looks like will turner #3 looks like her lil brother instead of her son. how old is she in this movie? in the 1st one she was 17?
Wow! You added this a month ago? Dang, I guess I gave up a TAD bit earlier than that. Thanks dude! This is so awesome, and with such great quality. Great to see it again! :D Thanks dude! :D

I wonder how they live on that island...
Anyways!
That's a beautiful scene. :]
Kinda sucks for Will to stay on the Flying Dutchman for 10 years!
And only 1 day on land with his family!
[ if that's right ]
But still, beautiful scene.

I think he can stay on shore with Elizabeth because she was waiting for him.
That is why DJ was mad at that other woman because she wasn't waiting for him after his ten years were over he so he had to go back to the FD.
