Easily my favorite version of this song (I love these lyrics best, combined with Mark Knopfler), and it's one of my favorite Chieftains tunes. It's haunted me for 15 years, since it came out.

I play the old Irish tunes for my grandchildren, as was done for us when we were children - my father loved the bagpipes -we clap, dance, sing with loads of laughs...my 3 children learned Paddy McGhintey's (sp?) Goat from my father and are still singing it and teaching to their children...the true traditional Irish music will stayy as alive as we make it ourselves...and to hell with the rest of thee world...
