I definitely feel you on MIDI and OCRemix. That's why none, absolutely none, of my tunes are in that site; mine all start out as MIDI.

NWC is great. I should probably see about actually getting off my ass and actually buying an updated version. If indeed they've updated it since 2004.

The update to NWC is actually free if you have the old version. I started to use "Noteworthy Composer 2". There's very little difference in terms of MIDI composition. There's some extra options for adding instrument patches, for example if you wanted to use other banks... but it handles pretty much the same.

Yeah, I'm familiar with OCR. Problem with the site is, the songs that are uploaded have to be approved by administrative "judges" before being archived. Not to mention they are biased against MIDI music. I do my own work, yes, but facts are facts: This is MIDI.

This isn't a total loss, however. I heard from djpretzel some time back, asking to mirror some of my songs on a MIDI archive they were supposedly starting. I'm in the dark on the current status on that, however. Time will tell.

ah, but not all stuff there is made with real instruments. your samples sound pretty well. i beleive that as long as the music doesnt sound too much like 8bit, then it may have a chance to be there. contact them, and send them a song. you cant lose anything.

@silentzorah Have you ever considered there is a reason they are biased against MIDI? If you can tell that it's a midi, there is usually a problem with the instrumentation.

@Erghest I'm not really complaining about it. I'm just noting that midi work like my own just doesn't fit in. This was evident with the Metroid OCR mix "Hemorrhoid", which was actually just a midi from VGMusic run through a synth. You could tell it was midi, and you could tell transitions were not nearly as elaborate.

Personally, I'm not one for OCR mixes anymore. I haven't been for some time. It's just not interesting to me anymore.
