I have to disagree about the overuse of Blobby. This was a family show. I was a child when it was on and I thought that Mr Blobby was the funniest thing in the world. I think they got the balance just right between adult and child humour.
@tomh9876 Blobby wasn't the sole reason for the downfall of the show. But he became the emblem of the lazy slapstick lack of content which overwhelmed the show in increasing measure as the years went by.
Blobby became a gap-filler for when they needed to string out what little else they had to offer.
*director "Blobby, go beat up Noel for a couple of minutes until the segment with the gunge".

People, Noel's House Party got annoying for the public because it just outlived the novelty value the public perceived in it: victim of its own hype.
The creativity of a made-up village which seemed to be self-contained within the doorways of a mock mansion..it was genuinely intriguing, Noel running from one part to another like a theme park show. It was like a huge televisual dolls house, and so the concept was actually outstanding and original (and really ripped off by Ant & Dec!).
Absolutely - so many shows just had Noel and Blobby throwing stuff at each other rolling around on the floor. It's ironic that Live and Kicking in it's dying dies also went on Blobby overload, as did the Generation game - he's just a lazy filler for production teams running out of ideas!
In response to this over-reliance blobby was dropped from the final series. So apart from his inevitable reappearance on the last ever episode, this is his last regular appearance on the show.
Noel Edmunds was annoying then

Did Edmonds take the piss out of Tony Slattery's bipolar disorder at the start of this clip?
Did Blobby use his position on a prime time BBC One show to promote the commercial interests of the AA?

he probably did, so what?

has anyone got the end of series 6? Didn't they "blow up" the Great House which led to the revamp in series 7?

Agree with that. Revamping the set didn't help. But you can't argue that Mr Blobby was used as a time filler on many an occasion...?

.....And THAT'S what went wrong with Noel's House Party. Speaks for itself really. doesn't it?

More evidence of how the House Party relied on Mr Blobby throughout it's final years.

So they just ended up shifting him to Live & Kicking and The Generation Game instead!
