  • it was awesome when that little girl turned into Keith Hernandez. who knew how her life would end up!

  • Not a muscle bound guy in the group. Gotta love 90's ballplayers. The song was cool tho

  • After viewing this, I had to scrape the cheese off my monitor with a putty knife.

  • @DontCancelThisAcctYT maybe you should cut down on jacking off to all that porn

  • Yeah..catch the rising stars...the cocaine use, alcoholism, smoking in the clubhouse, starting fights in bars, causing brawls on the field, and abusing women...what a bunch of role models.

  • @zman1974 what a great season it was

  • WOR was such a cost conscience indie station during the days of analog TV...but always was faithful to the Mets with these promos.

  • the fat man on 00:14 cracks me up.

  • WOW, this commerical brings back memories. I remember it like yesterday.

I was 15 in 85 and this was the great Mets - Cardinals penant race that year.

85 also had the Yankees - BlueJays penant race that was great.

  • I always thought this was a cute litte ditty

  • shut up

  • Nice one.

  • What is the name the this song? Cheesy but catchy.

  • Who sang that? Richie Havens?

  • That was the most colorful team in baseball

  • bostonbaseball78,

You are a racist pig -- must have taken after your mother. You talk alot of smack on the computer. Racisit cowards like you should come to NY. Since you dislike blacks so much, why don't you, on your next visit to Yankee stadium, open your fat racist foul mouth. I guarantee you, you won't make it back to Boston. No go back and play with your mother. Piece of crap.

  • Not a Mets fan, but I think the Mets should retire the numbers of Dwight Gooden, Mike Piazza, Keith Hernandez, Darryl Strawberry, and John Franco.

  • And Gary Carter!

  • I don't know about Carter. He was a great player, but he didn't play that long with the Mets.

  • as much as id like to see it they wont retire darrly and doc because of the drugs

  • They should do it anyway. Gooden and Strawberry played huge roles in the mets 1986 World Series. I can't believe the mets haven't retired any players numbers from the 1986 team.

  • Is the singer of this promo Gary Pourtney (the guy who sang the Cheers theme?)

  • Gary Carter and Keith Hernandez were the best! Great Upload! 5 Stars!

  • wasnt the 1985 yankees promo catch the aging stars lol

  • I know. The Yankees suck donkey balls! ;)

  • @richmjr67 LMFAO!!!

  • Actually, this station's call sign was WOR-TV in 1985. In 1987, an extra W was added to the station's call sign. Mets Games were brodcast on WWOR until 1998 when they switched to WPIX-TV. It's a coincidence because the Yankees used to be broadcasted on WPIX, which some of the Mets games are brodcasted on now. And now, some of the Yankees games are now broadcated on WWOR, the Mets former station.

  • Yeah they should think of going back to WWOR and the Yankees should go back to PIX not that it's a big deal but it it doesn't seem right having the mets on PIX

  • I remember that campaign for WOR-TV's NY Mets Baseball back in 1985 was Catch the Rising Stars and I hear this song in my brain!

  • I use to watch WWOR like religion when I was living up north, don't remember this promo (was a little young) but just seeing the old look brought back memories, how much longer will we wait for another world title?

  • I posted this AWESOME old commercial on my Met site BrooklynmetfanDOTcom

    brooklynmetfanDOTcom/?p=531#comments

    Thanks!

  • BTW, it was still WOR-TV in 1985 (no extra "W" yet).

  • This was actually the theme in 1985. 1986 was "Bring it Home Mets".

  • i agree with you

  • you're right, I'll change it.

  • yeah and 1983/84 it was "the magic is back"

  • In 1986, the Mets turned from rising stars into legends when they took the '86 title.

  • hell yeah, and I was at the Bill Buckner error game! Best baseball game in history!!

  • At my school in Hawthorne, NY we got the videotaped copy from that game includin the local WNBC news that aired on that night.

  • post it

  • awesome
