You know what made 90's dance music so great? Because it had strong melodies in it's songs. Now a days it's all about finding the most popular producer who can produce the ''hottest beats''.

Techno is meant to be beat driven and less focused on melody. What producers are doing these days is taking the worst features of house and techno and combining them to make the attrocity that is electro house. Boring undancable rhythms and no soul or melody.
