  • I was fortunate enough to see 1 of their last concerts before that freebird crashed... might not be a southern man but it hit us yanks hard too... can't listen to the new lineup.... aint the same...

  • Them boys was cookin'!!!!!

  • the best live band ever !

  • Agreed. None better and never will be!!! I mean it. My father Doc Murphy looked just like Ronnie. Just like him and never put up with no shit. Would beat you down or give the shirt off his back just don't be an ass clown. Freakin awesome just like my father. None better!!!!

  • Artimus for President...

  • HOLY SHIT...... You're Ronnie Van Zant...... You've already got Gary Rossington and Allen Collins in your band, two of the alltime best guitarists in Rock n Roll history..... And then Steve Gaines joins the band... Unbelievable. The absolute best, tightest lineup ever...

  • @rkl17 Agreed!!!

  • I´m 18 years old and i love the skynyrds

    R.I.P. Ronnie Van Zant

  • @treylemoine ---LOL, good one, bro!! I know Stevie is laughing at that one in heaven.

RIP all the fallen Skynyrd brethren.

  • for me the black and white, or monochrome, works.

    thanks.

  • Billy Powell wasn't a very impressing appearence but his playing will shut up anyone. Even Mozart, who performed for the Austrian Emperor when he was 8 years old, would have been blown away by Billy.

  • i think you meant 7th star !!! AMAZING ..... and to the idiot about the twang.... it's southern rock and skynyrd twang rocks !!! AND ALWAYS WILL

  • Can't touch this!

  • STEVE GAINES JAMMED RIP

  • I like Blackfoot a lot more than Skynyrd, but there's no denying Ronnie stage presence, one badass Mofo for sure

  • @yak45900 Comparing Skynyrd to any other band, opinions don't matter. Skynyrd IS better than all the others :P

Funny how you like Blackfoot while your man Rickey Medlocke is now working for Skynyrd haha

  • I miss Ronnie and the boys...

  • Artimus Pyle is one of my favorite drummers. He played cool syncopated, off-beat rhythms and off-beat accents in 4/4, and didn't crash all the time.

  • @theShowStopper321 I don't know about the 4/4 thing (I never had music lessons) but I share your meaning, he had his own style and he drummed awesome.

And, he looked like Jesus ;) Check Free Bird BBC 1975, and you'll know what I mean

  • @theShowStopper321 yeah i was just thinking about how much better Artimus Pyle is than Bob Burns

  • @ACDC7369 Funny thing..Ed King says Artimus never learned the songs like the record and Bob was so much easier to pick with. Says when the did the RRHOF Show it was like putting on an old pair of shoes "IT WAS COMFORTABLE"...

  • I miss all these guys.

  • No Ronnie, Thank You.

  • Skynyrd was so talented, I just wish, guitar wise they had a heavier sound, less of that twangy stuff.

  • I wish Judy VZ Gennisse,Rossington,King,Pyle,Burns Collins,Wilkerson,& Powel

Famils can put all bad blood behind to put out more dvd videos out of the original

    band in the '70s.All of this,their shows from Winterland-SF,CA '75 & '76 should v'e

all been included in the FREE BIRD Movie. Peace, Fly On FREE BIRDS.....

  • SKYNYRD=just the greatest there is!!!

  • Lightning in a bottle. Period.

  • Steve was burning it up that night

  • Awesome .... as always...

  • check out Artimus @ 00:30

  • Love the transition into "Ain't the One" at 6:00

  • KICKS SUTHERN FRIED ASS!

  • fucking tape trips out over steve gaines' solo - figures. gay

  • @kidwithoutgun I got the same copy it does it there too...should've heard us when we saw it for the first time....lol oooooh shit!!!

  • @kidwithoutgun it barely trips out over his solo so get over it

  • @wormhero1 The tape totally douches from 3:36-3:41 - right in the middle of the fucking solo. it's my favorite solo of his and that sucks. it didn't ruin my fucking day or anything, but that's all i had to say about this video - you gonna be ok with that?

should i have come back later and posted a comment letting you know that i've been over it for a few months?

  • little boys in a big world

  • ha she released em all what bitch, never paid a dime

  • ha she released em all what bitch, never paid a dime

  • so fuckin awesome

  • never can figure out what is on Steves shirt...looks like Kenny from southpark...that freaks me out

  • @TonyBeazley Haha. It does, at least the outline of it.

  • @ Bassntx,

Yeah I know. He was very down to earth and that reflected back on stage and on record in the songs he wrote. Ronnie IS my favorite songwriter. And the amazing thing is...HE NEVER WROTE ANYTHING DOWN!! He was a raw genius.

  • @lpmccook Ronnie was always in charge. He was the singer-song

writer-frontman performer & Skynyrd conductor. Although, everyone

wrote the songs, he had the most influence on what direction they

    went in!!!

  • Grabs ya by tha balls and don't let go !!!

  • @rjcole83,

Oh yes! Definitely!! I love how Ronnie had a lot of confidence and that portrays deeply through this footage. All of the leads by the guitars or billy's piano are extremely diverse. Each had their own style and tone!! Lynyrd Skynyrd is definitely my favorite band beside the Allmans of course!! Thanks for posting back!

  • I agree ... Ronnie has a lot of confidence for sure. But he never intentionally made himself the focus of the band. He never danced like Mick Jaegger and flaunted his stuff. He made sure he gave equal time to each of his band members.

  • @Bassntx! I dig what you had to say Brother and I totally agree with you!

  • @lpmccook, very astute comment, this version has a nastier, bad ass feel to it.

  • I like the pace of this version of Workin for Mca. If you didn't notice, it is a bit more slower than what is featured on OMFTR or Second Helping. Love Gary's Les Paul and Ronnie's stage presence!!

  • @lpmccook ---- This version allows the guys to really show some great work doesnt it?

  • When I see this, I really want my long hair back, dam!

  • 8:27 Steve jumps in with Allen on solo- so cool!!

  • Nothing like a live sound track right out of the analog sound board onto a tape. Thats how it was done back then. No effects other than what was comming out of the instruments, basic foot pedals, and the amps.!!!

  • I aint the one is on fire

  • awesome

  • Man, what a way to begin a concert!! How many times have I heard these and other songs by the original Skynyrd and they still sound REAL GOOD!!!

  • This much have been right before the plane crash

  • Best band of all time

  • now where's the 6th star to rate this?

  • Ronnie was Commander In Chief of that band. Watch how he takes control of the stage and the mules

  • haha thats bad ass dude.

  • Yeah, Ronnie was the General Lee of the southern rock!!!

  • I hope someone release this concerts in full on DVD!

  • they definetly take their sweet ole time in the beginning i like that

  • Was this Video taken from the JFK concert with Peter Frampton? Great stuff!

  • No. All of the black&white live video on here with Ronnie and Steve Gaines was from a concert in Asbury Park, New Jersey in July of 1977. You're right, great stuff !!!!

  • DEAR GOD!

WHERE DID YOU GET THIS VIDEO? i WOULD LOVE TO HAVE IT IN MY COLLECTION.

LONG LYVE SKYNYRD AND LONG LIVE THE SOUTH!

  • Hey everybody if you havent seen them yet check out blackberry smoke. Great band but they dont top skynyrd in my books

  • No other band will ever top skynyrd

  • RVZ and GR are the epitomy of cool

  • they were all cool

  • What Is this Intro?

  • love Allen's solo in this!

  • Saw them in concert right before the plane crash, the first and only time

  • I love this song. I'll put it against any best song from an other band!! simply great among the best

  • steve pushed allan they would have brought out 3 more killer albums at least and been as big as aerosmith bigger even name wise they alreay are legends but i mean crossover status

  • hallucinant!! pas plus à dire!

  • Gaines NEVER TOOK HIS GUITAR OFF..They said if you went to his room..He would have it on..He watched TV with it..He ate with it..He never took it off...And Ronnie called Gary Rossington "Pretty Boy" and " Pretty Boy" for the way he got the girls...

  • i thought it was prince charming that ronnie called gary

  • it was

  • Your right Ronnie called Gary "Prince Charming and "Pretty Boy" because he had a way with the ladies...

  • you would think he would be the shy one hiding behind his hair

  • greatest southern rock band there ever was

steve gaines must have been born with a guitar in his hands

  • perhaps the greatest band there ever was

  • i believe they are. Though, they will never get the respect they deserve

  • They really won't. I think they are so under rated.

  • I love how they hit the stage with the Music from "The Magnificent Seven".

  • The Magnificent Seven what´s that?

  • Movie from 1960 about seven hired gunslingers that protect a Mexican Village from bandito's.

  • aha cool I never seen that one

  • super sexy

  • I always wanted to look like a young Gary Rossington. I bet he got all the chicks back in the day.

  • this footage is priceless you have done a great job any chance of burning to a disc I d pay big bux for the set thanks great job

  • Steve Gaines is just awesome, and so is the whole gang.

  • check this out. during one of their concerts, Leon saw a kid in a wheel chair, and motioned someone to help him on stage. well, when the boy got on stage, leon took the boys' hands and raised them up,to look like the letter v as in victory. well, after the show, the band took the boy backstage, and shared their pizza a drinks with him. later, someone asked Ronnie why he had made the PR stunt, Ronnie said, "I didn't do it for pr,it was from the heart."

  • "Life is so strange yes indeed." Some are so talented too spend there time on this earth touching the average mans soul with there song. Lynyrd Skynyrd has done this many times over! But one by one they seem to leave us as one did today . Lord bless you Billy Powell, go fly with the free birds..

  • it odd how they just seem to leave. i mean with Freebird, it's almost as if they knew something.

  • This is awesome, Hey Tony, do you have any footage of the 'Needle And The Spoon'?

  • lmao - wat was that at 6:10??! "GITTER DONE" ?!?!?

LOVE THE POST MANG - THNX

    SKYNYRD 4EVER!

  • 6:10 " Here we go"

  • NOW!yes, one and only Ron Allen Gary Leon Billy

    Artimus Steve,Ed and Bob.the Originals

  • Can't get enough of the 1972 - 1977 Skynyrd videos.

    Thanks and keep them coming.

  • Trop cool!!

  • I hope Judy VanZant Jennesse" will put this

whole show on dvd video also their complete

    '75 and '76 WinterLand-SF,CA shows and also

shows from '73 and '74 on dvd video. She has

been through alot, but so have all the fans.

  • this lineup and era best live show ever by far

  • Lynyrd Skynyrd - "Celebrated 1970s Southern Rock Band that elevated the guitar solo to a high art form." NYT 5/9/08

  • I can't thank you enough for posting this.

  • hey just wanna thank the person that put this on man this is rare again thank you keep on do you got any early hank jr

  • That line-up was untouchable

  • These fellas rock like no band today can imagine doing so. From the heart and natural, not the "Look at me" mentality of this day and age.

  • I know!!! I'm 14 and don't liten to nothing but 60's and 70's rock n roll cause theres none of that look at me bull Its no fun to play like that!

  • God bless ya, bro! Its nice to see a few kids of your generation listening to these gods of rock. To me, all the rock up to 1995 was stellar. After that, it all went downhill. I recommend listening to the classics as well as Metallica, early GnR, The Cult, Pantera, Slayer, Tool, Danzig, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Alice in Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Warrior Soul, The Misfits, Ramones, Clash, Pistols, The Pogues, Motorhead, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and of course the mighty Sabbath and AC/DC.

  • That was the theme from the movie "THE MAGNIFICENT SEVEN" they used that to come on stage...Sadly after this Concert July 13,1977 in Asbury Park, New Jersey it would all end...

  • too bad for the overlay on the screen. great quality of the music however.

  • 1977 dude. NO such thing as digital

  • Very Fantastic! What a treat to see them open the show. Thank you so much for posting this.
