Had one of those nasty things on the side of my knee when i was 10, thankfully it was tiny compared to that, it was like a spot at first, after putting some sort of cream on it and a cotton wool bandage the top layer of skin vanished so when i pulled the bandage off the core of the carbuncle was visible, it was 3 yellow heads, was nasty, left a tiny scar hardly visible, not had one since and it's been 12 years.
@SimonFred90 Couldn't agree with you buddy! It also cleared my skin in just 12days and it never came back. I was using different treatments for months and my skin never seemed to clear up. But with using that acne solution program, my skin has never felt or looked better. Anyway, you interchange the site name. It should be StopAcneNow.co.cc
In my other post, I forgot to mention the pain. That is a real problem with these. In the hospital, these are dressed with a variety of dressings depending on how which doctor wants it done according to how they practice. Lots of time it's with antibiotic soaked sterile gauze or some sort of wet to dry dressing to act as a wick to absorb away the infection. Substances which make up the dressing vary d/o how the doctor managing the site prefers to practice. Very good question. Respectfully, RN.
Have you been tested for diabetes? Don't put it off. A wound that won't heal, constant urinating especially late at night, and constant thirst for water are all syptomes of diabetes. And your wound looks like an ulcer.
@CindyE041464 Yep, sounds like diabetes to me. Especially if your parents and/or brothers/sisters are diabetic. You just about can't avoid being diabetic. RN
@freqlink That's a very good question. Diabetes makes ANY sore spot, like this one or many others, very difficult to heal. The complete explaination is complex and lengthy in medical terms, so I'll spare you the technical details. It's just that if the patient has this carbuncle from the MRSA with the complex additional problem of difficulty in wound healing caused secondary to diabetes, it's twice as hard to make it heal or even harder. Thus the attention to blood sugar & related problems. RN
@LDDavis911 Thanks. She's definitely better, but the scar is still there. Unfortunately, with MRSA, there is the chance of it coming back. She had two others on her bum (looks like the bermuda triangle) that appeared within a couple months, but with antibiotics they cleared up in a couple weeks.
yeah, a doctor visit was necessary....still nearly 3 months later and it is not totally healed. A scar and a scab is left, healing the deep tissue because instead of leaking out it sort of clumped out and left a hole that took forever to heal.

@Angryrnmedic Not sure why you guys are saying diabetes. Is MRSA related to diabetes at all?

@CindyE041464 it wasnt an ulcer. its a carbuncle from MRSA. The wound healed after quite some time, but it was painful and nasty.

what the hell is a carbuncle?
cherchee 11 months ago
@cherchee A carbuncle is an extensive skin eruption, similar to but larger than a boil, with several openings: caused by staphylococcal infection.

Wow! That looks so painful. I hope you're feeling better now.
