Beatrix Potter was disturbed for writing this... It is hard to watch, promotes animal cruelty to children, and is just sad. I first saw it in second grade. It upset me then and upsets me today. I'm 20.

@Clayton0001 You have to take into account when this story was actually written which was around 1907. Such ideology was not frowned upon as much as it is today. However, no character is Mrs. Potter's stories were ever harmed or hurt...

On the other hand, despite us feeling sorry for Tom Kitten lol, the tales of Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten, and Pigling Bland were some of the most beloved stories of our childhood for most of this and brings back wonderful memories...

@Clayton0001 I wouldn't say it promotes animal cruelty at all... quite the opposite. We root for Tom and feel sorry him. The rats are demonised for their behaviour and get their just desserts by being forced out. I think it has a good moral, and if I ever have children they'll be raised on a healthy diet of Beatrix Potter just like I was!

This video is one of my earliest memories. I don't even think I knew what was going on, but it has been in the recesses of my mind for the past 18 years, and I could only vaguely remember it's existence. It has taken me MONTHS of searching to find this. It makes me so happy to see this video and, quite frankly, sad at the same time that THIS was the kind of horrific stuff I was watching as a child.
