Tadesse is such a champ. To have the balls to run under world record pace for at least the last 5 laps against the best distance runner ever is unbelievable. This was easily one of the most exciting 10ks I've ever seen.
The only thing Ethiopians take pride in them self is with their Airlines or Athletes. Other than that Ethiopians living abroad (in US & Europe) , are too ashamed of them self coz the only thing their country is known for, to the outside world is that of famine, hunger, diseases, HIV / AIDS, War and Poverty. It seems they have forgotten the reality! Wake up Ethiopians. .
I hate to say this, but to win like this........to never be beaten........to know his manager Jos Hermens has definitive links to doping.......I don't think he is legit. He was injured almost all year for God's sake, then comes back and destroys everyone like this on decreased training???? I dont think its possible.
You have to be in the stadium to watch Bekele running 10,000m.Beleive when he does the final lap and sprints, you will feel goosebumps and wil definitely stand up and cheer.Beleive me.It's electrifying.
@JoshMcRay The man is the fastest half marathoner in history, a former world XC champion, a four time-world half marathon champion, and here he won a silver medal. So his form doesn't appeal to the eyes: he is a great champion, and while a more fluid stride like Bekele's seems to eat him in these track and most XC races, Tadese is a well-respected member of the running community. Let him run the way he wants.
@JoshMcRay The actual reason he runs like that is because when he used to run 10km to school every morning, he'd be holding his books in his arms. It's just the way he learned.
@bijection765 More like Lasse Viren's winning run in the 1976 Olympics... especially if Tadese goes on to win the Olympic Marathon in 2016 (like Lopes).
@bigdthomas123 gr8 ur honestly ur 3000m is 14 seconds better me but gr8 keep up the gd work
my 1500m: 4.30 3000m:9.44 5km:16.31 10km:34.01 halfmarathon:1hour.16mins and i just did my first marathon a few days ago which is marathon:2hours.48 mins
@bigdthomas123 cCngratulations, i've ran all of those races too but you know what? Neither of us will ever beat him, be never had the upbringing he had, if we were born having to run to school and back everyday, we might, but it will never happen. sorry to crush your dreams.
i'l soon beat you and bekele because i run 1500m,3000,5000m,10000m and the half marathon i joined the half marathon and did not stop whats ur timing for all of these
Bekele is practically inhuman. To blow by Tades who himself was FLYING and beat him by such a wide margin and destroy everybody else.....simply awe inspiring.
Are you kidding me? After that incredible last lap... he didn't even look exhausted? Everyone else on the track was falling over from exhaustion! Yeah - Bekele is a great runner, but I agree.... the acronym "EPO" does suspiciously come to mind?
@ilkkavu The like of you never lack lame excuses when you get trashed by these brave Africans. FYI, EPO is a mainstay for many western athlets than Africans.
this is insane!!! this guy is a legend among legends!!! we dont give him enough credit cuz we dont realize how tough a 10K is!!! I ran a 10K a week and that's enough!! i cant imagine the number of miles Bekele is running a week!!!
@toby099 well nike has started the oregon project which uses air thinning technology. The runners live in a specially designed house where filters are used to remove oxygen from the air to simulate that the athletes are living at high elevation, living at altitude causes the athlete to develop more red blood cells, increasing athletic performance. one of the athletes is dathan ritzenhein (he placed 6th in this race and holds the american record in 5000m) theres hope for americans.
@mahavishnuxc Got everything about right, except one thing: Ritz 'held,' not holds, the american 5000m record. Two Americans, Bernard Lagat and Chris Solinsky, have faster performances.
@YiftertheShifter1 your right i hadnt checked up on chris solinsky, his PR is about a second faster than D-Ritz and bernard lagat holds the record at :54, but i dont like to count him because he is not a "true" american. but even though i was wrong about D-ritz's record, you helped me prove my point that we are becoming faster and are able to compete with the east africans who dominate track and cross country. i hope that one day we will be able to beat them.
I guess it would help him because the 10k is about both speed and stamina, but it won't help him that much. Roids definitely wouldn't help in a longer distance race like the half marathon or the marathon.
@heathcoat1 just some random guy, who weight lifts. and uh runs all the time lol. keep in mind only a handful of Americans went under 28. U need serious genes proper elite training to break 30, let alone 28.
@JosephZ777 yes you do have a chance you just need to work harder, try to beat that time. Or try to be close to the world record then you'll be better lol
That was amazing he finished way before everyone else not even looking tired, then here comes everyone else having to do an extra 1 or 2 laps, and by the time theyre done bekeles already done with his victory lap. He is beast.

it depends it can go either way. of course its gonna take a good ammount of training depending what kind of runner u are. but really its gonna take at least some natural ability. no worries just train hard and u might get it
I think genetics... It's very hard time to pass below 30 ... I started run 5 years ago and during this time I run more of 80 competions in 10.000, my best time ever is 32:26 and I use quit races around 33 min. I think I couldn't pass below 30 min. (I'm 21 old now and 10km is my speciality)
32:26 is my best time ever in 10km, this year I scored my 2' best time on 10km with 32:43 (running in asphalt), I use to run the 5000 too I have my best time on it (16:13) scored last year in 18 october (on the track) I run only one time 10.000 on the track (34:26)
Training is important to involve times, I train 3\4 times at week and this recent period was full of competitions 4 me, next sunday I will have the national championship on 10 km (field) I already was in torino 2 week ago to run 4 km, training is important and it's important to not exceed with sugar and salt and drink lot of water
he may have run 53 in athens, but he didn't jog the last 100 throwin up the victory pump the entire way. lol. i think bekele's last 100 was like 20 seconds. i realize that is an exaggeration, but i'm sure he could have cracked 12 seconds for that last 100 if he had to.
respect to tadese. he's great runner.

32:26 is my best time ever in 10km, this year I scored my 2' best time on 10km with 32:43 (running in asphalt), I use to run the 5000 too I have my best time on it (16:13) scored last year in 18 october (on the track) I run only one time 10.000 on the track (34:26)

You are hell of an elite runner!
I've been running for 5 months and still could not pass the 48 minutes barrier for 10K! And my 5K just stuck at 23 min @_@

thank you! ^_^
Training is important to involve times, I train 3\4 times at week and this recent period was full of competitions 4 me, next sunday I will have the national championship on 10 km (field) I already was in torino 2 week ago to run 4 km, training is important and it's important to not exceed with sugar and salt and drink lot of water

57 seconds for the last 400m of a 10,000m race. I don't know if I can even do that time in a single 400m distance. Crap!!!

he did 53 in athens

he may have run 53 in athens, but he didn't jog the last 100 throwin up the victory pump the entire way. lol. i think bekele's last 100 was like 20 seconds. i realize that is an exaggeration, but i'm sure he could have cracked 12 seconds for that last 100 if he had to.

@MeMyselfNndI Bekele and Haile have raced eight times. Since 2003, Bekele has won all races vs. Haile (three 10000s and one 5000).
