Oh my!!! Karen Mason! My dear Karen we all shared so many warm and lovely and musical nights here in Chicago at LePub in the 1970's. We cheered you. We applauded you. You became ours. And your dear dear Brian Lasser, composer, painist, friend....gone too soon. It's such a pleasure Karen to see and here you today on You Tube: We Never Ran Out of Love!! And Chicago never ran out of love for you!! God Bless sweet voice! Richard Johnson Chicago
I like to think that I account for at least half of the views of this video. Each time I see it I find something else to love in either the song, the performance or both.
I've known Karen since was a 19-year-old college student in Mt. Prospect, IL. She was starring in Once Upon A Mattress in a community theater nearby. I played the Minstrel. She was very close to her parents, who were her biggest fans. She is a very talented, funny and delightful person.
I've been sending this to all of my friends who have lost their parents or someone they love. It's a magnificent song sung by an extraordinary caberet singer.
I remember Karen from about 30 years ago, singing at Center Stage in Chicago. I'm imagining she's singing about Brian Lasser, but it doesn't really matter. Her sense of timing, passion, and sincerity all combine to make this a song for anyone, who's lost someone special! BRAVA!
