hachiko's death was not only caused by old age,but filarial worms were also part of his death. and they found yakatori sticks in his stomach :(

This was such a beautiful story I wish I had a dog that was just as loyal as hachiko, just thinking about him brings tears to my eyes. Hachiko was a beautiful dog (then again all Akitas are beautiful dogs). This ending was beautifully shot and handled perfectly. This movie was just as good as the remake that came years later.

A true testament and tribute to not only loyalty of Hachi but to the potential loyalty of all dogs and animals if all owners and non-owners alike treat their pets and other animals with adoring love and care like the professor did. Show them respect and loyalty and they will return the favor. Other animals may not be as intelligent as we are, nor can we communicate with them, but that does not mean we can permitted to hurt or kill them just as we are not permitted to hurt and kill eachother.
