There is a chance it was a broken wire or faulty connection as well, alot of vibrations can cause problems as well, though people will usually blame the brand
DX7 had many problems and was put on recall as was the DX6i and DX8...the DX6i has been problem free for a while now and DX8 got a software update after its recall and any remaining problematic DX7's were also given the same software update
@FlyingAvenger yes i did, and futaba has problems too, a friend of mine was flying his seagull edge the other day, and he lost the signal between his 2.4ghz futaba and the plane.. i guess none of them is signal proof.
@gazzazh Try The Hitec Aurora 9, it's been great for me. Not to mention it's software upgradeable Tx & Rx, it's got a touch screen, 30 model memory, & interchangeable modules to run futaba, spektrum, JR, and so on...
airtronics and JR only sir, i have seen this happen lots of times with dxi systems and new futaba a little twitchy sometimes too. i would not even take dxi for free!!
@dsldrvr69 Spektrum and JR radios are the same. Both use DSM2 as their standard though Spektrum now released DSMX, which is better for large events. He is far, far away from 2.4ghz interference. DSM2 (Even DSM1 i.e. DX6) should be rock solid.
@ograymare yeah i am sure, cause i checked the battery after the crash and it was fully charged. This is not the first time i have problems with AR500 Receiver's. I stopped using this model, the Ar6200 and 7000 are much more reliable.
@betofazzo Spektrum radios are quite good. He did not experience a lock-out or a hold. At least, it is doubtful. A blinking light means the RX lost power. He needs to check the battery pack or the BEC. Also, a servo can become stalled/shorted causing the same thing... I used to swear Spektrum kept having issues locking me out, but it turned out to be cheap Corona Digital Servos shorting my RX. The system wouldn't boot. Instantly unplugging the bad servo and it would come to life.
if so the engine will splutter and exessive smoke will exit the exaust
there are 2 needle valves which need to be set before the evo engines run correctly
it looks like the low speed needle was too rich/ too far clockwise , this causes erratic transition from idle to full throttle if you keep the engine at idle for more than 10 seconds it clogs up in fuel till it burns off when you raise the throttle
When your receiver blinks it may mean you have a brownout condition. This happens when your receiver voltage drops too low because of current load (you're forcing your servos, weak battery, etc), which may reboot your receiver and make you lose control for a couple of seconds.
Note that getting a good voltage out of your battery without current load does not necessarily mean it's full. If it's a bad battery or if it's not charged properly the voltage will drop considerably once you power up
I Believe it was a binding error from my part. I did not bind the TX and RX as per the instructions on the manual. When the binding process was done the RX should have been solid orange, but instead it was blinking... Cheers
found out why my plane was acting up. it had a bum tx. got a new one under warrenty. now i'm having trouble starting it are you useing an electric start or chicken stick.
@gazzazh If you did not bind the RX, it would NEVER have worked at all -t he RX wouldn't recognize your Radio! A blinking LED means the receiver rebooted but the radio didn't (Power Failure). To test, turn the radio OFF then ON. Plug in the battery pack on a Plane and the RX will go solid orange. Now, unplug the plane and plug it back in... it will blink indicating a power failure. Sometimes a power failure is caused by a stalled servo shorting the RX or drawing too much from the BEC.
i wish they had one of these with atleast the dx6i for bargain similiar to dx5e, i need to atleast have delta/ail mixing on the radio, and have only a parkflyer dx6 radio atm,
im thinking about geting this for a first nitro plane its crazy that its only cost 300 if it comes with a dx7 and do u have to break the moter in thanks
HI, This plane comes with a DX5 and not DX7, i bought that separately. The engine comes pre-run, and no engine break in is required. Another option is buy the Hangar 9 Arrow, very easy to assemble, and you can add an Evolution trainer engine and get the DX7.
Their is a couple of options out their, The alpha 40 has everything you need to start flying, and will take around a day to build at the most. Hangar 9 builds great planes and i would recommend this plane to anyone i know. Enjoy.
The same thing might have happened. I think it is the only logical outcome since my battery was still full after the crash. We live and learn. I hope i binded my solo trainer correct this time. Cheers ans thanks for the comment

in defense of spektrum my dx8 has performed flawlessly even with a metal pin in it to hold on antennae (brother sat on it :( ) (it does use dsmx)

@dsldrvr69 i would take one for free, but i woud only use it for parkzone bnf planes, anything else gets the futaba treatment

Are you sure that it was the receiver and not just a low battery

Bad glowplug or rich low needle setting..even bad fuel cause this

@gazzazh Blinking orange means you had a brown-out due to low battery voltage. Were you using a 4.8 pack?
