i once sang this song for a disabled little girl who wouldnt calm down. somehow i remembered the words and my lack of masculin voice helped a lot. to my surprise, she stopped freaking out and let me shower her. this song has some magical feel to it. that same night she got up in the night with seizures, this song came into my mouth again as i held her and again she calmed down. thanks for posting. brings back so many memories i had lost in my depression. this song even matches her. love you lexi

This is a beautiful version of one of my favourite Yeats poems. My mother is from Sligo and I spent every summer there as a kid, and indeed caught many a trout in Glencar. I know those 'pools among the rushes' well. It's a haunting place under the shadow of Benbulben. The Waterboys also did a great version in the late 80's, worth checking out.
Her first songs that I ever heard were live recordings so when i actually bought a studio album I was kind of how can she sound better live than recorded but she actually sounds great either way. But live recordings have more depth and Stolen child is such a great song :)

Loreena McKennitt's beautiful music and voice remind me of why I love music so much. I first heard her wonderful voice one autumn Saturday evening in my garage while listening to NPR's Hearts of Space and have been hooked ever since. In my opinion she has the best voice I have ever heard, male or female. it is crisp, clear, soft, powerful and incredibly moving. Not only is her singing voice captivating but her speaking voice is so poised, soft and elegant. She is extremely well-spoken.

Her first songs that I ever heard were live recordings so when i actually bought a studio album I was kind of how can she sound better live than recorded but she actually sounds great either way. But live recordings have more depth and Stolen child is such a great song :)

Loreena McKennitt's beautiful music and voice remind me of why I love music so much. I first heard her wonderful voice one autumn Saturday evening in my garage while listening to NPR's Hearts of Space and have been hooked ever since. In my opinion she has the best voice I have ever heard, male or female. it is crisp, clear, soft, powerful and incredibly moving. Not only is her singing voice captivating but her speaking voice is so poised, soft and elegant. She is extremely well-spoken.

Interesting on piano. I like the harp better, but it's great this way too. The guitar solo is a great addition compared to the album version.
