Strange thing in SG-1, after killing, I'll go with 100s of Go'uld, Earth doesn't keep the Go'uld ships. OK, they do have a few, but they should by rights have 50+. At least the cargo and bomber types.
Esp when they took down Cronus. How is it that Cronus is a system lord with seemingly 1 mothership??? Or did the other ones join "real" gods after finding out that Cronus was dead?
@notsureyou Cronus had other mothership's - however he only had one Ha'tak with him at Juna as his fleet was needed elsewhere (AKA battling Apophis with the other System Lords)
@notsureyou I'am pretty sure Apophis was still alive and kicking, If my memory serves me correctly the episode with Cronus on Juna was before the Vorash epsidoe where SG1/the Tok'ra made the star go Nova and in the process wiped out much of the fleet that Apophis had assembled.

@bigwhitehound this is explained quite easally - I forget the episode, but one of the Jaffa said that for centuries when one Goa'uld System Lord is killed either by a rival or by a underling that underlord or rival absorbs the System Lord's resources. Additionally a lot of Goa'uld hardware probably fell into the hands of the Free Jaffa and Tok'ra - remember by season 8 the Free Jaffa had a fleet of Ha'taks.
I know that, but still with the way the SGC was killing off Goa'uld there's no reason earth couldn't have picked up at least a dozen cargo ships and more than 1 al'kas. Not everything would have been absorbed that fast. It's not like one minute a Goa'uld a dies and the next its followers are serving another. The real reason is of course, the writhes, director of the show wanted earth ships, so that's what they got.
@bigwhitehound well Earth has had a number of cargo ships over the years, at least one Al'kesh (Maby 2), and 2 Ha'taks for short periods of times. However keep in mind that the objective of the SGC was to acquire advanced technology to defend Earth against Goa'uld / Ailens. Thus using that logic It makes little sense to acquire technology that is equal to or less advanced than the latest Goa'uld technology, and it is more logical to acquire more advanced technology such as Asgard or Aincent.
@Jackneill45 Also I should point out that had Earth been more aggressive in going for Goa'uld technology rather than eventually acquiring Asgard technology they would have had little chance defeating the Ori or the Wraith. The end outcome for the Tau'ri being that Earth is now much more advanced than both the Goa'uld and the Wraith.

I think the statement is more in regard to probability of hitting the target, as if one is sufficient distance from the target, though your fire won't decelerate any amount, the ship would undoubtedly move, thus rendering the shot ineffective.

I Also believe that they would have explosive timers on them, just like you said the explosives would continue to travel until hitting something which could have horrible effects in the future.
@llamameal1 there are many other factors you need to be aware of though... out of range usually means that the accuracy of that turret is too low for that distance and it simply does not worth to shoot... does it make sense?
of course you can bypass this rule and shoot anyway, but the laser beam or projectile will miss the target anyway...
a missile's range is usually the flight distance (calculated from max flight time (fuel) multiplied by max velocity...)

Considering that the entire point of the Stargate program was to obtain technology to protect earth it makes perfect sense that Earth would develop warships.
i think the x304 daedalus class is one of the best ship designs in the history of scifi.. better than my number 2 fav, a battlestar class (bsg).. my number 3 fav design would have to be a defiant class (trek)

Dude they used alot of creativity, ok our ships look similar with the long front but thats it! 302 design use influenced because of gliders, Jumpers are just completely different, and Atlantis itself is a feet of engineering, its a ship. And if we expand into other races we have Hat'ak, Alkesh, and gliders, and cargo ships, each have almost no similar design structure and Ori ships, who would have before thought of that design. Wraith have the same design structure with the hive and the cruiser
Besides witch, if you're including Prometheus in your statement, they're supposed to look extremely similar. It's like different classes of ships in Star Trek: they're all slightly different, but highly similar because they were engineered and constructed by the same group.

Yes there are photons in light, I believe that, however the number of photon's in space would be as negligible as the gravitational pull of a space shuttle on an astronaut.
The resistance created by the friction of those light particles would be negligible.
The ships shields would take the heat from friction out of the equation. And if you have sublight engines capable of reaching even .01c they would easily be able to push past any kind of drag.

i think the x304 daedalus class is one of the best ship designs in the history of scifi.. better than my number 2 fav, a battlestar class (bsg).. my number 3 fav design would have to be a defiant class (trek)

dude... all of the daedalus class have asguard weapons after unending.... check out "Be All My Sins Rembered" in SGA... the BC-304 Class is one of the best class of ship in stargate... small and manuverable, interglatic hyperdrive, asguard everything...
(Sheilds, beaming, weapons) the ship has all you ever need... assuming that the asguard weapon is as strong as the ori weapon, (although that dosent make sence at the battle of xxx-xxxx (idk wat place) with the asguard ship) then it can - cont.

That is my point: it's not black and white. The US could have dropped the bomb on Japan and killed x # of people or they could have invaded and even more would have died; it was a tough position. People can use that to criticise American just as someone can criticise Sweden for their lack of action in WWII while Germany was doing terrible things.
It is stupid. We shouldn't "country bash." All we end up doing is offending everyone.

i like mostly the earth ships. they look cool. they have two hangars, energy sields, lazer and rocket turrets and a hyperdrive engine and bes of all! a teleporter from the asgard. if they didn't hav that long front. they would look like a old fashioned ufo!

Dude they used alot of creativity, ok our ships look similar with the long front but thats it! 302 design use influenced because of gliders, Jumpers are just completely different, and Atlantis itself is a feet of engineering, its a ship. And if we expand into other races we have Hat'ak, Alkesh, and gliders, and cargo ships, each have almost no similar design structure and Ori ships, who would have before thought of that design. Wraith have the same design structure with the hive and the cruiser

Besides witch, if you're including Prometheus in your statement, they're supposed to look extremely similar. It's like different classes of ships in Star Trek: they're all slightly different, but highly similar because they were engineered and constructed by the same group.

There is evidence for both sides and it appears that is some situations light seems to act as a wave and in other situations light acts as a particle.
Yes there are photons in light, I believe that, however the number of photon's in space would be as negligible as the gravitational pull of a space shuttle on an astronaut.
The resistance created by the friction of those light particles would be negligible.

The ships shields would take the heat from friction out of the equation. And if you have sublight engines capable of reaching even .01c they would easily be able to push past any kind of drag.
