go buy the book ben hogan's five fundamentals. it will improve your game faster than any lessons you buy from a head pro......or any youtuber's pointers. it will be the best $10 lesson you have invested. since you have some athletic background, you should be able comprehend the reading really fast.
can anyone tell me any tips on how to not put all my force in my swing...im trying to hit the ball to hard and i end up messing up how can i stop doing that? its gotten a little better since i dislocated my shoulder so my muscles are still weak but once they get back to normal i think it will go back to the same way
Until you change your grip there is no point trying to change anything in your swing because 90% of your problems come about beacuse of the position of your hands
at finish your weight is on your back feet and your trying to lift the ball. just like in baseball have your weight on your front and let the club do the work
my fellow golfer save yourself some time and money and alot of frustration and take some lessons you'll be happier by summers end if you did. you have too many swing issues to resolve here properly that only a teaching pro can help you with and with better results and sooner too.
In your desciption is your problem. Im in the same boat as you, i played baseball and its a hard transition into golf. like some people said, your not going to fix your swing over the internet and its true. but my suggestion is go slow on your backswing and to not try to cush the ball like you would a baseball. i think most people would take a 200 yard straight drive over a 300 yard shank that they lose in the woods
you need to get lessons from a pro there is no way someone can teach u how to fix your swing over the internet your posture is horrible hands to high sway to much no weight transfer go to your local pro and he can try and help you
Ok before you learn to direct ur ball straight, u have to learn to hit the ball efficently. You said you want to hit homeruns right? with that kind of weight transition ur not gonna go past first base. pause at around 0:43 now notice your left foot heel if off the ground which means most of ur weight is on the right foot, agreed? look as you following to your down swing you have not shift your weight into your left foot, once you get this right i can promise you your shots will get further
your right shoulder should not lunge towards the ball, try dropping towards the ground i.e. right shoulder works towards right toe, through impact instead of towards the golf ball
if your swing plane is still out to in try releasing your hips for a more complete turn in the backswing and trigger downswing with your waist clearing out 1st
you stand too far from the ball and that makes you come across the ball and from what i see you are trying to help the ball up just let the club to all the work keep your head down and take a deep breath before every swing that relaxes your whole body and dont pick up your left heel on your backswing hope this helps get back to me
try keeping your left heel down on your backswing. keep your waist and face facing the spot where the ball was before impact. try not to lean back after impact also. hope that helps
your standing way to far from the ball. you should just let your arms hang from your body also your knees are far to bent . also try and slow down your swing and get a smooth tempo. hope this helps
you know in baseball it is all about keeping the weight on the back foot you know smash the bug with the back foot. to practice the feel of the transfer of weight to the left side try hitting the ball while standing on your left leg only. use the right leg to just keep balance but very little weight.
First off, your stance is way too wide. I'd bring your feet 30% closer together..
bharlan2002 is right, there is definitely a weight issue. At the end of each swing, you fall back on you rear foot.
To compensate for this, i'd like to see you at least try a "stack and tilt" approach to your swing. All you need to do is keep about 75% of your weight on your left foot through out the entire swing. Just experiment a little, and see if it works for you.
No weight shift, your backswing seems to be pretty good but when you come down you should bring everything forward or at least that's what the 'pros' say. I say whatever works for you is what you do.
naveektd is exactly right when he/she says ur standing too far from the ball. u want the end of ur club to be about a hands length from ur body. when ur too far from the ball u tend to put ur arms out more causing ur swing to go from outside to inside which puts krazy spin on the ball causing it to curve the way it does
first of all you are not transfering your weight. Your uper body is the only thing hitting the ball. Your not conected neither if you stay connected you will never slice. Its a hard habbit to break because most people think it shortens their swing but it compacts it so your always on plain. I can swing a club with my eyes closed and won't slice it because im connected that means holding the inside of your arms to your chest and just swing your shoulders and let the club follow
legs way to wide.. shoulders never open up towards your target.. dont overbend your knees, open your hips get your weight on the balls of your feet not your heels and get the swing plain flatter and stay down through the ball, dont pop out of it or you will hack and shank even more
Keith, learn to finish with your weight completely on your left foot. The then have someone help you release your hands during impact to make the slice go away. Your right hand must roll over your left before you hit the ball, and slice will be gone. good luck
AND...hold your follow through for longer than 0.5 seconds. Maintain your finish position for a 5-count, this will help your balance and overall swing. (Picture: the front cover of Golf Digest...the golf pose)
Don't over think with all your questions. Just simplify it.
Your body weight is mostly on your trail foot (right foot) through impact and the follow through. On your downswing you need to get your weight up mostly on the front foot (left foot). The right toe should act more like a kickstand on a motorcycle than a load bearing beam.
your grip looks a little weak. the "v" formed between your thumb and index finger of your left hand needs to point toward your right shoulder. Also, try to keep your left foot planted on the backswing, and set your right foot up so that it points straight forward, forming a 90 degree angle with the desired ball path.
Just my two cents (of course I'm a 26 handicap too)
bet you'd fix that slice if you committed to the shot and finished your swing with all the weight on your left foot. i can tell you grew up playing baseball with that finish. begin the downswing with your arms to help prevent and inside-out motion and finish on that left foot = no more slice.
first thing i noticed is ur grip...look up a vid on the correct grip first, next you r on ur toes too much, and at impact ur moving back and away from the ball. u want to hit down on the ball, also ur weight should be over the ball during ur golf swing
ur knees are too bent. ur stance is a little wide...stay shoulder width. u also are reaching kinds far for the ball...stand a little closer. u slice the ball because u come over the top as well. on ur down swing ur hands should almost hit ur legs and at 1:26 u can clearly see how far away ur hands are. look at tigers swing from behind and you'll see
no body rotation

try to keep your feet a little closer together.
at the finish, try to put more weight on your front foot.
if you look at other peoples swing, at the finish, they bring
their back foot up to a "tippy toe" position.
look at tigers, or any other person who has a good swing, and try to get an idea on what to do. try to practice while looking in the mirror. it helps.
you have a pretty nice, basic swing... keep it up
