err, i've never seen a store with a 'general survival stuff' isle. are these only in the US? lol, are americans expecting survival situations on such a daily basis that they are catered for with a 'survival isle'??!!!!
@ozmanofpeace in colorado you aren't prepared for a bit of wilderness survival, you are FUCKED. i've been on my own in the forest 3 times because of getting lost, or getting ditched. plus it's not a survival hour, it's an outdoor isle
@beaverman17 i'm going by what les said, 'survival isle'.
C'mon, i'm an Australian, so don't lecture me about outback survival lol. 3 times? mate, i LIVE in the forest, in a hut I built myself and at various tent sites I have around the state (I'm Tasmanian, where the WHOLE ISLAND is one big forest!)
@ozmanofpeace i meant no disrespect to you man. just pisses me off when people talk shit bout being prepared, which i now realize you weren't. and yes i'm sure living in the outback gives you some useful skills.and about lost/ditched, when your on a month long hunting trip everyone keeps going till you hit your final place (usually a small town/city) so no, no hidden message there. xD. i'm never hanging up my coat.
@beaverman17 well put it this way, just last night i cooked up a nice batch of woodlice (think you americans call 'em woodlouse), some nasturtium (a common 'herb' found around the world) with fennel and some potatoes. those woodlice were pretty crunchy, but quite edible, you should give them a go. and no, i'm not joking. i'm serious about my survival skills.
@beaverman17 well, thanks, i just enjoy my survival training time. i try to learn all i can and put it into practice to test how suitable it is in the real world. made a trapping net from jute twine by hand the other day as part of a way to trap small game (i've found noosing is pretty hit and miss). ate some caterpillars that i'm yet to identify (think they were silk moths). don't know what i'm training for, but i'm just obsessed with it...
@beaverman17 btw, how did you find the dandelions? you know their are 2 plants that look almost exactly the same, yet only 1 is the true dandelion. don't worry, the other isn't poisonous. look at the leaves - if they have even fine hairs, it's not a true dandelion. did you roast n grind roots to make 'coffee' or just eat the leaves?
@ozmanofpeace ah hmm i didn't know that. i get a flat rock lay the fish on it with the dandelion leaves under it and the flower petals on top of it and when i can i also lay wild strawberrys and/or rasberrys on top of that. also nice if you're on a hunting trip or what ever to replace fish w/ a venison/elk/moose steak. good stuff.
@beaverman17 actually there's more than a handful of incredible similar at a glance dandelion look-alikes but i didn't want to scare you as none of the alternatives are apparently poisonous! here are some:
@ozmanofpeace sorry, i mean NONE OF THE VERY COMMON LOOKALIKES ARE POISONOUS. there ARE poisonous plants in the list i just gave. Common Sow Thistle (Sonchus oleraceus) is one safe and common lookalike. you've probably already eaten it.
@beaverman17 (continued) Now I'm not having a go at you, in fact, I'm always in support of those who get out there and learn skills and put them to use. One day I hope to visit the US and spend ALOT of time in its beautiful wilderness, and yes, I know a bit about Colorado. Brings to mind Aron Ralston...now that was one tough mother fu**er
@beaverman17 (continued 2) BTW, anyone who wants a glimpse of one tough Aussie should get a copy of 'Left For Dead' by Ricky Magee. Ricky would've lived like a king in Colorado!
@beaverman17 lol 'getting lost or getting ditched'. dude, i think there's a message in that you're not seeing lol. maybe it's time you hung up your coat...
@CONSTRINGACY WooW I really want to get a ticket and fly to Tasmania! I am living in boring old Minnesota. I have lived in Iran though, that was nice.
@CONSTRINGACY Yep, I'm tasmanian also and live in the forest in a hut I built myself, as well as tenting it out in a few hidden spots around the state. Nice to see another Tasmanian on youtube!
I really enjoy both Survivor Man and Man vs Wild, but Man vs Wild is so more interesting. Bear is almost constantly moving and showing you new things and you really get to see the environment he is at or says he is at haha. I am not saying Bear is more intelligent cause I know he has other experts with him and Survivor Man is supposedly alone, I am just saying Bear's show is much more worth the watch :)
i agree totally with Willy420Wonka , hell ya dude. man vs wild is a joke for ppl that have no actual intrest in the wilderness. survivorman actually gives u good tips and advice. bear is a total joke... and that episode where hes with will ferral, is a joke. Will wat were u thinking goin with that dumbass...
What tips. His movements in this are based on the survival of his cameras. And there's few explicit tips. He doesn't say "You can eat this. Look for this. Try to do this. Don't do this. If you feel this, then this" Very few. What are you talking about.
you would need to take periodic breaks to re hyderate if possible or rest. DE-hydration is a vary possible thing if you dont stop workig. I think the first night shelter and fire are mandatory then after that food. Lots of time to take breaks.

yeah but bear has a camera crew 10 feet behind him at all times if he gets hurt they can help him if he falls then can help him up but survivor man shows how to build good shelters and how to survive using nature bear is adventerous but he has a camera crew to help him
listen, this goes out to everyone that thinks man vs. wild is better. Man Vs. Wild is fake he has a camera crew for gods sake. Les has to film his own show which makes it twice as hard and its not planned out theresbeen times he has to find his way out but bear's camera gives him food and stuff. les shows how to make a good place to sleep good tips and how to survive Survivorman > man vs.wild
Bear is more adventurous,...he takes so more risk! Parachutes into the site,...swims up stream,...climbs up cliffs using the vines to propel himself up over. etc, on & on. This guy just camps out,...sits around with his can of tuna & beef jerky. We can relate more because he's so boring.
yeah bear can be more adventurous...because he has his camera crew with him for protection..Bear can also have the luxury of going to a hotel when the sun goes down...Les Stroud is the real deal.
bears a bum compared to les. i like man vs wild too. but les is like the average guy goin into the bush and surviving. bear goes in with his bare hands sure. but who the fuck goes into the bush with their bare hands and tries to survive. just some crazy british guy. les is more like us he goes in with some stuff, and does what he can with it.
this guy has soo many things with him to use to his advantage. bear grylls uses barely anything from the outside world apart from a knife n a flint. he sits in the camp all day but bear grylls shows u how to survive and get back to civilisation. survivor man (L)'s cock
seriously y does he bring like an either camp with him? bear grylls' survival tips show u how to get back to civilization but he just stays there and eat his little candy bars
yeah, but Bear grylls isnt fully unscripted, for example when he finds a horse, thats brought in by the production crew, and he's been known to stay in hotels and has been given food by his crew before,
