  • @dontOVERREACT Ill pray for you

  • @gotama420 Yah I no... and he made it all sound so friendly, but he didn't say how we would get to this population #. He may even think well.. were having fewer children i.e. the rich nations so it will be blood less. But if you think this through the third world nations are having more and more children and show no sine of slowing. So to get to that magic # it can't be blood less. The only way down in population #'s is war, famine, disease and I think were heading that way now.

  • There's no way of predicting humanity given our various personalities. I would like to think that I have a heart but I have no means to rationally spend my money on a website that I can see for free...at least right now. Maybe in the future I'll put my money where my cares lie, but rationally, our economy sucks. I'm unemployed and every dollar is precious, so Wikipedia will have to wait for me.

  • aaaahahahahaha, i would be willing to bet this lady doesnt even know what money is. what a moron. this is absolutely hilarious! both of these idiots demonstrate a fundamental misunderstanding of the causal mechanisms that drive human action.

  • I know we are a blip in the cosmos and in the history of all life on Earth as we know it, but tell someone in a war torn country that the glass is half full... Ya know?

  • @dontOVERREACT Philosophy, does. We like to speculate on ideas and visualize what ifs.

  • people that contribute to Wikipedia have an agenda. Just go and try and post the truth about, for example: Islam or Zionism, and it will get pulled so fast you will miss it if you blink. They will tell you they don't like your sources no matter how many you have and how good they are. I know, I have tried. Peter, people live better because they consume far more resources, that's what that "famous technologists" was saying.

  • Stupid video.

  • The percentage of people living below the poverty level, is at an all time high. Slavery is at an all time high. It appears that without the removal of the controlling factions(13 families + their minions), the future forecast is below dismal. Without outside help, to take TPTB down, we stand no chance. Most of the populace buys into one bullshit belief system or another and are kept under control, in this manner. The UN + NATO + WHO + IMF belong to the enemy and all governments are but puppets.

  • If the the population trend (birth rate minus death rate) continues as it is for the next 300 years, there will be little European bioculture left. Since they are not replacing themselves by having children, more immigrants will move there for employment and will be necessary to support the economy. Eventually, the Europe we know will be a relic of the past. It might very well become Eurabia. ;)

  • Errr, so... sustained starvation of Africa, insane and growing weath inequity, decreasing average life spans in the West (cancers, heart conditions, etc), and launching unilateral imperialist wars manoeuvring for the last drops of oil in the Middle East, but don't worry folks: "WE'RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK" - Peter Schwartz said so! LOL Thumbs up if you think he's a douchebag!

  • @ProjectEndure

Stop your hate of western culture, Hes right, If we keep on progressing, spreading democracy and human rights there will be prosperity and freedom in the future.

UNLESSS, Islam Cock blocks its, Islam hates all those things.

  • Yeah...not buying it. On what is this guy basing his predictions?

  • This guy is not on the right page..

  • Population down to 2 or 3 billion in 300 years? Yikes! That's only about 10 generations! Does this assume some kind of starvation catastrophe or nuclear war?

Oh, yeah, the prediction comes from the UN. I can't think of one single successful thing they have done.

    I'll relax now.

  • @freesk8 Presumably that is based on the general level of prosperity rising. We know people have much smaller families in that situation.

Personally I think we need to see an end to religious belief, or at least the end of organised religion, if we are going to move on as a species.

  • @Britonbear I agree with you that religion is a major problem, but it can not be eradicated by force. That would be wrong.

Teaching evolution, increasing market liberalization, free speech and atheists coming out of the closet are what we need to fight religious mysticism.

  • @freesk8 Only 10 generations!? That's plenty! He's talking about reducing to half today's population. Where do you think today's people will be in 75 years? Dead, of course! Who will replace us? Children, of course!

You don't need a massive catastrophe to reduce populations. 2 surviving children per couple is the replacement rate: if couples started having 1.9 children on average instead of today's 2.3(?), that's a significant reduction that would get us down to 3bn in 10 generations, easily.

  • @werdnativ By my calculations, a 5% reduction in population (1.9/2 = 95%) each generation over ten generations leaves us with almost 60% of the original population. That's 4.12 Billion, since today's population is about 6.88 billion people.

But that assumes huge reductions in global fertility rates, which will only occur if there are massive market liberalizations in Africa, S. America, Indonesia, China and India. I seriously doubt 2-3 billion will happen without some massive disaster.

  • @freesk8 Yes, your figures are right, but you're arguing over a rounding error: I assumed 6Bn, but it's true that we're almost up to 7 now. You get the point though... Also, nobody said that no catastrophes would happen in the next 300 years: I bet that some would almost certainly happen anyway, regardless of anyone's forecast. This doesn't mean one big cataclysm either, but over 300 years there's bound to be a few smaller ones whether we cause them or not.

  • Population prediction for the next 300 years? WTF?

The can't even predict the weather for the next 3 days!

  • I agree wikipedia is great and unbiased, I donated!

  • @notmycupotea Wikipedia unbiased, yeah tell that to the alien conspiracists, right-wing nutjobs and christian fundies lol

  • im an optimist but this fool doesn't sound convincing at all. life will be far beyond anyones capability to calculate even 50 years into the future.the revolutions awaiting emergence at the edge of the technological fruition will ratify mankinds relationship to the universe.how will life be if we are living off this planet?what about a.i. and robot development.and information processing improvement?these continue to evolve and morph our way of living. what about future genetic discoveries?

  • "the optimists are getting it right" that's easy to say if you haven't just experienced a genocide, dp bombs, famine, deforestation, natural disasters, fatal pollution caused disease epidemics... it's easy to make broad statements when your sitting up high away from the storms... im inclined to believe that things are better relative to 200 yrs ago however better is relative to where and who you are no aboriginal "eco friendly" peoples are doing better... rich nations just have more rich people

  • @Th3Wab3 I agree with all you say but I think he is saying the same thing but in a nice way ie. population down too 2 or 3 billion. You got to get there some how and the poor will lose. At least thats what I got out of it.

  • I sure hope the 300 year projection is accurate.

  • love wiki

  • Wikipedians are nice people? What? My experience is the exact opposite. Many seem to sit on their little pretentious mound of digital real-estate they regard as their own. And if outsiders even try to venture in on their domain you get smacked down and reverted. The exaggerated regulatory trends of wiki will be its downfall.

  • the venus project!! ftv!

  • To summarize: things have been getting better for three hundred years therefore they will get better for the next three hundred years.

    Brilliant. Just brilliant.

  • Humanity is damned to progress, as it always has in the entirety of human history, despite the attempt of warmongers to decimate us. Progress is at the very core of human nature, it is THE thing the distinguishes us from all other primates and animals. The very notion that we will not overcome is a complete fallacy.

  • I know

    humanity is f#cked!

  • my youtube channel holds the correct understanding of the universe

  • @Dysentery7885 So does my anal orifice! I just blew out a white dwarf!

  • Sorry but its still going to be resource based. You have the servers or do I have the servers, you have access to the data or do I have access to the data. Wikipedia is an outliers in a global information economy that still makes a market of information.

  • Never heard of this guy, 3 billion people? How would that be possible

  • @LitheInvestments

Its an observable fact that as countries modernize the population shrinks.

Japan & Europe are all shrinking, the U.S. would be decreasing in population were it not for net immigration.

  • @LitheInvestments Good question. I wonder what kind of legislative domestic polocies the ruling elite have in mind to make this happen.

  • This guy is wrong. We're going to destroy ourselves. The U.N. stats were on the condition that we all change our ways today and decide to stop having children. It's so out there that it's not even a concievable dream. We're all fucked. so get high and wait to die.

  • @AnotherMasterMind

Compare a family size of a western nation today to what they used to be even a hundred years ago. Most now are under three children, whereas they used to be ten or even more.

Some modernized countries have population deficits and now depend on immigration to support their populations.
