it ain't your CPU who doesn't let you overclock, it's your motherboard.

you do need that CPU and RAM who can handle it though, but if you ain't got a motherboard that gives you the option, you're stuck anyway.

Got a trick for HD4850/E8400 users. Overclock your processor to atleast 3.4GHZ for smoooooooth performance. Never drops below 30.

Also, managed to set everything on High/Highest. No difference in FPS.

Lol I cant overclock my cpu, i have Intel Core 2 Duo 6420, which doesnt let me overclock.

Sorry about that.. Overclocking greatly increases your performance. Also, if you use the -norestrictions and -nomemrestrict commands you can set your graphics to High, the FPS wont drop noticeably. 38 fps avg on medium, 34 on high.

If you overclock a CPPU with GTAIV, it crashes all the time. Well it did with me.

yea true.BUT the ati x1950xt was longer then my motherboard and for 120 1 year ago i accept alot and got very very little.I paid 110 for my 9600gt ssc edition @ 740/1000 this ting kick ass for 110 buckz

You realize there's a significant difference between those two cards? also FPS is not determined just randomly, it goes game by game.

ATI makes cards equal to Nvidia and price to performance they have been leading since Nvidia usurped 3DFX

I've got hd4850 too and i have 35 fps in day,at night near 30 and i play on High.You have to instal new drivers,patch, and tweak .Wish you good luck

Did you change anything I mean some settings patches or anything else in order to get the game running like this on your PC because a lot of people seem to complain about bugs and crashes of the graphics? please answer (still it seems tah ATI gets much higher quality than GeForce)

If you ask me, it should run on your pc but it will lag often. GTA 4 has some problems with ATI cards but the patch is ready and Microsoft has to certify it before the patch will be released.

well.. in germany we have the problem, that the game crashed after the first LEGAL page.

there are some trix to get it workin, but a patch would help out a lot :)

Well your graphics card sucks. You should get a HD4850. The only game that lags a little is GTA IV. I'm running it on medium and it still looks nice.
