BOA doesn't necessarily need pure power in her vocals, to be a great singer. BoA is a great singer because she was great vocals and SM didn't hold back in bringing in the best vocal coaches for her. BoA's power singing is her ability to change the pitch of her vocals at will at ANY moment of the song AND STILL SOUND great. Not many singer can change the pitch of their vocals of a song AND still sound good.
