I think this song is about her losing her innocence to rape, and then having it affect her grown-up romantic relationships. Either way, great song, nice cover.

the rape theme seems to be prevalent.. notice the line in sullen girl "they washed me ashore, and took my pearl, and left an empty shell of me.." probably the most beautiful description of defilement i've ever heard in my life. i loved this album, front to back, and elements like that are the reason.
