Yes you dumb feminists need to get out off your little American suburbs and actually see the world.I was in magaluf last year which is an island next to spain on vacation and was suprised to find out that prostitution was legal. I visited a brothel, it was a nice clean establishment and the girl i chose was not miserable, in fact she was humming along to the rhianna song after i fucked her.Not only that but the next day i saw some of the girls at the beach laughing and sunbathing!
not every man is goodlooking/hot enough to attract normal women for sexual relations.
most women want casual sex relations with very attractive men only, even if theyre average looking themselves. long term relations and commitment are the only option for average / reasonable looking men. what if a young male is single and doesnt want to settle down yet. why can he hire a sex worker occasionally and relieve his urge to have sex and intimacy ?
please make a distinction here between separate issues.
one should be against trafficking & kidnapping of women into prostitution, slavery and abuse of prostitutes, underage prostitution, extreme poverty and exploitation by pimps.
not the act of paying for sex. there ARE women who do sex work of their own free will and its not wrong to hire them.
good video just really sad what is going on men are weak and ladys have put up w/ so much in history abuse from men sooo girls when are we going to make a stand and stop sale of your body. stop drugs
I think that everyone better watch the movie 'Zeitgeist moving forward' here on youtube. It's a 2 hours and 40 minutes documentary movie that tells what's causing to human problems all over the planet, and it suggests a really good solution. Just type the name of the movie in the search bar and you'll get it.
@Ziggy2016: These feminists have no idea what they're talking about. All they can do is form an unholy alliance with religious moralists under the guise of "protecting women" to preserve family morals. In the end, their conclusion is the same: women are like little children and cannot choose for themselves. The women in this video were prostitutes under illegal circumstances, so its no wonder they were degraded. If they reported to the police, they'd be incarcerated.
Men are so full of themselves... to think that a women who is prostituted actually ENJOYS what she is doing. Come on guys.. do you really really think that??? She is so grossed out by you that she can't even go through it without being 'out of it'. What the hell do you get out of that????? It's all about power and control.
@cashmere2007: Just for the record, if you went to any country where prostitution is legal and regulated, visited a brothel and went in with your feminist preaching; those "abused" women would laugh you off and ridicule you. I strongly advise you to get out of your little white suburban N American life, and go see the world. Maybe then you'll grow up and stop looking at women as mindless vegitables with the inability to choose outside of a traditional lifestyle.
THE SALE OF WOMEN AND CHILDREN MUST COME TO AN END! Men need to stop demanding sex for pay. Use your hand if you're that desperate to get off.. or hire your buddy. Stop abusing women and children... Women do not choose to be abused. They are VULNERABLE when they enter this world of piggy men looking to get their rocks off by controlling a woman. Do you really think she enjoys it? COME ON... !!!! She pretends to be somewhere other than with YOU! It's the only way she can get through it!
@cashmere2007: Uh-huh, and women who choose to work in the sex industry should be shunned and cast out, right? I got news for you, my dear little feminist: women are NOT little children. Believe it or not, there are many women who enjoy sex and don't care who its with, and they want to make some serious cash with their beauty. There's a lot of money in the sex industry. Just as there are women who enter out of necessity.
I am speaking FOR THE WOMEN i have listened to who have been violated!!!!! Women in the prostitution industry are at greater risk than the general female population of being murdered... Women DO NOT CHOOSE this... they get abused prior to entering the prostitution INDUSTRY and the abuse escalates as a result of being in this 'trap'. I don't wish it on your female loved ones.... but if it did.. you change your mind in a flash. Grow up and be a man... stand up for the well being of women!
@cashmere2007: And these allegedly violated women were all prostitutes in a country where they could not go to the police out of fear of being criminalized and imprisoned after they were abused by pimps or clients. So you people think every woman who enters the sex industry was previously abused and degraded? Tell that to Nina Hartley. Better yet find some proof outside N America. I do stand up for the well being of women, starting with not treating them like little children. But you....hmm.
It increases the demand for prostitution. It boosts the motivation of men to buy women for sex in a much wider and more permissible range of socially acceptable settings.
It does not promote women's health.
It does not enhance women's choice.
Women in systems of prostitution do not want the sex industry legalized or decriminalized.
@cashmere2007: The Hungarian Sexworkers Association, a union in Hungary that protects sex workers and ASSISTS those who are interested in quitting, and other such unions would certainly disagree with you. I never understood feminists such as yourself. You claim to stand up for women's rights in a male-dominated elitist society, yet you're more than happy to act as sex cops for that elite.
@cashmere2007: So what you're basically saying is that for sex to be fun, it has to be in your "emotionally connected relationships". I strongly disagree. So you as a "women's rights" activist would gladly keep laws in place that criminalizes women who go into prostitution for survival. That right there should be why feminists such as yourself should be defending sex workers, yet you're more interested in promoting laws that would criminalize them. Makes no sense.
@cashmere2007: Really? Well then...tell me about Albania, Moldova, and Kosovo. All three of these places prostitution is a serious crime and carries a prison sentence. But they have one more thing in common: they are havens for sex trafficking. Legalization of prostitution is a punishment to pimps. For then they cannot abuse their sex workers with violence, and forced payments like they do in the USA. Sex workers must be included in the protection by labor laws.
@Ziggy2016 like many pro-sexual explotation people, you come up with a non-sense coment. What the hell does it have to do with the payed rape in prostitution?and yes, depending on the culture, there are many women who wish to be sinlgle, the entire world is not USA or Europe.Prostitution is not a women creation and its glamourization has more to do with american and europeans and other highly patriarchal culture than anything else.Ask an indigenous women if she wants to become one. What an Idiot!
By supporting prohibition, you are driving women who choose to work in prostitution outside the law, where they are prey to the violence of the criminals AND the courts. You are enabling rape. Thanks to you, women can't use the legal system to defend themselves. Because you see women as moral imbeciles, Victorian-era common property, slaves to your superior worldview. In your eyes, woman have no reasoning ability or moral agency - they must be forced to be "good" or risk being thrown in a cage.
what make me more disgusted in this story: amny people here are probabily agisnt racism, are in favor of human rights, some are for animals rights, against nazism...but in relation to us,women,we can be paid for being raped because every insane excuse is acceptable, excuses that would be ridiculous if used for defending racim,nazism,anti-semitism.That idiot john wrote that women blame men for postiturtiom, but who invented prostitution? We,women or men who see us as sexual commodioties?
well,i received an email of a idiot cruel jonh called ApollosInsight, saying that prostitution is achoice, well,i just would like to ask this men if he would like to see her wife/sister/cousin/daughther being sold to any emn,i any time,no amtter if she wnats or not.The reality of prostitution is this: the seling ofwomen.Honestly if you monsters are saying that´s choice and similiar shit,so i can say that to be slaves was the dream, the right of choice of the black people in the past.
WHY???? Why do you choose to make these idiotic comments? What kind of sick power trip do you get out of it?? You'll never get or keep a woman.. your truth will always come out eventually...
men would love to be paid by women for sex. that is the irony in the world. men don`t want to pay for sex. They just want sex. if women would give sex as freely as men would, there would be no prostitution. men wish the shoe was on the other foot. this is the situation we have inherited since time began. men don`t see prostitution as bad, because men would jump at the chance to be paid for having sex with strangers. Ironic, isn`t it?
I would support prostitution if it were legalized and efforts were made to ensure that the prostitutes themselves were in charge of their own lives. Right now there isn't any protection for them. When stuff like this is illegal, that means that people like pimps can charge super inflated prices, which means they are more likely to do awful things to get the money.
I'm sure perhaps these feminist anti-sex cops can explain why in countries where prostitution is illegal and carries long term sentences (like Albania and Moldova) are the primary exporters for human trafficking. Or why Bulgaria and Romania are seriously considering legalizing prostitution to combat human trafficking. Legalization of prostitution would make it safer for sex workers, granting them protection under labor laws from pimps, etc.
@hectorbolshevik just because people do it doesnt mean it should be legal.. just because some people like to have sex with children doesnt mean a market should legally exist for it
@crackfiendables: Don't delude yourself. For as long as prostitution is illegal, women who end up in it by force or not will be victims of pimps and mobsters; and easier targets for rapists and murderers. Children are another matter. Prostitution is consensual sex for the exchange of money. What's the big deal?
If a man wants to beat or strangle a woman, he'll do it whether it's legalized or not. And all legalization does is give the message that it's ok to buy women's bodies. Let's buy your mother or sister's body, shall we?
@cashmere2007: What the hell are you talking about? You're comparing violence against women to consensual sex between two people. Don't be a moron. What legalization does is make it safer for both the prostitute and the customer from pimps, diseases, etc. Ever wonder why the countries where prostitution is illegal are hotspots for sex trafficking, and a higher STD rate among prostitutes than countries where its legal? What are you the commissioner for the Family Morality Police?
As a woman... I get to have a say... As a man.. you should be helping us to erradicate violence against women. If you were a real man, you would care. Prostitution IS VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN. I am worker in the field of violence against women and we just had a 2 day conference with professionals in this political arena, and listened to stories from former survival sex workers.
Women do not choose to be used/abused over and over and over and over again, day in day out!
@cashmere2007: No, you don't have a say. Because you're just speaking for yourself. I oppose violence against women. However, a woman who chooses to accept money for sex is NOT being abused. Ask yourself, if there were labor laws protecting sex workers against violence, do you think these women you listened to would've endured that pain? You say women don't choose? Might I suggest you get out of you little white suburban home and visit countries like Hungary, Germany, Holland, and Austria?
this is a disgusting trade, the evil bastards behind it need hanging by the balls and burnt. Israel is the largest destination for trafficked women. Because we are 'Goyim' - 'beasts of burden' to them, they are inherantly evil and USA money funds them. Reclaim our morals and rights before its too late.
kdurston: one other thing, you can't legislate morality. If an individual chooses to exploit his or her "personal dignity" that is their own business. Again, victimization occurs in the absence of consent. If both parties agree to the exchange, there is no "crime". The damage you claim, is to your own sense of morality. If that's the case, I suggest that you not partake of the service being offered and leave those who wish to do so alone. You know; live and let live.
u are inconsistent in your reasoning as you're promoting the legislation of your particular moral relativity into legal code over mine. we legislate morality all the time. rape, pedaphelia, theft, murder, assault are all moral codes that by that nature are legal ones as well. based on your "logic" all these are legally and morally indefensible. you seem to reject slavery, but on what grounds given your argumentation? your views sees people as commodities like sex and livestock.
I'm quite consistent. The crimes you state are the result of lack of consent. No one consents to being raped, stolen from, put into manumission(slavery) or murdered. Children by definition cannot give consent. We are free as consenting adult to enter into contractual agreements with one another, it is that ability that is commidified, that includes sex and livestock. It's done with egg and sperm doaners, surragate mothers, anything that can be contracted for between consenting people is.
Again, Lack of consent is slavery which is a crime. If you read my earlier comments, I make that quite clear. Children, mentally deficient persons, and animals cannot give consent, therefore they cannot enter into an agreement or contract. Statutory rape, slavery and beastiality is illegal. You're attempting to use a straw man argument to bolster your viewpoint.
One more thing: contractual slavery was part of the founding of the English colonies in North America. Ever hear of indentured servitude? How about the death penalty? How does an abstract legal construct called "the state" reserve the "right" to end the life of an organic human being? It seems to me that it is YOU who is being inconsistent. Morality only reflects the attitudes of a particular people at a particular time. Unless you really like living in the Victorian Era?
But ur argument was based on morality, not consent. what moral imperative grants you the ability to demand outrage at slavery? you are implicitly suggesting that there is a higher moral law that is to be obeyed. ur point that consent is required for rule is putting itself on an objective moral plain. so to suggest that morality is variable is contradictory. for if ur fist proposition is true, ur second is false. if ur second proposition is true, ur first is false. this is the contradiction.
Now you're being obtuse.I have never advanced my argument based on morality. In fact, you have intimated that I am amoral-which I am. Freedom is based on the ability to contract, even man and the state contract; look at the Declaration of Independence. Morality changes depending on where and when. Do we still deny women the right to own property in their name when they are married? No. Consent, consent, consent. Slaves cannot consent thats why they are taken by force or coersion.
You are wrong. There are gradiations of people who engage in prostitution; from courteseans to escorts to call girls to streetwalkers. The reasons are as varied as the people who engage in it. To be sure, there are societies who sell young girls, THAT IS ILLEGAL. But the vast majority engage in prostitution voluntarily, albeit for economic reasons.
Do you know the social class structure? You know that pyramid shape you learn in sociology 101? MOST people in the US live in poverty. Most of the women being prostittuted are from poverty... MOST women do not get to choose their Johns, they have to have sex with ugly, smelly, creepy men that they don't like or even want to be around.
Again,CC you're grasping at straws, people sell their labor or services for sustinance, or economic necessity. The manner of work is still the choice of the individual. Any prostitute can choose whatever "john" she wants, just as as you can choose what job you want to work at.
"It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self love and never talk to them of our necessities but of their advantages. Nobody but a beggar choose to depend chiefly upon the benevolence of his fellow citizens"-Adam Smith "Wealth Of Nations"
Having said that, it begs the question; how has prohibition of prostitution affected the trade itself? You already know the answer. Since the present strategies have proven to be ineffective as well as morally paternalistic, why not try another approach? It seems that in those places (Amsterdam, New Zeland, and certain counties in Nevada) they have very few problems. If you have a moral problem with it, no one is forcing you to engage in it. Why is it necessary for you to be the morality police?
D - you are so full of shit, it's unbelieveable. DO SOME RESEARCH. Type into google "sex trafficking Amsterday, Las Vegas" - when you do this - you quickly realize that the decriminilzation of the sex trade has INCREASED the black market - not the other way around.
No CC you are "FOS". In a debate, the one who makes the assertion has the burden of proof. As I suspected, you don't have it. All it takes is to post the links to where you get your "facts" from. Simple.
But I know that won't happen because it does'nt exist, does it? Where are the crime statistics? Where are the arrest stats? Where are the conviction stats? Did you get them from the United Nations? The State of Nevada Bureau of Corrections? How about naming your sources? Or is that too much?
I suggest you read "On Liberty" by John Stuart Mill. Or "The Theory Of The Moral Sentiments" by Adam Smith. I have never labeled anything as "right' or "wrong" those are moral judgments which are relatively subjective. My opinion is that the the government should not interfere in the private matter between CONSENTING adults. The state should not be an instrument of enforcing morality only in protecting rights of the individual. It should protect us from each other, not from ourselves.
I have read these works, however you have no grounds to reference them as authoritative as they are objectively no different than a Watchtower rag. there is no objective difference between consent and compulsion under your moral framework. u have no intellectual traction to renounce or endorse any system of belief. more over, u have repeatedly made moral statements through examples of historic injustices; yet u simultaneously deny there is a moral justice to denounce these examples.
even freedom has no moral value or superiority under ur moral system. Stalin and Jefferson are no different to each other morally to u. the sooner u accept this, the sooner you'll stop engaging in circular reasoning. but then even reasoning has no value under relativism... so one need not even be rational to u.
Again, crap. You have cited not ONE quote from me where I advance this. What this tells me is that you are inflexible. You have done nothing but become obstinate, you accuse, but do not advance any other premise other than to accuse me of "circular reasoning" and "moral relativisim". You use buzzwords to dress up your lack of argument because I believe in the end, you can't justify your stance without resorting to authoritanism, like Stalin.
Here's one to grow on: "The only purpose which power can be rightfully exercised over any member of a civilized community, against his will, is to prevent harm to others"-John Stuart Mill (On Liberty)
I suspect you haven't even read these works, you dismiss them so readily. You try to obfuscate that which I have made clear in all my previous posts. You project on to me, that which you probably want; namely unilateral enforcement of your moral code upon others. I am for individual choice and freedom. You may not like my choices or the choices of others, but you don't have the authority or right to prevent me from the free exercise of such. your "morality" be dammed
You aren't getting my point - when prostitution is legalized or tolerated in certain districts or countries - sexual slavery INCREASES. This is because the demand doesn't change - which is why the Swedish model is ideal (in my opinion).
Where do you get your facts? Has sexual slavery increased in Nevada? In Canada? In Berlin?. Has it decreased in any of the other places where it is illegal? Remember "sexual slavery" was the original justification for these laws in the first place. Are you saying that we now need them to be more illegal than it is now in order to make the laws more ineffective than they are now?
I reject the premise in which you couch your statement. The Swedish laws make buying sex illegal, it still punishes a party for an act that is mutually agreed upon. It is just as bad as arresting a woman for prostitution. The laws in sweden are paternalistic; it assumes that the woman is a victim by definition-Bollocks! I believe that the model in Nevada is better, it is licensed, regulated and taxed.
You are advancing a radical feminist viewpoint that is nonsense.
It is a viewpoint that equates sex as something that victimizes women and makes men out to be oppressors. That strikes me as discriminatory and paternalistic. Women are responsible for their own lives, decisions and bodies. Your point of view is equally as destructive as the ones that enacted these laws in the first place. Now since you asserted that there is an increase in "sexual slavery" as you put it, where is the data and statistics that back that up? Prove it!
Google it. I'm tired of researching shit for people. All you have to do is type in "amsterdam sex trafficking" into google and you'll get MANY pages on this. Simple enough?
ty so much for trying to bring some sense to DAngelo136! I very much appreciated reading through your comments; then i guess some people just don´t want to hear the unpleasent truths, so they are hiding themselves behind some economic theories which really never even scratch the problem.
DAngelo - 13 - 14 yr olds are highest in demand in prostitution. Explain to me - where is the consent in THAT situation. Clearly - the demand side of prostitution (ie - the Johns) should be illegal. If men were responsible enough to be trusted in only going for adult women - it might be different'. But they clearly want to have sex with minors.
Once again CC you ignored what I said before: minors CANNOT consent by definition-they are infants in the sight of the law. The term is statutory rape, which is heavily penalized in every state. Having said that, the state has no place in the private conduct of 2 or more consenting adults. The state is not the arbitrator of morality, its proper role imho, is the protector of rights, albeit a limited role.

I like to stick it my pole in her pie hole then slap her around and grab my money back and say ''thanks bitch'' after i punch her in the mouth. thats how u gotta treat these hoes.
I do not know how it is in these countries but in the US women have many options but they choose these lifestyles because of money. They can not do whatever they want to the girl unless it is in the underground industry. If you go out in get into it when you know it is illegel then you have to deal with the consequences of working in the underworld.
So think what that means to any potential 'John'... hire a prostitute and there's a 95% chance that you're unequivocally sexually exploiting someone (and arguably the happy 5% are mentally impaired, so then it's 100% chance you're exploiting someone), and it's 100% chance you'll purchase dehumanized sex. So the odds for anything meaningful, other than an STD, look bleak! ~Ian
I'm curious. What consititutes a non exploitive relationship? If a woman can choose to have sex with whomever she wants, does it matter why she's having it?
It seems to me that some femisits want to have it both ways; a woman on the one hand is empowered on the other she's a victim. Women make their own lifes decisions, some you like, others you don't. Not every one of them makes them a victim.
I think that you're forgetting the very real element of pimps, kidnapping, forced prostitution in an area far from the victim's home and so on...DAngelo.
There is a disproportionate number of women in the sex trade who did not make the decision to enter the sex trade, they were never given a choice.
Because it is illegal/outlawed, pimps have become necessary to protect the prostitutes from harm. Forced prostitution has another name:SLAVERY which is illegal. Everyone has a choice; the range of choices may not be palatable, but there are choices. Not every prostitute chooses out of desperation or deprivation. Who are we to decide for competent adults how to make a living or what to do with their body and with whom? Do you assume that all women are unable to make their own decisions?
Unfortunately, the "morality police"; religious groups, law enforcement establishment types, absolute moralists have a great deal of sway in this country(USA). No politician will stake his future on such a notion. Take a look at this forum, the absolute moralists, will not concede that people have consensual sex for commercial reasons and for reasons other than conception. They opine that commercial sex by definition is immoral and makes women victims. So you can "give" it away but not "sell" it
DAngelo - what do you think of the Swedish model (making it legal for women to prostitute themselves but illegal for men to purchase prostitutes?). This system has cleaned up 99% of street prostitution.
DNngelo - do you know what the average age for a woman to get into prostitution? 14. 14 years old. Once they get into at that age - the girls have no other option when they are 18. Most of them don't have education, no job experience other than prostitution. Is that a fucking choice? IS IT? and a lot of these girls come from broken homes, poverty, have parents who abuse drugs and don't care about their kids etc.
very nice :).I get sick wen i see people saying(specially men) that we choose to be prostitutes or that it´s to do what we want with our bodies.Men has always been sexually free and they never prostitute themselves for that, why in our case we must do so? What men want is us as commodities, they want to do wahtever they wish with our bodies and don´rt be punishe.Prostitution as well as its justifiocations are the highest cruelty done to women.
I guess you haven't seen "Hung" on HBO or "Secret Diary Of A Call Girl" or read "The Happy Hooker" by Xaviera Hollander or "The Mayflower Madam" by Sydney Biddle Barrows, have you?
Oh, I see. Your experience with the subject at hand, and the opinion that you have come to about it, comes from the , far removed, angle of books and television.
I was trying to figure out why you were so long winded over a simple point but now I understand: It's very difficult to edit those long paragraphs that you've gathered from media sources, that are actually the experiences and opinions of others, into a statement of less than 500 characters.
thegirl - I know RIGHT?!?! This guy is a moron. HBO and other TV stations actually profit A LOT by porn. So obviously their views on the sex industry are going to be in compliance with their supporters. It's so funny how this guy claims to be all "enlightened" - yet he gets his information and "facts" from fucking HBO. ugh. how fucking punk rock. haha
Wrong, CC. I speak with those who are in the "life"; prostitutes, pimps, managers, strippers, escorts, etc. I've been related to people on the on other side of the equation, police, lawyers, counselors, and correction officers. The present laws have been in effect for over 100 years, and yet the problem remains. Times have changed and mores have changed, so should our approach to social problems. Or would you rather we return to the Spanish Inquisition?
Each one of the works I cited deals with the subject; 2 by women who worked in the industry, and the other 2 are insights into the industry itself. "Hung", oddly enough deals with male prostitution. Think about it, on mainstream TV, the subject is prostitution, and it's dealt with in a mature, humorful way, unlike some of the absolute moralists that I've been dealing with in this forum.
DAngelo - all of these discussions of prostitution you are highlighting are of women who HAVE CHOICES. The video above, that was posted here (cmon - lets stay on topic here) are of women who weren't born with the same kind of social privilege as those who actually have a choice.
@beigesilkworm Prostitution IS a choice! The problem w/ women like you is that you all are devoid of personal responsibility and rather blame men, situations, society, ect and don't even want to acknowledge personal choice/decisions.
If feminists condone that it's a woman's right to do whatever she pleases w/ her body, then why is ending a developing life (aborting a fetus) not seen as a crime compared to prostitution, which is seen as something horrific?
@ApollosInsight PROSTITUTION IS NOT A CHOICE. We just went to a 2 day conference on prostitution and if it was your sister or mother sharing the stories that we heard.. you would apologize for your comments. You simply do not understand. Did you EVEN TAKE THE TiME to watch this documentary???
@cashmere2007 Yes, I did, and if it was my mother or sister, then their actions are their responsibility. There are plenty of success stories of people who been from rags to riches WITHOUT ever participating in prostitution.
Prove to me that women who prostitute had a gun to their head and were FORCED to do it!!
Well tg44, I DO have some experience. I've been related to persons involved in the "life". I know women who are strippers, dancers, escorts and courteseans and men who are/have been pimps. Some married, some not. One escort I knew, went on to work in a prestigeous law firm, and she's a very intelligent woman who worked her way through law school. My views are my own, based on individual freedom. Your ad hominem attack only demonstrates your lack of ability to refute the logic of my arguments.
James David Manning is chief pastor at the ATLAH World Missionary Church on 123rd Street in New York City. ATLAH stands for All The Land Anointed Holy, which is God's name for Harlem.
it is very telling of the feminist mindset that only women are the victims of prostitution. the Men that are procuring prostitution are evil oppressors rather than victims of a sex addiction (mentel illness) or perhapse sexually oppressed by an abusive spouse. One that punishes a man by witholding sex for extended periods of time until he gives what is demanded. Prostitution abuses both parties.
How about neither one are victims. People enter into trade with one another for all sorts of services and commodities. In this instance, sex is the commodity. Women can choose who they have sex with, under what circumstance, and what the rate of exchange is. Men can choose to buy or not to buy. A victim by definition is someone whose rights are violated by denial of choice. In this instance, where does that occur? Unless one side does not consent, there is no victim, there is no crime.
ur comments show a complete lack of empirical knowledge of the emotional and psychological damage this "trade" has on both parties. sex is a commodity as parenthood is commodity. it's not. it's a social interaction. and to be a victim, ones human dignity must be violated, a defined right is necessary. consent is irrelevant. the ability to Choose does not make any choice legitimate or moral. we can freely choose to kill kids. it doesn't make the choice justifiable.
Utter crap! Everything has the potential to be bought and sold, including parenthood. Havent you heard about "surrogate parenthood"? I only state the facts without moral judgment. War is social interaction also, just with deadly weapons. You refuse to acknowledge that people make choices, you may not agree or approve of them, but people have them. As for damages, all choices involve risk, we don't live in a "nerf" society. Prohibition, moralizing doesn't work, how about a new solution?
These women are long past their prime. They were sick of being treated like meat and couldn't handle that they were sex objects. That doesn't mean that all prostitution is bad. By the way, you're not to first person to have thought that, and people have tried. But guess what? Supply and demand. There will always be a market for easy sex, simple as that.
misshulya you are an idiot. There is NOTHING good about it from the woman's point of view. All prostitution MUST end if we are ever to call ourselves a humanitarian society. If it's so great WHY do 90% plus of them want to get out of it?
Because 90 percent of them can't be profitable for too long? Nobody will pay to have sex with a 40 year old when they can pay to have sex with a 20 year old. And there are good things about prostitution from the prostitutes point of view. The easy money , the attention, the stimulation and rush you'd get from committing a crime, etc etc. Look at things intellectually.
Nothing you have just detailed warrants an intelligible counter argument. If you do not understand why then i advise evaluating your empathic self and your ideals of morality with closer scrutiny.
Raww - BULLSHIT - guess what is in highest demande in prostitution? 13 and 14 yr olds - NOT 20 yr old women. The only men who seem to be going for prostitutes are actually pediphiles.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Oh come on, so pathetic, you are only showing the bad sides of prostitution and the women that weren't strong enough to handle it, there are many others that don't take it that hard, how come we never see them ? Jeezs
The reality is that MOST - something like 80 - 90 % of women in prostitution (and porn) were sexually abused growing up. The ones who can "handle" being a prostitute have checked out emotionally and people are taking advantage of that.
I could get into this debat easily but I really don't feel like it actually, you won't wanna hear it anyway so I won't even bother, just know that many women can block their minds for 15000 a month.
Pimping should NOT be legal neither should trafficking be legal but having willful sex for any reason should be legal. Its pimping that make prostitution look bad. If two adults choose to do whatever they want with their bodies, why should they be called criminals.
Well I don't think prostitutes should be criminalized - I think the "Johns" should be the ones serving time. Often the prostitutes are the ones facing charges and a lot of the "Johns" don't have to do a damn thing - they get a little slap on the wrist.
True - adults should be able to do what they want with their bodies but the reality is that a lot of prostitutes are underage and manipulated into the profession.
Yes you dumb feminists need to get out off your little American suburbs and actually see the world.I was in magaluf last year which is an island next to spain on vacation and was suprised to find out that prostitution was legal. I visited a brothel, it was a nice clean establishment and the girl i chose was not miserable, in fact she was humming along to the rhianna song after i fucked her.Not only that but the next day i saw some of the girls at the beach laughing and sunbathing!

please dont judge men who visit sex workers.
not every man is goodlooking/hot enough to attract normal women for sexual relations.
most women want casual sex relations with very attractive men only, even if theyre average looking themselves. long term relations and commitment are the only option for average / reasonable looking men. what if a young male is single and doesnt want to settle down yet. why can he hire a sex worker occasionally and relieve his urge to have sex and intimacy ?

please make a distinction here between separate issues.
one should be against trafficking & kidnapping of women into prostitution, slavery and abuse of prostitutes, underage prostitution, extreme poverty and exploitation by pimps.
not the act of paying for sex. there ARE women who do sex work of their own free will and its not wrong to hire them.

Grow up and be a man... stand up for the well being of women!
cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: And these allegedly violated women were all prostitutes in a country where they could not go to the police out of fear of being criminalized and imprisoned after they were abused by pimps or clients. So you people think every woman who enters the sex industry was previously abused and degraded? Tell that to Nina Hartley. Better yet find some proof outside N America. I do stand up for the well being of women, starting with not treating them like little children. But you....hmm.
hectorbolshevik 9 months ago
It does NOT protect the women in prostitution.
It increases the demand for prostitution. It boosts the motivation of men to buy women for sex in a much wider and more permissible range of socially acceptable settings.
It does not promote women's health.
It does not enhance women's choice.
Women in systems of prostitution do not want the sex industry legalized or decriminalized.
cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: The Hungarian Sexworkers Association, a union in Hungary that protects sex workers and ASSISTS those who are interested in quitting, and other such unions would certainly disagree with you. I never understood feminists such as yourself. You claim to stand up for women's rights in a male-dominated elitist society, yet you're more than happy to act as sex cops for that elite.
hectorbolshevik 9 months ago
@hectorbolshevik
We are not against sex... We quite enjoy it in our emotionally connected relationships with our partners, or by choice... FOR FUN! Not for survival.
I am against the sex industry using women and their bodies for the man's benefit.
Someday you might understand.... if and when it affects one of your female loved ones. Only then will you 'get it'.
Legalized or not... women ARE STILL AT RISK OF BEING MURDERED.
cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: So what you're basically saying is that for sex to be fun, it has to be in your "emotionally connected relationships". I strongly disagree. So you as a "women's rights" activist would gladly keep laws in place that criminalizes women who go into prostitution for survival. That right there should be why feminists such as yourself should be defending sex workers, yet you're more interested in promoting laws that would criminalize them. Makes no sense.
hectorbolshevik 9 months ago
Legalization/decriminalization of prostitution is a gift to pimps, traffickers and the sex industry.
It promotes sex trafficking.
It does not control the sex industry. It expands it.
It increases clandestine, hidden, illegal and street prostitution.
It increases child prostitution.
cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: Really? Well then...tell me about Albania, Moldova, and Kosovo. All three of these places prostitution is a serious crime and carries a prison sentence. But they have one more thing in common: they are havens for sex trafficking. Legalization of prostitution is a punishment to pimps. For then they cannot abuse their sex workers with violence, and forced payments like they do in the USA. Sex workers must be included in the protection by labor laws.

In your eyes, woman have no reasoning ability or moral agency - they must be forced to be "good" or risk being thrown in a cage.

men would love to be paid by women for sex. that is the irony in the world. men don`t want to pay for sex. They just want sex. if women would give sex as freely as men would, there would be no prostitution. men wish the shoe was on the other foot. this is the situation we have inherited since time began. men don`t see prostitution as bad, because men would jump at the chance to be paid for having sex with strangers. I would support prostitution if it were legalized and efforts were made to ensure that the prostitutes themselves were in charge of their own lives. Right now there isn't any protection for them. When stuff like this is illegal, that means that people like pimps can charge super inflated prices, which means they are more likely to do awful things to get the money.
deusabscondidum 1 year ago
I'm sure perhaps these feminist anti-sex cops can explain why in countries where prostitution is illegal and carries long term sentences (like Albania and Moldova) are the primary exporters for human trafficking. Or why Bulgaria and Romania are seriously considering legalizing prostitution to combat human trafficking. Legalization of prostitution would make it safer for sex workers, granting them protection under labor laws from pimps, etc.

hectorbolshevik 1 year ago
@hectorbolshevik
that's a crock of s**t.

cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: What the hell are you talking about? You're comparing violence against women to consensual sex between two people. Don't be a moron. What legalization does is make it safer for both the prostitute and the customer from pimps, diseases, etc. Ever wonder why the countries where prostitution is illegal are hotspots for sex trafficking, and a higher STD rate among prostitutes than countries where its legal? What are you the commissioner for the Family Morality Police?
hectorbolshevik 9 months ago
@hectorbolshevik
Women do not choose to be used/abused over and over and over and over again, day in day out!
cashmere2007 9 months ago
@cashmere2007: No, you don't have a say. Because you're just speaking for yourself. I oppose violence against women. However, a woman who chooses to accept money for sex is NOT being abused. Its not a problem as long as its between consenting adults in a legal situation - period
TheGlosher 1 year ago
kdurston: one other thing, you can't legislate morality.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
u are inconsistent in your reasoning as you're promoting the legislation of your particular moral relativity into legal code over mine. we legislate morality all the time. rape, pedaphelia, theft, murder, assault are all moral codes that by that nature are legal ones as well. based on your "logic" all these are legally and morally indefensible. you seem to reject slavery, but on what grounds given your argumentation? your views sees people as commodities like sex and livestock.
kdurston1 2 years ago
I'm quite consistent. The crimes you state are the result of lack of consent. No one consents to being raped, stolen from, put into manumission(slavery) or murdered. Children by definition cannot give consent. We are free as consenting adult to enter into contractual agreements with one another, it is that ability that is commidified, that includes sex and livestock. It's done with egg and sperm doaners, surragate mothers, anything that can be contracted for between consenting people is.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
NOT ALL ADULTS CONSENT. SEX trafficking? HUGE problem - especially where prostitution and buying prostitutes is tolerated or legal.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago
Again, Lack of consent is slavery which is a crime. If you read my earlier comments, I make that quite clear. Children, mentally deficient persons, and animals cannot give consent, therefore they cannot enter into an agreement or contract. Statutory rape, slavery and beastiality is illegal. You're attempting to use a straw man argument to bolster your viewpoint.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
One more thing: contractual slavery was part of the founding of the English colonies in North America. Ever hear of indentured servitude? How about the death penalty? How does an abstract legal construct called "the state" reserve the "right" to end the life of an organic human being? It seems to me that it is YOU who is being inconsistent. Morality only reflects the attitudes of a particular people at a particular time. Unless you really like living in the Victorian Era?
DAngelo136 2 years ago
But ur argument was based on morality, not consent. what moral imperative grants you the ability to demand outrage at slavery? you are implicitly suggesting that there is a higher moral law that is to be obeyed. ur point that consent is required for rule is putting itself on an objective moral plain. so to suggest that morality is variable is contradictory. for if ur fist proposition is true, ur second is false. if ur second proposition is true, ur first is false. this is the contradiction.
kdurston1 2 years ago
Now you're being obtuse.I have never advanced my argument based on morality. In fact, you have intimated that I am amoral-which I am. Freedom is based on the ability to contract, even man and the state contract; look at the Declaration of Independence. Morality changes depending on where and when. Do we still deny women the right to own property in their name when they are married? No. Consent, consent, consent. Slaves cannot consent thats why they are taken by force or coersion.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
"Slaves cannot consent thats why they are taken by force or coersion. " AND THIS HAPPENS IN PROSTITUTION ALL THE TIME.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago
You are wrong. There are gradiations of people who engage in prostitution; from courteseans to escorts to call girls to streetwalkers. The reasons are as varied as the people who engage in it. To be sure, there are societies who sell young girls, THAT IS ILLEGAL. But the vast majority engage in prostitution voluntarily, albeit for economic reasons.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
Do you know the social class structure? You know that pyramid shape you learn in sociology 101? MOST people in the US live in poverty. Most of the women being prostittuted are from poverty... MOST women do not get to choose their Johns, they have to have sex with ugly, smelly, creepy men that they don't like or even want to be around.
cannibalcountry 1 year ago
Again,CC you're grasping at straws, people sell their labor or services for sustinance, or economic necessity. The manner of work is still the choice of the individual. Any prostitute can choose whatever "john" she wants, just as as you can choose what job you want to work at.
DAngelo136 1 year ago
"It is not from the benevolence of the butcher, the brewer or the baker that we expect our dinner, but from their regard to their own interest. We address ourselves, not to their humanity but to their self love and never talk to them of our necessities but of their advantages. Nobody but a beggar choose to depend chiefly upon the benevolence of his fellow citizens"-Adam Smith "Wealth Of Nations"
DAngelo136 1 year ago
Having said that, it begs the question; how has prohibition of prostitution affected the trade itself? You already know the answer. Since the present strategies have proven to be ineffective as well as morally paternalistic, why not try another approach? It seems that in those places (Amsterdam, New Zeland, and certain counties in Nevada) they have very few problems. If you have a moral problem with it, no one is forcing you to engage in it. Why is it necessary for you to be the morality police?
DAngelo136 2 years ago
D - you are so full of shit, it's unbelieveable. DO SOME RESEARCH. Type into google "sex trafficking Amsterday, Las Vegas" - when you do this - you quickly realize that the decriminilzation of the sex trade has INCREASED the black market - not the other way around.
cannibalcountry 1 year ago
No CC you are "FOS". In a debate, the one who makes the assertion has the burden of proof. As I suspected, you don't have it. All it takes is to post the links to where you get your "facts" from. Simple.
But I know that won't happen because it does'nt exist, does it? Where are the crime statistics? Where are the arrest stats? Where are the conviction stats? Did you get them from the United Nations? The State of Nevada Bureau of Corrections? How about naming your sources? Or is that too much?
DAngelo136 1 year ago
I suggest you read "On Liberty" by John Stuart Mill. Or "The Theory Of The Moral Sentiments" by Adam Smith. I have never labeled anything as "right' or "wrong" those are moral judgments which are relatively subjective. My opinion is that the the government should not interfere in the private matter between CONSENTING adults. The state should not be an instrument of enforcing morality only in protecting rights of the individual. It should protect us from each other, not from ourselves.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
I have read these works, however you have no grounds to reference them as authoritative as they are objectively no different than a Watchtower rag. there is no objective difference between consent and compulsion under your moral framework. u have no intellectual traction to renounce or endorse any system of belief. more over, u have repeatedly made moral statements through examples of historic injustices; yet u simultaneously deny there is a moral justice to denounce these examples.
kdurston1 2 years ago
even freedom has no moral value or superiority under ur moral system. Stalin and Jefferson are no different to each other morally to u. the sooner u accept this, the sooner you'll stop engaging in circular reasoning. but then even reasoning has no value under relativism... so one need not even be rational to u.
kdurston1 2 years ago
Again, crap. You have cited not ONE quote from me where I advance this. What this tells me is that you are inflexible. You have done nothing but become obstinate, you accuse, but do not advance any other premise other than to accuse me of "circular reasoning" and "moral relativisim". You may not like my choices or the choices of others, but you don't have the authority or right to prevent me from the free exercise of such. your "morality" be dammed
DAngelo136 2 years ago
You aren't getting my point - when prostitution is legalized or tolerated in certain districts or countries - sexual slavery INCREASES. This is because the demand doesn't change - which is why the Swedish model is ideal (in my opinion).
cannibalcountry 1 year ago
Where do you get your facts? Has sexual slavery increased in Nevada? In Canada? In Berlin?. Has it decreased in any of the other places where it is illegal? Remember "sexual slavery" was the original justification for these laws in the first place. Are you saying that we now need them to be more illegal than it is now in order to make the laws more ineffective than they are now?
DAngelo136 1 year ago
I reject the premise in which you couch your statement. The Swedish laws make buying sex illegal, it still punishes a party for an act that is mutually agreed upon. It is just as bad as arresting a woman for prostitution. The laws in sweden are paternalistic; it assumes that the woman is a victim by definition-Bollocks! I believe that the model in Nevada is better, it is licensed, regulated and taxed.
You are advancing a radical feminist viewpoint that is nonsense.
DAngelo136 1 year ago
It is a viewpoint that equates sex as something that victimizes women and makes men out to be oppressors. That strikes me as discriminatory and paternalistic. Women are responsible for their own lives, decisions and bodies. Your point of view is equally as destructive as the ones that enacted these laws in the first place. Now since you asserted that there is an increase in "sexual slavery" as you put it, where is the data and statistics that back that up? Prove it!

But they clearly want to have sex with minors.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago
Once again CC you ignored what I said before: minors CANNOT consent by definition-they are infants in the sight of the law. The term is statutory rape, which is heavily penalized in every state. Having said that, the state has no place in the private conduct of 2 or more consenting adults. The state is not the arbitrator of morality, its proper role imho, is the protector of rights, albeit a limited role.

bundleHastings 2 years ago

DAngelo136 2 years ago
I think that you're forgetting the very real element of pimps, kidnapping, forced prostitution in an area far from the victim's home and so on...DAngelo.
There is a disproportionate number of women in the sex trade who did not make the decision to enter the sex trade, they were never given a choice.
thegirl44 2 years ago
Because it is illegal/outlawed, pimps have become necessary to protect the prostitutes from harm. Forced prostitution has another name:SLAVERY which is illegal. Everyone has a choice; the range of choices may not be palatable, but there are choices. Not every prostitute chooses out of desperation or deprivation. Who are we to decide for competent adults how to make a living or what to do with their body and with whom? Do you assume that all women are unable to make their own decisions?
DAngelo136 2 years ago
I'd have assumed that, by now, the DEVELOPED world would have legalized prostitution.
thegirl44 2 years ago

What men want is us as commodities, they want to do wahtever they wish with our bodies and don´rt be punishe.Prostitution as well as its justifiocations are the highest cruelty done to women.
beigesilkworm 2 years ago 7
OK ask yourself as a woman would you have sex with a man and pay for it? even if you do, how many women will join you to do such.
it's the demand that count, why would a woman have sex with a man for money when she can easily do it for free.
So men can't be hookers for women the same way women are for men, so there.
If a woman wants oir chooses to be a hooker let her do so, if no means no then yes means yes
biggsleezy 2 years ago
I guess you haven't seen "Hung" on HBO or "Secret Diary Of A Call Girl" or read "The Happy Hooker" by Xaviera Hollander or "The Mayflower Madam" by Sydney Biddle Barrows, have you?
DAngelo136 2 years ago

It's so funny how this guy claims to be all "enlightened" - yet he gets his information and "facts" from fucking HBO. ugh. how fucking punk rock. haha

The placement of a person's head deep in their own ass severely limits their flexibility, cc, to quote my dear old dad.
Dangelo fits this description.
thegirl44 2 years ago
DAngelo136 1 year ago
Each one of the works I cited deals with the subject; 2 by women who worked in the industry, and the other 2 are insights into the industry itself. "Hung", oddly enough deals with male prostitution. Think about it, on mainstream TV, the subject is prostitution, and it's dealt with in a mature, humorful way, unlike some of the absolute moralists that I've been dealing with in this forum.
DAngelo136 1 year ago
DAngelo - all of these discussions of prostitution you are highlighting are of women who HAVE CHOICES. The video above, that was posted here (cmon - lets stay on topic here) are of women who weren't born with the same kind of social privilege as those who actually have a choice.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago
@beigesilkworm Prostitution IS a choice! The problem w/ women like you is that you all are devoid of personal responsibility and rather blame men, situations, society, ect and don't even want to acknowledge personal choice/decisions.
If feminists condone that it's a woman's right to do whatever she pleases w/ her body, then why is ending a developing life (aborting a fetus) not seen as a crime compared to prostitution, which is seen as something horrific?
ApollosInsight 1 year ago
@ApollosInsight PROSTITUTION IS NOT A CHOICE. We just went to a 2 day conference on prostitution and if it was your sister or mother sharing the stories that we heard.. you would apologize for your comments. You simply do not understand. Did you EVEN TAKE THE TiME to watch this documentary???
cashmere2007 9 months ago

Your ad hominem attack only demonstrates your lack of ability to refute the logic of my arguments.

it is very telling of the feminist mindset that only women are the victims of prostitution. the Men that are procuring prostitution are evil oppressors rather than victims of a sex addiction (mentel illness) or perhapse sexually oppressed by an abusive spouse. One that punishes a man by witholding sex for extended periods of time until he gives what is demanded. Prostitution abuses both parties.
kdurston1 2 years ago
How about neither one are victims. People enter into trade with one another for all sorts of services and commodities. In this instance, sex is the commodity. Women can choose who they have sex with, under what circumstance, and what the rate of exchange is. Men can choose to buy or not to buy. A victim by definition is someone whose rights are violated by denial of choice. In this instance, where does that occur? Unless one side does not consent, there is no victim, there is no crime.
DAngelo136 2 years ago
ur comments show a complete lack of empirical knowledge of the emotional and psychological damage this "trade" has on both parties. sex is a commodity as parenthood is commodity. it's not. it's a social interaction. and to be a victim, ones human dignity must be violated, a defined right is necessary. consent is irrelevant. the ability to Choose does not make any choice legitimate or moral. we can freely choose to kill kids. it doesn't make the choice justifiable.
kdurston1 2 years ago
DAngelo136 2 years ago
These women are long past their prime. They were sick of being treated like meat and couldn't handle that they were sex objects. That doesn't mean that all prostitution is bad. By the way, you're not to first person to have thought that, and people have tried. But guess what? Supply and demand. There will always be a market for easy sex, simple as that.
RawwestHide 2 years ago
I agree with you, and I actually know what I'm talking about ( not like most people here... )
misshulya 2 years ago
misshulya you are an idiot. There is NOTHING good about it from the woman's point of view. All prostitution MUST end if we are ever to call ourselves a humanitarian society. If it's so great WHY do 90% plus of them want to get out of it?
bundleHastings 3 years ago 7
Because 90 percent of them can't be profitable for too long? Nobody will pay to have sex with a 40 year old when they can pay to have sex with a 20 year old. And there are good things about prostitution from the prostitutes point of view. The easy money , the attention, the stimulation and rush you'd get from committing a crime, etc etc. Look at things intellectually.
RawwestHide 2 years ago
Nothing you have just detailed warrants an intelligible counter argument. If you do not understand why then i advise evaluating your empathic self and your ideals of morality with closer scrutiny.
Nunchuck 2 years ago
Raww - BULLSHIT - guess what is in highest demande in prostitution? 13 and 14 yr olds - NOT 20 yr old women. The only men who seem to be going for prostitutes are actually pediphiles.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago
Well it won't EVER end so get used to it.
misshulya 2 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
Oh come on, so pathetic, you are only showing the bad sides of prostitution and the women that weren't strong enough to handle it, there are many others that don't take it that hard, how come we never see them ? Jeezs
misshulya 3 years ago
The reality is that MOST - something like 80 - 90 % of women in prostitution (and porn) were sexually abused growing up. The ones who can "handle" being a prostitute have checked out emotionally and people are taking advantage of that.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago 12
I could get into this debat easily but I really don't feel like it actually, you won't wanna hear it anyway so I won't even bother, just know that many women can block their minds for 15000 a month.

@cannibalcountry
You are SOOOOOOOOOO right.
cashmere2007 9 months ago
why the voluntary prostitutes do take drugs?
is more people who like drugs, high life, and doesn´t like to grill hamburgers ends into prostitution.
puffolotti 3 years ago
Pimping should NOT be legal neither should trafficking be legal but having willful sex for any reason should be legal. Its pimping that make prostitution look bad. If two adults choose to do whatever they want with their bodies, why should they be called criminals.
newdayo 3 years ago 4
Well I don't think prostitutes should be criminalized - I think the "Johns" should be the ones serving time. Often the prostitutes are the ones facing charges and a lot of the "Johns" don't have to do a damn thing - they get a little slap on the wrist.
True - adults should be able to do what they want with their bodies but the reality is that a lot of prostitutes are underage and manipulated into the profession.
cannibalcountry 2 years ago 7
I totally agree with you!
itzyourcrayons 2 years ago
newdayo - the problem is - the girls who are highest in demand in prostitution are 13-14 yr olds - NOT adults.
