Judges wear robes when officiating in a court as a sign of respect for the institution of "Justice". Even to a wedding we wear suits or tuxedos as a sign of respect to the event. It is distressing to see clergy wearing jeans and tennis shoes (the same clothes they would wear to a baseball game) when officiating in a sacred altar as representatives of God on earth.

Your distress comes more from cultural norms and societal expectations in the "church service", not from Holy Scripture.

Life is worship 24/7 in the New Covenant. No fancy clothes, no fancy buildings, no special clergy class with special services. We gather as much as possible with brothers and sisters to fellowship, study the Scriptures, praise through song, and edify each other through the use of the gifts.
