I think if there’s going to be a Sonic game for the Wii U, it needs to be built from the ground up. It’s more likely that it would be a separate stand-alone installment or in conjunction with a multiplatform release in the future. But to bring out Generations on a platform six or eight months after we release PS3, 360, and 3DS probably won’t be the best strategy.”

The levels in Generations are all re-imagined levels from Sonic's past, specifically the Genesis, Dreamcast and Modern eras. Also, only the Sonics are playable - others will make appearances though, likely in their Modern forms. Cream was confirmed a while back, Tails is almost a given, and Knuckles and Shadow were hinted at in an interview with Ikuza.

In fact, it's being in an item box is reminiscent of the rocket board from Sonic Chaos as is its usage. Optional, but a really cool little toy to play with.

I hope that Spagonia has been mixed with City Escape because if the game is flooded with city levels, I'm going to be pissed.
