  • I have 8 gb's of ram, it says something about me needing to render more than 1 frame

    The amount of RAM required for each background process varies depending on your system configuration; at least 1 GB per process is recommended. Optimum performance is achieved with computer systems with at least 2 GB of installed RAM per processor core.

    Do you have yours set at 1.5? I'mnewto this forgive me

    The 1.5 I have it set for is for the rest of my computer to use, I had it set for 500MB (or 0.5gb) of ram per CORE. If you have a Quad Core, 4 x 0.5GB = 2GB usage. You can certainly go higher if you have A) More cores or B) More Ram available!

  • I notice that under "RAM to use for other applications" you have it set at 1.5

    Will this slow down the performance of a NLE if using along with AE... PP.CS4 in my case... I've got 12 gigs

  • Hey thanks man, great video. Any idea how this works with 4gb on dual cores? I heard that Multiprocessing on 4gb may slow rendering instead of speed it up, and that to really benefit you need about 6gb... but that was just from some blogger so who knows, right?

  • Part 1:

    If you are on a 64-bit OS (Which I hope you are) Then you will be able to utilize 1.5gb's per core while leaving 1gb for the rest of the computer. Which is a decent trade. Using Multicore Processing will increase you RAM preview rendering speed, allowing you to get higher quality renders at a quicker time, but the trade-off is a slightly lower amount of video rendered (So you'll need to RAM preview portions instead of the whole thing, depending on the length).
