  • hayward- ok so if i shoot from half court at the is angle at 28 MPH

teammate- dude wtf why didnt you shoot?

    *duke players celbrating*

  • so why didnt he calculate this when he shot it?

  • fuck duke

  • @skyk1dd fuck you

  • I really hope Gordon Hayward didnt watch this... he would never leave his house again after watching this. Honestly that close is ridiculous

  • If Hayward makes that shot, it's the greatest shot in the history of basketball, period. If...

  • am i the only one who thinks he traveled. it looks clear as day to me.

  • @Sherpaful he took two steps and shot that is not a travel

  • gordon hayward has disliked this video 9 times

  • i dont think he had time to calculate this

  • Thats lame as fuck. Who the hell cares that in depth about a guy's miss?

  • did they just want to make all of america depressed by making this?

  • all this is great and all, but Duke still won. Duke all the way baby!!

  • @smoovsouljah how did duke do against ohio state

  • @buckeyman123 that game was such a fluke. ohio state is so overrated. not saying duke isn't either but they were not that much better than duke. duke just played them at the worst possible time

  • Gordon Hayward's last real time in the spot light. Now he plays Left Bench for a small market NBA team lol

  • its called an aglet

  • who gives a fuck

  • lebron traveled

  • like if you were looking for DA'SEAN BUTLER's last shot

  • This guy obivously has never attempted a half court shot... let alone at the end of the national championship game to win.

  • @BellSouthSucks Actually he has. He did for the State finals for Brownsburg High school and made it. We won by one point. Do the research before you deny anything..

  • something that nobody talks about.....if Hayward took that exact same shot 10 times, this one would likely be the closest to going in!

  • if i was a duke fan, i probably wouldve crapped my pants on that shot...

  • BUTLER STILL GOT HEART BABY BULLDOG NATION

  • this fucker just wanted to torture us more

  • DAMN HE NEEDED SOME MARCUS DENMON MIRACLE!

  • it was a last ditch effort, he had three seconds to get the ball, get to the other net, and shoot. Even though it missed, I'm proud of him for the effort.

  • thumbs up if you turned back the clock and told Hayward to shoot it .5 mph less

  • if i was heyward i wouldnt wanna know this cause i wouldve cried again

  • michael jordon wouldve made it thumbs up

  • I love how 3 inches adds a 3/10 of a foot to his distance from the goal. 0:54

  • i dont think hayward was thinking about his shot's fucking x-axis and launch angle when he chucked up a half court shot to try to win a damn CHAMPIONSHIP, just saying

  • where's the peer review?

  • they say this is a missed shot. but in reality it was a last second pray and was never meant to go in

  • Should analyze how an entire team shoots under 20 percent in a championship game.

  • @1967mustanggta kemba didnt shoot so well eather fag

  • I thought they lost by an inch by it hitting off the front of the rim but thanks sports science for letting me know I was 2 inches off and he was 3!!

  • Tonight all of this has been taken into consideration and the shot goes. Butler is celebrating in Houston and the party takes place at the circle!

  • @1967mustanggta HELL YEAH.

  • Should have done a scientific analyses of Howard's block of Singler!

  • Three inches, my oh my it was so close. We could have seen "Hoosiers II" made right before our eyes.

  • Yeah.... and if the shot had gone 3 inches in the opposite direction it would have totally bricked the outer edge of the rim.

  • Butler has another chance

  • Nothing but respect for those Butler kids. Good luck to them in this Final Four.

  • This type of analysis is fascinating. It would be nice if there were more of it. Not that it would be of any practical use, but it is a heck of a lot of fun.

  • I hate this stupid program. Fking useless

  • what the fuck man. This guy analyses every fucking thing

  • VCU, blah, blah, blah. Darlings of the tournament, blah, blah, blah. Butler all the way!

  • Horrible strategy by Coach K telling Zoubek to miss the second free thrown on purpose...you only do that if there's like 1 second left or less than a second and the other team has no timeouts...cause then they have to throw up a 90 foot shot which is impossible...with 3.4 second there was clearly time to get to halfcourt and get off a realistic shot which would have won the game...Duke would have been better off going up 3 and forcing Butler to make a 3 to tie instead of win...

  • @wow13d... actually your right and wrong.but when he was at the line coach k tried telling him but he didnt get the message because of the thousands of fansscreaming..your right at first he said that then when he was at the line ...he tried but he didnt hear it.

  • @snbalaban ok the coach couldn't get the msg out but how dumb is the player not to realise that he has to make the free throw

  • @nwoalexjones Totally agree. I really hate KY as a traditional IU fan. (That is a sad story) But I have been following this tight since 1984 and I cheered The Delta Devils to coming so close to beating Duke in the first round years ago. Princeton almost beat Georgeton. Who can forget Cleveland St., Austin Peay, Valpo. Gonzaga, and of course Geo Mason. I really cheer the little guy. Think about this: When will you ever see an 8-seed wearing a white jersey in the final four!

  • @nwoalexjones Anything is possible. Here we are again and after that last shot last year you sat there and thought - that is as close as it will EVER come. When will Butler ever make it to that game to that shot - let alone making it to the elite eight! And there they are. I think we will lose a coach out of the deal though.

  • @nwoalexjones You must have Kansas Vs Ohio State on your bracket

  • Still was a very good shot. Unfortunately, I have to root against them Saturday. GO VCU!!!

  • did anybody else notice that the window tab for the link says "Butler's Last Shot Anal" lmao

  • wow

  • come on hayward, fix your x axis....

  • i bet gordan hayward feels like shit when he watches this

  • Butler will make that shot in this years championship game,

  • By the way those aren't the only three variables... there's also the spin of the ball which this dude completely left out. So all in all it was already a miracle that Gordan hit it as close as he did.

  • Thanks for rubbing it in Sports Science. Thanks a lot.

  • Had that shot gone in, it would have been the most amazing National Title game ever.

  • if it annoys u, why watch it. smh

  • God I hate this guy

  • SPORTS SCIENCE ANNOYS THE SHIT OUT OF ME

  • I never thought the ball had a chance to go in, honestly. It doesn't really look that close in normal speed.

  • You watch it in real time its not even that close. And its a dirty bank attempt of an illegal screen and a late start to the game clock

  • every time i see it i still think it's gonna go in...3 inches to the left and it's the greatest shot in the history of basketball

  • Well, at least the release angle was good.

  • yea duke!

  • Dammit Hayward! Why didn't you release the ball at 27.5 mph!!

  • LOL singler got dropped xD

  • @Hlover01 haha i was hoping i wasnt the only who saw that. it was hilarious. and all the refs were to concerned with hayward to realize the the guy was leaning into the pick and shouldve been called for a foul and the shot should have never counted

  • what an idiot hayward

  • The future of coaching in basketball!

  • crazy

  • Cool video, but someone is going to have to explain to me how I can change the speed of my halfcourt shot by .5 MPH.

  • Man, the screen by the Howard kid on Singler. Wow. That's the unheralded highlight of that shot. Amazing Singler got up to celebrate after that.

  • This shot - although he missed - still reminds me why I say this is the best NCAA basketball game ever. This entire game was phenomenal!

  • If Gus Johnson was calling this game that shot goes in.

  • @ Ballay05

Go to ESPN.com and listen to Bill Simmonds' latest podcast @ the 6:37 mark, and have your mind blown by how on you are.

  • this gives me chills GO DUKE

  • Duke got lucky, what else is new.

As if they didn't get all the bounces and calls in the Baylor game, Butler has two shots each miss being game winners by an inch apiece.

  • @rmur23. LOL Duke got all the calls against Baylor, LOL thats funny. Duke won that game in Baylor's home state fair and square.

  • @JZ2001JC Sure, except for Duke shot 10 more free throws and got the biggest blown call of the game in their favor with about 4 minutes left... pretty sure it was a Baylor player who made a shot on a break - should have been an basket plus foul putting them up 5 but of course they called it a charge cause Duke is a bunch of flopping little p***ies.

  • @rmur23 you guys are idiots. Baylor?

  • @genothefox Yup, we were talking about the Duke Baylor regional final. Thanks for your input, idiot. Next time maybe stay out of the argument until you know what you're talking about. Genius.

  • @JZ2001JC Baylor plays in TX genius

  • @genothefox. I know that man. Maybe thats why in my comments I said Duke won that game against Baylor fair and square in Baylor's home state (which was in Texas). I actually agree with rmure23 on one thing, stay out of our arguement if you don;t know what were talking about.

  • Having said what I just said, had the ball gone in it's likely the officials would have reviewed it for - oh - about a half an hour. I'm not sure I can recall ANY call that would literally have decided who won a national championship on the spot. It would have been utter and complete chaos. But because the evidence at best is inconclusive (and perhaps leaning Butler's way if anything), that official with his three fingers in the air tells me "Good if it goes..." But it didn't go...

  • One thing overlooked in the video is, of course, if it beat the buzzer. Most camera angles are inconclusive. An SI pic has conflicting times between basket clock (0.1) & arena clock (0.3) as he's about to release the ball. Also, the backboard red light is linked to the clock. Officials would use this if the release and backboard are both visible. However, the MOST important thing to note is the official standing next to Hayward. His arm is in the air with 3 fingers. "Good if it goes..."

  • IF that shot went in, that would have been the best NCAA finish EVER...agreed???

  • @axwell311 yes!

  • Duke won it fair and square, but dammmm I wish that shot went in. I was very lucky to see Butler play in the 1st & 2nd Round in San Jose this year.

  • Middle of the inside of the rim? uhh... couldnt he just say it woulda gone in?

  • GO BUTLER!!

  • Butler was a literal shoe lace away from making history....lol

  • i give butler credit butler credit but i am a die hard duke fan there is always next year

  • U have to give heyward cedit.....most people won't even come close to hitting the backboard but he almost sunk it to win a title

  • wow why didnt hayward just calculate this before he took the shot?

  • @55445522 hahahaha

  • @55445522 yeah he had 3.6 seconds, some student-athlete

  • @55445522 i know right? what an moron...

  • Guh...sooooooo close! But Duke beating us by 2 points isn't really the thrashing many people were anticipating.

  • So close..

  • i thought this was very interesting and it was a great attempt at the end of the game

  • @bribrifry GO HOME U BUTLER FAN!!!!!!

  • @mtndew110 i'm actually a pc friar fan...

  • this is the stupidest excuse for a show ive ever seen...sports science...if he released a half an inch to the right he wouldve made it!!! oo so the fck what...noone can adjust that wenever they want in a game...this is just useless info..

  • @JayyKehh HEY. FUCK YOU. if you dont like the video then why watch it.

  • @krob2012 I always know I don't like a video BEFORE I watch it.

  • Just too darn bad. This is the shot to talk about for years. Of course there were a lot of if ands or buts through out the game but if this goes in - it is simply legend. I'm sure he will be asked about this shot thirty years from now.
