  • I rekon the UK has to many corners to have real high speed services like in other countrys like if u look at 3:36 that shows u Wat I'm talking about

  • @xatjames its not that its the fact that network rail' didnt properly check the points

  • Why aren't rest of the trains like Virgin?

Greatwesterntrains worst trains in our country.

  • the crash at 3:36 i saw that on the news!

  • Comment removed

  • No doubt Virgin trains are the quickest service in the UK, but compared to other countries we are still well behind

  • These photos aren't even yours.

  • at 2:57 my word that looks realistic!!!

  • Comment removed

  • i rode in one of these and there AWESOME

  • Great video! Interesting to see class 90, didn't realise virgin had them.

  • Great video! shows interesting to see class 90, didn't realise virgin had them.

  • Virgin is the best it has been running since by brother was born and theve only had two crashes

  • I like this train

    surya prakash

  • LOL/ This is interesting. I didn't know that Virgin Group is making trains too.

    Thank you for the information)

  • @Ottonturk Virgin dont make the trains..

    Class 90 - BREL

    Class 220/221 (Voyager/super voyager) - Bombardier

    Class 390 (pendolino) - Alstom

    Class 43 (hst) - BREL

Just an insight :) In the UK virgin exclusively use class 390's , but other services use class 220's and 222's (which are slightly different to the rest of the 'voyager' classes.)

  • @AIRXscapeMusic virgin use 390,221,57,Freightliner 90s on 1K39 lease agreement and WB64 mark 3 sets.Get your facts straight

  • @resigamer17 alright sorry, im only 15! novice here.

  • that was very tuching and i agry virgin trains are the best uk operater!

  • i just like to say Virgin Trains UK are great, Cross Country are also very good! chiltern are not so good i have to say.

  • @emilyxellis chiltern have been fined 500K

  • Nice

  • nice video, virgin is the best

  • I believe it was virgin who introduced the stinky voyagers onto our rails, and for that I'll always hold a grudge against them.

  • Both main lines end at Glasgow Central, but they start about 400 metres apart (Euston for WCML, King's Cross for ECML). Average journey times:

    ECML: 6 hours

    WCML (before pendolinos): 6 hours

WCML (with pendolinos): 4 hours 30 minutes.

Without increasing the speed, the finesse of the tilting alone shaved off 25% of the total time. Which was more than the trial of the flashing green aspects for the ECML achieved, and that was potentially dangerous anyway.

The legacy of the APT lives on...

  • @MumblesCA They DID increase the maximum speed. Prior to the WCML modernisation it was 110mph not 125.

London KX to Edinburgh via the ECML takes about 4hr 30min. So for the equivalent distance there is not much in it. Except the trains on the ECML are nicer. That said both trains are in fact 140mph capable, but both restricted to 125.

  • Lots of copyrighted photographs contained in this video, i presume you went and got the photographers permission to include the photographs before hand?

  • gwr r the best still good vidio

  • @railman01 you're talking rubbish pal, virgin just happens to the best railway company in Britain. Is that why there rubbish?

  • @adam4bfc no that actually goes to chiltern and c2c mate get your facts straight,at time of you typing wrexham and shropshire were actually

  • @resigamer17 WOW, Calm down Man! Virgin Trains are awesome, OKAY not has awesome as VS... But they've set the standards for rail travel in the UK.

  • @mishielai They're crap, a cheapo nasty option when the government and Sticky Dicky Branson (who didn't put a penny in) decided after the upheaval of privatisation and a lot of procrastination to "upgrade" the stock. Cheaply constructed and purchased trains and top whack to travel on them. No wonder Branson's always smiling.

  • Greyrigg derailment in Cumbria 23rd Feb 2007. Defective points due to poor maintenance and inspection procedures.

  • 1:06 Oh noes. Daleks on a Virgin train.

  • Virgin trains are spastic trains. They don't run properly, they slow and stop in the middle of nowhere. They are over-priced, thanks largely to theiving scumbucket Richard Branson.

  • @Richardhedditch261 They're cheaper than GNER/East Coast - and when you first first class, food and drink is complementary - unlike GNER/NXEC/East Coast.

  • @Richardhedditch261 Actually they're a LOT cheaper then GNER and NXEC were, and to this day East Coast. Also on Virgin in first class food and drink is complementary, whereas East Coast you have to pay extra for everything.

But I will agree with you about the Voyagers...LOT to be desired there...

  • @Richardhedditch261 Hear, hear. They were also given government stabilisation packages in 2006 (eg 'Bailouts'), yet that fuckstick Branson takes £24,000,000 a year out of Virgin trains. "Trebles all round chaps!". Voyagers, shite, they're inter urban units not inter city, Pendolinos, shite, the one that crashed at Grayrigg was scrapped after Branson said it was "Built like a tank". I have seen old Mk3 stock survive worse (Colwich junction crash 1986) with no passenger fatalities.

  • @railman01 I was going to remove your comments, But i love them to much. There full of 'shite'. Why place a Pendolino back in to service which could risk lives, I bet if you would be really pissed off if you brought a ripp off ticket and then almost died as the faulty pendolino crashed again. Please feel free to move with the times, sadly the 87 day has been and gone.

Anyway, let look on the bright side you enjoyed the video and left many wonderful comments, Cheers. Remember railmam01

  • @railman01 1 - Is the pendo the fastest, safest and most economical train in britain today? Yes. 2 - woopee doo they have had 1 crash, tell me an oporator that hasnt had a break down or smash... 3 - if you dont like virgin/cross country trains, ride something else, but i doubt you will get far as they cover more of britain than any other company

  • @railman01 i miss vrigin trains I love vrgin

  • brilliant

  • nice miss 43s 47s and 87s doing virgin service but still 90s own

  • love the vid i take it your a virgin fan i have subscribed

  • cool vid about virgin trains.

but i ask what is the crash at 3:40 ?

I havent seen that one before.

    thanks

  • Yes, i think virgin have only had the 2 MAJOR crashes, I believe this 86 WCML service hit a comuter service. However unsure on facts.

    Thanks

  • @bmemodels07 Indeed it did. I think it hit a Class 142 somewhere in Cheshire, if I'm thinking of the correct one, around the turn of the millenium. The crash before is the Pendolino at Grayrigg in 2007, Virgin's other major accident.

  • @bmemodels07 Both virgin crashes were due to points failure not at any fault to the train

  • @simonpercy6 The Winsford Crash where a Class 87 loco hit a Pacer Unit which was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Nobody was hurt because the Pacer unit was empty and not in service. The driver of the Virgin Class 87 saw it and brought the collision speed down to something like 60/70mph - which could potentially have been 110mph.

There were some injuries but luckily no fatalities - except for the entire UK pacer fleet which came under scrutiny for their pathetic crash worthiness.

  • @simonpercy6 winsford 1999

  • @simonpercy6

I believe the crash shown here was one where a motorist fell asleep at the wheel and somehow his car went through one or more barriers and ended up causing this horrific crash.

  • @simonpercy6

The crash shown here is the one where a motorist fell asleep at the wheel and his vehicle somehow went through a barrier and on to track where it caused this horrific crash.

  • @malo66 Nope, it is actually Grayrigg, caused by missing stretcher bars on the points. The unit is 390033 "City of Glasgow" whch is an official write-off. One passenger died - amazing considering the train came off the track at approx. 96mph.

  • @simonpercy6 That crash at 3:40 was the Grayrigg accident where the train derailed and 1 person died all the others survived with fractures after been thrown around

  • @timotei1988 Nope, the image at 3:40 is a different incident.

  • @simonpercy6 390033 was involved in a quite serious crash in 2007 its the reason for the WB64 pretendolino rake

  • I think they should bring back the old Virgin Class 43`s but locomotive in the world!!

  • Sir Richard Branson has mild Dislexea as I just found out on Wikipedia

I don't believe this is true

Not only good trains but good airlines also

  • @albaniaismylife he does have dyslexia,

he has said it many times on documentaries

  • the perfect vid for what is simply the best

  • operater, lol

  • Best Uk rail operater?

not anymore, that belongs to either FGW, C2C or Chiltern Railways now.

I remember they use to do a london-shewsbury and london-blackpool north service, i dont think they would bring back the shewsbury service partly because wrexham and shropshire railway is already doing that so would soon arriva wales. but there planning to bring back the direst blackpool route once the line between preston-backpool N is electricfied.

  • I have reads about the electricfing the line in the local paper, however i think its just election heap.

  • @ ShaoKarn335, HAHAHAH you must be having a laugh, FGW the best operator, ahaha. sorry couldn't help but laugh then.

  • ok maybe i went abit mad that time lol

but i did know not long ago GW beat Virgin not sure wich is the best TOC right now

  • @ShaoKarn335 hope they get virgin back be great specially wen i like virgin but its northan who virgin would have to go threw first

  • @ShaoKarn335 I agree c2c barely ever have any problems. Idk about Chiltern because I don't live in that area, same with FGW. But the only recent bad thing that has happened to c2c is the fire at rainham, and that wasn't a c2c train!

  • Give the XC franchise back to Virgin I say!

  • lol British Rail was, just look at who built most of the locos in this vid. no private rail company will ever be as good as BR.

what the hell was that last pic???

    still that aside nice video

  • dunno whats worse a pendolino or leona lewis..........a pendolino!

  • lol yeah, gotta be they pendolino things

  • GNER was better tbh ! still gd vid!

  • Lol

  • I traveled on a Pendolino once, from Birmingham to London and thought it a massive improvement - that was a while back though, are pendolinos powered by electric only?

  • Hello, Yes the pendolino is an EMU. Runs on its own power by electric over head lines. However it can be powered by diesel if a Class 57 'thunderbird' is hauling it.

    Thanks

  • is not the besst it is to deer

  • Welll not if you have an Young Persons or Friends and Family Railcard, Hell a lot cheaper then coachs and driving long distance's

  • @ioanrhys11

I travel with virgin down to London Euston for return always under £20!

  • Would say one off the best Rail Companies, ashame with the Lack off HST's But easy for me to get up to scotland without changing once, and Have the Best Liverly on the Super Voyagers and Pendolino.

  • @cray1996

It sure is a shame about the HST's, they was planning on keep five a reducing the coachs on them when they were getting the voyagers and pendolino. However they was not allowed, in a model rail mag there a picture of a model HST in their new grey livery.

  • At least part good news, i know they have the Pretendolino running to and from Euston, To edinburgh would be so much better on a HST then a Voyager.

  • didnt the first virgin trains, used to be black and white, when i were about 4 or 5 i traveled with virgin and i went in black and white ones then the red and now the silver, i have traveled with virgin most of my life, never yet traveled in GNER gotta try them before i die !

  • best of luck on that 1 mate as GNER is no longer!! I travelled on them and they werent to bad!!

  • the black and cream/white ones, would have been just after privitelistasion, they would have still been in the old intercity livery

  • too late, they went bankrupt 2 years ago

  • @Alistair627 Virgin Trains started of being Red & Black,

the Black & White was the Governments ''Intercity'' Branding, and stayed on virgin trains until rebranding was complete.

GNER are now defunct, and were replaced by National Express, which have now been replaced by East Coast.

  • 1:27 - can You help me with series of this loco ? Thanx

  • Left - Class 390 - Pendolino

    Right - Class 221 - Super Voyager.

  • @CenTraGZor Class 87 electric, introduced in1973 this was a brilliantly reliable class of locomotive from the BR era.

  • @railman01 - Thanx a lot.

  • Comment removed

  • OK. Big THANX!

  • you are welcome.

  • Virgin pendolino's are my favourite train! i love there roundness, unfourtnatly ive never gone in one as its a western uk train and i liveo n the east. hurrrr. Im sorry but i couldn't help but laugh at 3:37 even though i know it was wrong ot laugh.

  • i think virgin have lost intrest in the east coast line

  • virgin trains are brilliant, im lucky i live near 1 of there regular stations milton keynes

  • @rachaelmatt Oh lucky you!

  • Isn't virgin like the only intercity pass. rail operator in the UK?

  • National Express East Coast/East Anglia, First Great Western, East Midlands Trains...

  • Totaly agree mate. The best rail operator the is. Great video 5* + fav

  • @Virgin390053 The best at being rip offs, oh, and the pendolinos and voyagers are a load of crap as well.

  • VT has changed over time =] A LOT!!!

I like the way their trains are much faster and

    Very streamlined!!!

They make a lot of noise though =]

  • VT are the best!!!!!

  • Well said !

  • @v390 No, they are a load of shite!!!!

  • The Crash at Grayrigg, wasn't Virgins fault. It was National Rails own fault.

  • I never said it was Virgin Trains fault, But it is a low if one of your trains crashs.

Basicly its not a highlight of Virgin Trains it just the lows !

So please read the video, Before leaving pointless comments.

  • In the video you made it look as if it was their fault. That's all i'm saying

  • The video states nothing about the crash being any ones fault. Basicly it not a highlight or somthing good about Virgin Trains is one of there low. Weather it was network rail or not. VT are the best, So ask your self why i would be blaming them.

    Please read !

  • Love Virgin Trains, they are really nice to travel with. Nice, Quiet Trains :)

  • LOVE TTHEE VIDD !! (y)
