The person running the camera here was either a woman or gay. If a hetro male were on the camera, he'd have scarcely been able to pan away from those girls.
What a fucking great song this is. I like a lot The Leagues music, but this song trancends the 80's. It could be released as it is now and it would still sound fresh. A classic, classic song.
to all the facebookers going to the rewind 80s music festival near perth at end of july..here is a few tracks to get you in the mood...tickets almost sold out now..
I always liked the songs from Human league, their lirics are the equivalent to impresionists in painting, several that put accross, like the brushes of old impresionists mastters, show images that depicts and bring alive a state of mind, a mood of understunding, an idea, nothing obvious like in other genres were is always about love going bad. Great music, nice balanced voices, smoking hot ladies.
I remember this song came out when I was in kindergarten...I loved it then and my big sis recorded it off the radio on our big cassette boombox! Wow...cassettes are dead technology now!
"You know I'll change, if change is what you require, your every wish, your every dream, hope, desire..." Bought tix yesterday to see Human League, B-52's, The Fixx & Berlin at The Hollywood Bowl on Sept. 2, 2011...beyond thrilled...I LOVE the 80's...best music ever!!!
ah ha, I've been trying to find out what Human League track is partly played on my Ashes to Ashes DVD boxset & NOW i've found it, i'll sleep easy now! lol
This is such a feast for the eyes and ears; Phil and the girls were so aesthetically pleasing. Joanne does look VERY thin here though:( And for the comment that they look too much like "girls next door" that was their appeal; they looked like "real" people, not plasticised "celebrities". They had an "accessible" glamour, if you get me:)
@judyroodi I deeply share your thoughts..... I was 16 back then , mad about DARE album and I was full of hope for a bright future...... Look at the world now, listen to music now.... I´m going to dust my old records box and use my DARE album as a shield against depression and hopeless. 1982, was a time for every dream, hope, desire....How I miss those days.
I must say I love the Human League, but the intro to this song is the worst they have ever done. I know I'm gonna get flamed but it really is cringeworthy comapred to path of least resistance or even Love Actiony. Just my 2p's worth:)
Im 18 and i love this song, grew up listenin to ma dad play the human league cd and i was offered a ticket to go see them in december so i started listening to all there songs again just lst month and i think they are brilliant, cant wait to go see them.

I loved the League back in the day ... but c'mon ... this song has a "let's cut a commercial hit record for the U.S." stink all over it. It's ... how you say ... crap.
i have my dad to thank for introducing me to this AWSOME BAND! my friends think im wierd as i like electronica and new romantic stuff like this at the same time as like the heaviest of death metal
sounds like right now!! youngsters these days are the most musicaly illiterate as you put it for ages - they have absolutely no appreciation for MUSIC, only singing and who can sing over manufactured beats - very few very big artists have a band anymore - they need only look like rhihanna and they can simply sing over the tune played through speakers - easy money for cowell etc...
Sounds like right now!!! That's the point - it was almost thirty years ago! They were massively ahead of their time! As Phil once said - "One day all music will be made like this - and it is!" They did then, and still do whenever possible, play 'live' even on TV shows (except on stuff like TOTP), and although they do have some parts on sequencer all the musicians play their bit. I saw them live last month along with ABC and Heaven 17 - a great night.
Dreadful?. What ARE you on about?. The 80s produced far far better music than the crap we have to put up with today. It was more memorable, more fun, It was great.
@flares Exactly but when you may be even weren't born how can you know something about It? Go listen gaga, beieber and all those garbage-"music". The 80's were good, I'd say from the 80's till '94 It was ok, after that you had only garbage.
@SSTK1982 What are you trying to say. Are you trying to say I wasn't born or that I don't remember the 80s. I remember the 80s very well thanks. As for Bieber, I wouldn't listen to him if he was the last singer on the planet.
Wow,mtv was new and exciting.

Phil was one of the more glamorous stars of the early 80s, so hot and ahead of his time.
The girls were a mess though, couldn't hardly sing or dance and had that rather ordinary chick-next-door look with a bit of gloss.
Still, a band unique.
Long live The Human League!

todays club music is free of structure, usually has no lyrics and is free form..
