@karthikx10 when you flash a phone, typically there is a chance that your phone will be bricked. it's a risk everyone takes when flashing. i have not once bricked my phone while flashing.
i think cyanogen's rom is pretty good. it's a solid build with minimal errors and whatnots. i usually tend to stick to a stable build.
@cboyerrrrr hi, i would suggest trying to flash the rom again. this happened to me the first time i flashed but i thought something was wrong while flashing so i pulled the plug. phone was stock at the SONY ERICSSON screen for ages. just try flashing the phone again
@cboyerrrrr If you cant get into xrecovery you will probably have to flash the stock 2.1 firmware from SE using x10 flashtool(that msdos like window where you flash by pressing and holding back button?).But what you have to do first is make sure you've applied the correct firmware which will allow flashtool to install 2.1 with no fuss(You can use Bin4ry's flashtool for this).I have bricked my phone once, couldnt get it on,these are the 2 tools I used, x10 flashtool & Bin4ry's flashtool.
@cboyerrrrr CORRECTION - I'm not sure how much difference the kernel makes, maybe try with the same kernel. Just make sure you have the correct tools & files before flashing. 1.SE Firmware 2.Bin4ry's flashtool (to flash kernel) 3.x10 flashtool (to flash firmware).Familiarise yourself with the flashing procedure at xda as you can easily forget a step or two, things wont work and you'll get frustrated.NB-Doing this will remove ROOT so you will need to ROOT your phone again after flashing.
@cboyerrrrr well i have a x8 and what i did is go to mounts and storage and just mount on the usb so my computer recognize my phone and i repaired the phone just like if you updated jajaja sorry for my bad english
flashing custom roms always has a chance of bricking the phone. but if you follow the directions correctly, there should not be a problem. that's no guarantee though. i think the bootloader has been cracked and just now custom roms are coming out. currently i think cyanogen makes a good rom for now. give the x10 some time and maybe they will have some really good roms.
@arcticreaver Custom ROMs have been out for ages. This has little to do with bootloader, it just restricts easier development but it does not really hinder Rom performance other than missing camera, usb tethering + other minor functions.Go to xda forums, under x10 Android Development you'll see that there are many different ROMs to choose from. I'm currently running of MIUI 2.3.4 and its pretty stable. We've moved on from 2.2 because all builds on that are pretty much complete, without bootlaoder.
@telugunewz hi, flashing the custom rom took about 10 mins. it really doesn't take a long time for it to be flashed. the x10 still lags quite a bit. i have also installed the JIT optimizer on the x10 which gives a boost in performance.
im sorted now thanks a lot
