No he wasn't but there was a Book called Death Note: Another Note, the Los Angeles BB Murder Cases. its Mello Telling the story after Kira is killed but it sorta doesn't make sense cause he was already dead but it was a very good book i recommend it

Plus, when Misa was revealing things about Shinigami eyes, which she said, "the eyes", L was scared. She hadn't even said anything about gods of death and his eyes were wide as could be.

@TheSpoofer07 the novel was written after the manga but before the anime. there are at least two references in the anime to B.B. . when L sees naomi he remembers her and mentions it, and his terror when misa mentions "the eyes" is most likely fear at the memory of BB(who had the shinigami eyes).
