@platolol Have you ever been in a hardcore raiding guild. Raiding 25 Hardmodes before the 25% percent buff came out. Trying to coordinate 25 people to do exactly what they need when they need to all at the same time. Sure when you are overgeared for fights wow is easy, but I can tell you that if you it is very hard if you do a fight the way it was designed. But when getting higher gear and then i mean about 6k gs+ fire tops arcane easily.

When having enough haste en spellpower you should defenitely go fire.

Best PvE mages in the world are all using fire nowadays.

Not to forget arcane is still considerable for high geared mages...

Okay so everyone nowadays is arcane and you just proved that fire is still damn good. I myself am leveling a mage at the moment just to play as fire PvE to also prove many people on my server that fire is still good in PvE and I hope to beat most of the arcane mages dps.

Gonna be hard for me since I am used to melee dps "Got a paladin and a warrior xD"

Tier 9 is the class specific gear set, what can be obtained with Emblems of Triumph from every WotLK raid and heroic dungeon(excluding ICC) (higher item level ones also require Trophies of the Crusade from Trial of the Crusader). Its out of date now though, as any raider can easily get tier 10 pieces.

Good stuff, but your dps could be higher if you worked more to minimize your movement.

I know Hodir puts the stacking debuff on you if you don't move and it's best to stay in beams, but often you had the cozy fire buff AND were in a beam and moved for apparently no reason. Maybe you were getting to the energized target, idk.

It's funny cause the crits could be insanely much higher. I had some fun with my offspec so I didn't spec into dot dmg for fire, scorch stacked to 5, activate combustion and then a little pyroblast to finish him off :D

The 100% haste buff increases mana consumption quite much. But it also makes evocation last only 3 sec so its not a problem :p

You can see my current gear and stats by searching Nukermax in EU armory. The reason for the abnornally high dps is good utilization (and good luck :p ) of the dps boosts the NPC's randomly give in the fight like the 100% haste and +135% crit damage given by the Druid and Shaman NPC's.

I havent really played arcane much other than for pvp so I dont know too much of it, but I guess it really depends on your playstyle, Fire is not that hard to play good but Arcane requires focusing more on your rotation and things like missile barrage procs and arcane blast debuff to be effective.

Also I havent seen many mages go Arcane nowadays so I guess Fire is probably better choice at this moment.

There is no "best dps class". For rotation, assuming you have someone else doing crit debuff, do living bomb, spam fireballs and if hot streak procs do it right after your next fireball stops casting (dont interrupt cast to do that instant pyro). Refresh living bomb when it runs out. With 1700 sp you should do ~4k dps raid buffed in fights like patchwerk and sartharion with no drakes. For the ~60k hits, in Hodir fight you get a buff that multiplies your crit damage.
