It pisses me off that, even though her speech was well thought out, put together in a mature voice, and addressed many important issues, nothing will ever be done. It went in one ear and out the other, because these men and women have war and money on their minds and they don't give a flying fuck about the environment. They don't see these issues because they all live in glass houses, throwing stones and not caring whether or not it breaks, because they can just go out and buy a new one.

I know that many people watching this may not agree with what she says, and I've seen some comments go as far as to call her brainwashed or stupid. I understand that many people who watched this believe that she should just shut up.
But the fact is that she, a young preteen girl, has perceived a problem that she believes must be fixed. She has seen people suffering, and she has done more to help them than most of us have done in our whole lives. She should be respected for that, not hated.

Trying to fix the environment now is like giving up smoking once you've been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer. We didn't listen to her and then and we're not listening now. I have dozens of plastic bags from the supermarket piling up in my kitchen cupboard. I drive to work alone. I leave almost every appliance on standby. I should be more proactive but I guess I've grown just as apathetic as the men and women who sat quietly through that beautifully written speech.
