good memories. My Women's Choir is singing this, it took me 20 seconds while we sung this to realise it from Pete's Dragon. During the singing I stood up and shouted "OMG! THIS IS FROM PETE'S DRAGON!!!I LOVE THAT MOVIE!!" My music teacher laughed his ass off XD
Is there another Disney movie that generated TWO hit songs from its soundtrack (Candle on the Water, You and Me Against the World)? Maybe "Marry Poppins"?
Why does YOUTUBE remove comments they don't like, especially when they are positive??????????? Is there a program of what I can say...or not say??? I loved John. He killed himself. This reminds me of him. You wanna take that away?>?? You go for it YOUTUBE. You suck!
SANG THIS FOR SIXTH GRADE CHORUS SHOW and we loved singing it. she's a low part but i was on the high part and when she says "i know yr lost and drifting but the clouds are lifting" my part (high part) sings "oooooooooooooooooo"

Every time I hear this song it makes me cry.... I sang it at my friends funeral and it brings back so many memories. I wasn't afraid to cry on stage even if I am an 18 year old guy.... I love you and miss you Tim I hope you have found peace.
What is with the overmuch backing orchestra and the backup chorus? I know I'm biased because I watched and listened to the original arrangement growing up, but really, why cover up Helen's beautiful take on this with all the extra schmaltz? The original, just a bit of piano, some strings, and Helen, simple and beautiful, why mess with it? The original arrangement is up at watch?v=1-EhH6DvjfM, it's well worth a listen.
"Pete's Dragon" (1977/78) was probably the last "old school" Disney flick ever made: a live action musical w/accompanying animation...sweet and sentimental. Even "The Cat from Outer Space" and "Unidentified Flying Oddball" though very much of the "Dean Jones" school, were attempting to cash in on the post Star Wars hype. Over the succeeding decade, things morphed from "The Black Hole" to "Tron", to the Touchstone Comedies and then the "retro/classic animation" craze ("Little Mermaid et al.).
My music teacher make us sing dis Me and my friend always mess it up we laugh our asses off

@mojojojoplus2 They did that version to promote Pete's Dragon when it first came out. I actually like it. =)

@Autostade67 However, Newsies (1992) was an attemp. But a failed at the box office. But upon it's 1992 VHS release it became a cult classic.

I loved this movie growing up, and this song is my favorite of all time. Thanks for the upload, you did an amazing job, Matt.

Just saw it on DVD. Haven't seen this movie in almost 10 years, and it's still good.
Weird that this part bored me as a kid, and today, it's the most beautiful part of the movie.
You do a good job, Matt. I happily await your next video
