  • @joeschmojo You've really fired employees because they were wearing jeans? Hardcore...

  • Bah! Industrial country problem...

    People are starving!

  • I completely misread "Underdressed"

  • @darn808pinoy DITTO!!!!!

  • My head is about to explode. "He may get a raise or a promotion"

  • I really really hope nobody is taking this video seriously -_-

  • I don't know what is more hilarious. The video in itself or the people commenting on it.

  • @LeBadMan

Doing the exact oposite of society's standards is being a marginal, and is probably as sheepish as being a conformist.

I only do what's best for me, taking in consideration my environment.

But of course, this is much more difficult than just conforming to society's standards and being manipulated like a puppet by governments and marketing.

  • I agree with the people in this video. Low class marginals do not belong in an office. I wear chinos myself and I always wear a suit or at least a blazer. This includes metal ornaments to make my shirt more high class.

  • @kainfury Of course I am a conformist. Are you a marginal, perhaps? Our society exists of rules and laws. We obey them. Perhaps you did not learn this at university.. ever taken "law"? It is a very interesting domain actually.

  • @LeBadman

Wow. So long for your free thought.

Of course I've followed a law course.

But conformism is not only about laws, it's also about society's standards.

Being too conformist eliminates free thought,as you always have to refer to society's standards to make a choice.

So, no, I am not a conformist, nor a marginal. I just do what I think is the best for me, trying my best to ignore

    our standards.

    Ever read 1984?

  • @kainfury By George Orwell? Yeah, but I just love people who conform. It makes me feel safe. I think you know how many sheep out there all follow one idea. It is just so much easier. So by deferring from society's standards you are not a marginal? What about stepping away from the margins (standards)?

  • I highly recommend a new instructional video entitled: "How to approach the type of employee who cares about how another employee dresses."

Forgive me if this is a parody video; it's hard to tell. The advice you give is exactly the type of phony corporate B.S. that we should be trying to overcome.

  • "The fact is that people judge us by the way we dress and the way we look" - and you don't find that in the least bit problematic?

  • @BlacknWhitesAlright its human nature. we analyze everything, and to do that, we try and find information where its available. when you see a person for the first time, clothes are often a way for you to start building the outlines of your image of that person. in the beginning, the woman in blue said it was in a presentation type of context. for daily work, with people who already know you, I agree the way you dress is no biggie, unless its bothering someone

  • @BlacknWhitesAlright It's just the human way. Sad, but true. Many HR textbooks dedicate entire chapters on how a person can be trained to look past snapshot judgments, to avoid being deceived by such behavior, but that takes time and motivation. Left to their natural disposition, almost everyone will try to determine character attributes based upon appearance.

  • Good luck trying to enforce this in Sweden.

You'll have women showing up at the office with their bra and panties showing through their clothes.

  • oh. that's what this vid is about

  • these must be the most boring people alive.

i used to get it a lot for how i dressed at the bank. and the thing is, i didnt wear anythiny different then what the other women wore...its just that some women have a body that clothes just realy look good on while other women can make the same outfit look frumpy.

  • just make it simple.

Hey, you is not looking professional, get your ass back home and only come back to work until you look presentable. B-ATCHHHH

    well, that worked at KFC

  • jesus....this is the end.

  • For heaven's sake, why give a cost-benefit analysis to someone who ignores how everyone around them is dressed? People don't have to agree to dress for work. Try saying, "Bob, it is not professional to wear torn jeans and t-shirts when the rest of us wear chinos and button-downs. Please dress to the standard that everyone else in the department follows." Then, the next time he shows up for a meeting not dressed right, send him home to change (on his own dime) and have someone take his place.

  • @jackal59 Or, another option is that these employees who have a problem with such inconsequential bullshit like "dress" can change their ways? Just an idea.

  • @jackal59 Beep. Wroooong. I have learned this at university. You represent your company. It is written in the contract. Or you do not read contracts?

  • @LeBadman Ah, what?

And sorry, folks, but a fact of life is that people will judge you by your appearance. Believe me, I don't look like anything special. I'm an ugly, aging, tubby guy in inexpensive khakis and a sport coat, and I'd a lot rather wear jeans and hiking boots. However, because I'm wearing the proper "uniform" for my position, people respond to me in a particular way that helps me do my job.

  • @jackal59 You represent your company. So if you dress like a hobo, you insult your company. That is what I meant.

  • That's it, I've lost all faith in humanity.

  • good advice! thanks a lot!

  • makes a lot of sense

  • 00:46 maybe he came from a very different corporate culture
