Bolo to v takom music pabe, takže nič veľké. A mal som asi najväčšie šťastie.
when the people talk about jazz/rock they speak about the mahavishunorchestra, weather report, brand x, lifetime, return to forever, even trybal tech, but don't talk about fermata, and for me this is one of the best bands or that genre.
fermata is my second fovourite group (first is mahavishnu)

No offense but Fermata is a lazy version of all the above. I personally like Fermata but I understand its instrumental limitations. Keyboards, for example, are horrible, outright laughable! Drums are not anywhere near the instrumentality level this genre needs. Even Griglak has his major limitations. Lack of practicing, as we say. Plenty of talent there, just laziness and getting away with it. The only precise musician in (Czecho)Slovakia ever was Freso - that's it. In Eastern block, it was SBB.
sorry no latino for me...I speak only English, Czech, some Russian, but I refuse to speak latino - too many Mexicans where I live. Slavic or English here, please....
Good old days in the seventees when you had real music is Europe???
The same goes for us Americans. Now we have Dream Theater, Symphony X, Tool, and .....crickets chirping.....???
I love European bands hell of alot more. Opeth, The Flower Kings, Green Carnation, Porcupine Tree, and so much prog rock still comes spewing out of your countrys across the sea from us lazy Americans who mostly pose as musicians but fail at writing anything that great in the end.....
My band Ivory Forest is on our way to changing that theory of American prog, lol. Dream Theater, Symphony X, Dimension X, and Tool are unreal American bands, but the Europeans really stepped their game up alot musically. But yeah, my band will be in there as well, I will make sure WE WILL BE HEARD....lol :)
you guys have some clips that I could hear somewhere? I think that too much focus has been put on a few american prog rock bands, when guys like Derek Sherinian, Planet X (lot of X's here?), Kevin Moore, Jelly Jam, Pallas, and more really talented and great music performers are really ommited here...America has a lot of prog - you just have to know where to find it. How about Spaced Out and others?

OK, now you can't be serious....prog rock started in US, man. Long before it was called prog rock, american outfits have been playing it. Just try Ozric Tentacles, or Spaced Out, Ice Age( now called soulfractured, Symphony X, Dream Theater (whose IAW started the new prog rock era). How about Steve Vai, Steve Morse, Kansas, Dixie Dregs and tons of others? You are very, very wrong...
Actually I would argue that prog rock started in the UK with bands like Genesis, ELP, King Crimson, and Pink Floyd. I have listened to all of the bands you listed except Ice Age, and I can say that for the most part I prefer bands from other countries. When it comes to the jazz rock side of Prog however, the US has all other countries beat hands down. Either way, its all a matter of opinion, and I can respect yours.
OK, I thought you're talking about the new prog rock. Back then, it was not even called prog rock, it was called art rock. The new era of prog rock was actually started by (then) obscure band Queensryche with their "Operation Mindcrime" epic. It has nothing to do with the progressive scene of 70's, that's why I thought you are addressing 90's and up. I personally put fusion in the category of prog rock - but it depends on how much jazz elements there are. Thanks for comment
I looked for the Huascaran LP in Bratislava in 1983, but I couldn't find it. This is the first time I have ever heard this Fermata album. I had read an article about Czechoslovakian progressive rock in "Surface Noise" magazine, published in the United States.
no to by som netvrdil.

@kolumbu : pozor, Varga vo Fermate nehral. Povodny klavesak bol Tomáš Berka. Griglak a Freso hraju aj v skupine Collegium Musicum, tam hra Varga.
