Russell always played a great game, every season he was on, in his first two seasons the problem was that people would base their final vote on hurt feelings and not who had played the better game (Natalie and Sandra did NOT deserve to win!). On his third season, he had absolutely no chance of winning because they threw the challenge so they had the chance to vote him off. He is the second greatest player ever, only behind Boston Rob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But in Heroes vs Villains, Sandra didn't beat Rob, Tyson switched his vote which caused him to lose, thats why he was nominated for dumbest survivor move. Also, during the reunion of Heroes vs Villains, most of the survivors (jury and non jury) thought Parvati was going to win. And the reason I think Rob is so great is because of his last season.
@SuperJude Sandra did it by being on their teams.....Sandra's main goal on heroes v.s villains was getting out Russell, how did that work out for her? No ones going to throw a challenge to get rid of Sandra, but they were so scared of Russell, they threw the challenge to get rid of him, and after that their tribe was picked off one by one. Sandra won both times because the jury did not want the perosn who actually made the moves to get people out to win.

The problem with this season was Russell's tribe just wanted to be the first group to get Russell out of the game. There was no strategy in this game at all. Once Russell was gone Boston Rob was able to walk to the finish. This tribe didn't have many thinkers. Sad part is I feel if Russell and Rob switched tribes they would have both made the merge.

I agree, I loved Tom and very happy he won. I also like Yul, Todd, Bob, Parvati as the winners of the game and how they played. @Bax511 As I said elsewhere, a smart player assumes a Bitter Jury and uses that. Sandra is the Queen because she played her juries perfectly, because she assumed they would be bitter. Somebody like Colby screwed himself because he couldn't see that fact and to this day it still kills him. Russell watched ONE season of Survivor before going on: Fans vs Faves. That's it. His whole game was based on that one season, which is why he failed.
Ok! Russel will be back for another season probably ( the last season of survivor..possibly season 30 - as it is renewed for season 26 at the moment). I absolutely love this show....I grew up watching it...I will dread the day when it all comes to an end. :(. But from all 23 season I think Russel is the best player who should have own without a doubt. I'm looking forward to the new season, one world. Season spoiling? Maybe in hero's vs villains, but in Samoa that made the season for me and I am sure a lot of other people too. I know a lot of people don't like Russel because of the way he acted, but if you look at the moves he made, instead of the person he was, you will see how good of a player he was.

He didn't work the jury for votes. He had no social game (which is a big part of the game and nothing that anyone says is going to change that) which was what cost him the first two times he played. He's a great player but the best? If he can win then people might consider it.
@Bibleonian May I also add that Samoa was the actually lowest rated season at the time and H. vs V. probably got the boost because of nostalgia of the older more famous players (Rupert, Colby, Rob) than Russell alone. So he was not even a big ratings draw.

The best player in the history of the game was voted out by the worst move in the history of Survivor, when they threw the challenge to get him voted off. This here could've potentially cost all of the Zapateras the game. Getting rid of Russell was a viable option, but not through throwing a challenge. They were down 1 number at the merge. If they had not thrown that challenge and won it, they'd only would've gotten rid of the 3 minorities. They possibly could have won this challenge, giving them a 6-5 advantage, at least giving them a chance to tie with the ometepes. but hey, karma got to them.

Russell is probably one of the most entertaining people to be on survivor. He's not the most likable but you have to admit he brought VERY entertaining and memorable moments to all three season he took part in. Not to mention one of survivors best quotes "Keep hope alive."
@wyoat1 I have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. I think the first Redemption Island season was like pulling teeth to watch. Slow to no character-building, no individual reward challenges to talk strategy away from camp, and from very early on, we were lambasted to death over and over concerning how Rob would win. i LOVE russel as a player, and think he's brought something amazing to the game. however, i think that having him in 3 out of 4 consecutive seasons was overkill and that his strategy is very limiting.

zapatera was stupid to throw the challenge and vote russell out. granted, russell was a huge threat so their motives are somewhat justified. but you should never, ever, throw a challenge to vote someone off (unless you have someone like ozzy on your tribe). voting russell off gave boston rob momentum to go all the way to end (not a bad thing by the way). you should also never sit out of a challenge for food. immunity is the most important thing in survivor. you can have plenty of food at home.

Russell always played a great game, every season he was on, in his first two seasons the problem was that people would base their final vote on hurt feelings and not who had played the better game (Natalie and Sandra did NOT deserve to win!). On his third season, he had absolutely no chance of winning because they threw the challenge so they had the chance to vote him off. He is the second greatest player ever, only behind Boston Rob!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But in Heroes vs Villains, Sandra didn't beat Rob, Tyson switched his vote which caused him to lose, thats why he was nominated for dumbest survivor move. Also, during the reunion of Heroes vs Villains, most of the survivors (jury and non jury) thought Parvati was going to win. And the reason I think Rob is so great is because of his last season.

@SuperJude Sandra did it by being on their teams.....Sandra's main goal on heroes v.s villains was getting out Russell, how did that work out for her? No ones going to throw a challenge to get rid of Sandra, but they were so scared of Russell, they threw the challenge to get rid of him, and after that their tribe was picked off one by one. Sandra won both times because the jury did not want the perosn who actually made the moves to get people out to win.

The problem with this season was Russell's tribe just wanted to be the first group to get Russell out of the game. There was no strategy in this game at all. Once Russell was gone Boston Rob was able to walk to the finish. This tribe didn't have many thinkers. Sad part is I feel if Russell and Rob switched tribes they would have both made the merge.

I agree, I loved Tom and very happy he won. I also like Yul, Todd, Bob, Parvati as the winners of the game and how they played. @Bax511 As I said elsewhere, a smart player assumes a Bitter Jury and uses that. Sandra is the Queen because she played her juries perfectly, because she assumed they would be bitter. Somebody like Colby screwed himself because he couldn't see that fact and to this day it still kills him. Russell watched ONE season of Survivor before going on: Fans vs Faves. That's it. His whole game was based on that one season, which is why he failed.

Ok! Russel will be back for another season probably ( the last season of survivor..possibly season 30 - as it is renewed for season 26 at the moment). I absolutely love this show....I grew up watching it...I will dread the day when it all comes to an end. :(. @theCRIMSONtradition In terms of ratings: not really. On redemption Island when the merge came around is when the ratings were the highest. Also: if he's such a great player then why hasn't he won? He didn't work the jury for votes. He had no social game (which is a big part of the game and nothing that anyone says is going to change that) which was what cost him the first two times he played. He's a great player but the best? If he can win then people might consider it.

The best player in the history of the game was voted out by the worst move in the history of Survivor, when they threw the challenge to get him voted off. This here could've potentially cost all of the Zapateras the game. Getting rid of Russell was a viable option, but not through throwing a challenge. They were down 1 number at the merge. If they had not thrown that challenge and won it, they'd only would've gotten rid of the 3 minorities. They possibly could have won this challenge, giving them a 6-5 advantage, at least giving them a chance to tie with the ometepes. but hey, karma got to them.

Russell is probably one of the most entertaining people to be on survivor. He's not the most likable but you have to admit he brought VERY entertaining and memorable moments to all three season he took part in. Not to mention one of survivors best quotes "Keep hope alive."

@wyoat1 I have to respectfully disagree with you on that point. I think the first Redemption Island season was like pulling teeth to watch. Slow to no character-building, no individual reward challenges to talk strategy away from camp, and from very early on, we were lambasted to death over and over concerning how Rob would win. Don't get me wrong; I love Rob, but that season was overkill in the scripting department. Extremely hard to watch. Have a great day, bud.

I don't understand why all the people who hate Russell do. Think of all these other players who were villainous and jerks....you still love them. Jerri was the original Villainous and it took 8 years for people to like her. Rob was always a fan-favorite.....Mainly because the 1st Juror(aka, the worst player still there...had something to say) If Erik didn't give the "Worst Speech" then Russell would've won Samoa.

i LOVE russel as a player, and think he's brought something amazing to the game. however, i think that having him in 3 out of 4 consecutive seasons was overkill and that his strategy is very limiting.
i think we need a string of at least 5 russel-less seasons so that eventually he can come back into the game in a fresh new light :)

@randomperson10082 Hmmm that just made WAYYY too much sense! I couldn't stand that Russell spoiled 2 of his seasons, showed a lack of respect for the game BUT he was an entertaining charcter and the only person worth watching for much of Samoa.
Plus, his videos always = massive hits and massive fighting so it's amusing, I just can't stand his fans, worst of the worst overall.

Jeff was excited when he was saying "third person voted out" and even moreso when he snuffed the torch. You could see that in his face and hear it in his voice. I think he'd wanted to do that for a while.

If Zapatera didn't vote out Russel, they would probably keep winning and they would be on number at the merge and RUSSEL would win like Rob. THEY THREW A CHALLENGE TO VOTE HIM OUT AND THEY HAVE BEEN VOTED OUT BY ROB because only Russel can beat Rob. Those idiots didn't understood that.

@bubbletape still not as great as the Samoa finale where Russell acted like a spoiled little child or Boston Rob refusing to shake his hand till AFTER he won Survivor. But still, I was amused at the Troll King, so called "greatest player ever" being booted so early because of, what else, a poor social game.

zapatera was stupid to throw the challenge and vote russell out. granted, russell was a huge threat so their motives are somewhat justified. but you should never, ever, throw a challenge to vote someone off (unless you have someone like ozzy on your tribe). voting russell off gave boston rob momentum to go all the way to end (not a bad thing by the way). you should also never sit out of a challenge for food. immunity is the most important thing in survivor. you can have plenty of food at home.

Russell is one of the best, if not the best, strategic players... hands down to that.
His only flaw is that he's mocking the jury... he should have at least used the right words to defend his actions and to make the jury realize that he just played the game objectively... he just added insult to injury... that's why he lost to both Natalie and Sandra... he should have learned this lesson when he watched All Stars... when Rob was just a childish moron in his FTC with Amber...
