Public TV (Like what is commonly referred to as PBS) usually isn't quite as liberal in the letting things slide.

Just look at what all goes on Comedy Central compared to (pre 2008) TBS.

We tended to self-censor when we were on public access, and even episodes 24 and 25, which were only ever on the internet, use a lot of bleeps. I always used to think that bleeping was funnier than the real thing, but It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia is making me reconsider that. In the James Frey sketch we got some heat for airing an unbleeped "bastard" so this time we were a little gunshy.

A point to consider is YouTube is now censoring their content, not that it really effects your videos (yet) - but essentially, "offensive" videos are being kept out of the "Top Viewed" lists, among other places. Also - videos that are flagged for "18 or older" I am not allowed to earn revenue on - the swears rarely will do that themselves, but it is worth considering.

Keeping it PG only widens your audience...

Not necessarily that it is funnier-- just that I am challenging my own dogmatic assumption that always bleeping is absolutely the best option.

I'm pretty sure that our videos will never find a particularly large audience on YouTube anyway, and part of the fun of being on the fringe is that you can get away with more.

The fact that YouTube censors videos kind of makes me want to stop bleeping altogether. Why do I do this to myself, and others?
