This makes my heart drop! Our German shepherd has huge job protecting 2 chihuahuas and a farm full of poultry in the Maine woods. We have a lot of coyotes and it is incredible how quickly they attack and run!

I heard my dog barking outside one day and opened the door just in time to see a coyote come up over the hill after boo (my wienerdog pitbull mix, about a foot at the shoulders but 45lbs of pure muscle) so i grabbed my gun but they were already fighting.

Long story short.... Wiley ran about 200 yds with Boo attached to his neck. Boo came back w a little hole in his ear.

Now his favorite thing to do is sit on the porch and wait for Wiley

Thats one VERY lucky lil dog, pretty stupid to leave a small toy breed alone outside. They are basically livin chew toys and food to larger dogs and predatory animals. Eagles, raccoons, bobcats, coyotes, bears and a few other critters will make a quick meal of a toy breed dog fairly easily. I bet this was a young coyote that didn't have much huntin experience or that would have been one dead lil dog. glad it's not though

My dogs did that once,one of the neighbors puppies was being attacked by a rabid coyote(yes it was rabid) and my old boxer/lab and blueheeler/terrier/coyote lol attacked and killed the coyote. We turned in the coyote for testing, and ya it had rabies, by some miracle my dogs didnt contract it. There wernt bitten nore did they puncture the flesh, my boxer/lab just crushed its head in his jaws.
