If i can say one thing though is that in chen style the upper body moves more and the knees move less than what you are showing. You do have th econcept of moving at the hips correct though.
I've studied chen from two different instructors on the east and west coast, both from China with decades of experience and I've never heard anything about the upper body moving more and the knees moving less. You may want to review that post again. Thanks for the encouragement, though!
im learning yang style tai ji quan at shorelineCcollege. my teacher is taught me to never use your hips but your waist because using your hip will impact your lower body, which therefore cause your knee to move along with it and could do great damage to your knee.
she said something like, the qi(chi) comes from your feet, travels up your legs, comes up around your waist and let out from your hands.
Chen is very interesting. Its more of a combat style with some real world practical application. This particular version is somewhat different than the version I studied in LA so if I look a little awkward its because I'm having to relearn some movements.
