  • is it still for sale?

  • that aint a damn v6 its a v8 from 1960 to 89 they put those motors in just about every chevy truck from a pickup to a blazer but that motor was shit when they put them in the blazers

  • @offroadingfreack97 It's a v6. Can you count spark plugs? The 305 v8 was first put in trucks in 1976. GMCs had a full line of "big block" v6es, from the 305 to the 351. There was also a V8 but I can't recall the displacement, and a 702 cubic inch V12 in the huge trucks.

  • @donbehatin well exuse me for being 13 years old

  • @offroadingfreack97 Don't spread information that you're unsure of. Most people aren't as nice as I am when it comes to that sort of thing.

    Just a word of advice.

  • @donbehatin well my dad had an 84 k5 and it had a 350 small block out of a 72 chevy camaro and the guy we bought it from bought it originally off the show room floor so it used to have a 305

  • @offroadingfreack97 just so you you lil fella a small block refers to everything from the 265 to the 400 cid chevy engines (CID = cubic inch displacement) look almost identical on the outside. diff cubic inches comes from inside , bore & stroke. The 305 CID V-6 was a industrial engine used in farm machinery & big trucks as well as pick-ups. Has huge pistons Was a pulling mule , I had a 63 3/4 ton 4-wd with that engine..... out pull any truck on the farm.

  • @smelzodeath yes i know what a small black is and what it refers to in my machanics shop im considerd a grease monkey

  • @offroadingfreack97 Nothing wrong with being a grease monkey, may save your life some day...... Im sure I have tools twice as old as you, but actually you might wanna spend alittle more time learning to spell? Keep on wrenching! Wanna be wealthy & famous? invent a engine that gets 100 miles to the gallon. Or runs on a fuel that is common & safe.

  • @smelzodeath i know how to spell i was just really tired but yeah i will keep working on cars untill the day i die

  • wow how much very sweet thanks

  • it would be nice to own that but not with that transmission, that 3 on the tree was the biggest pile of trash

  • Terrific truck! Good luck on the sale. I'm in Newport, but wouldn't have any place to put it (already have an oldie on my one-car garage)!

  • Ive heard them with 50 series flowmaster w/ dual pipes and it sounds great

  • the bubbling is rust coming out from under the paint job of the bottom corner of your door.

  • So how much you asking for it?

  • ive got a baby blue 1963 Gmc with a 305 V6 with a 4 speed the valve covers are plaid.. it came outta the factory stock that way .. they called it the scottsmans special .. and yes the 305 is also a v8 .. but GM made a 305 V6 a 351 V6 and 478 V6 .. they put 2 351 V6 together and made a twin 702 witch they used in the bigger trucks like dump trucks in such

  • isn't a 305 a v8?

  • yes, but they also made 305 V6s

  • hey i just sold a 63 just like this to finish my chevelle project infact just as good condidtion as this curious what you sold it for...? i took what i thought was dirt cheep for mine which was 3500

  • wow, she is beautiful!!!

  • That is a beautiful classic truck, if I had the money, I'd buy it in a heartbeat :~) I'm sure it's gone buy now!

  • How much will you sell it for?

  • Did you sell it. Sure was a nice truck.

  • i have a 63' very similar in condition but its my only vehical and i worry about these colorado winters im afraid i must sell it. may i ask how much u want? or how much you sold it for?

  • thanks for sharing i have a 62 send me some tips

  • Damn, what is that terrible noise coming out of the radio. That needs to be fixed... Very nice truck though...

  • i had an 1960 and i put over 800,000 miles on it.

  • WOW!!! I have a 63 shortbox that I'd give my left nut for to look this good!!

  • btw, im from NM and we dont salt our roads, we use dirt, thats why our trucks have clay, not rust.

  • how many miles to the gallon

  • Only calculated the mileage once on a 165 mile trip. It got 17 miles to the gallon. Not bad for a one ton truck with a 4:10 to 1 rear gear.

  • thats actualy pretty good gas mileage because are my old 1970 gmc had a chevy 350 in it and it only got 7 miles to the gallon boy just to think that was my daily driver

  • holy shit. i want mine to look like that. How did you get that 305 to sound like that. would love to know. i had a cherry bomb but didnt sound good.

  • If you use a stock muffler with single exhaust it will sound great. If you put a glass pack or high performance muffler it will not sound right. A 6 cylinder will never sound as good as a V8. Do not waste your time with dual exhaust on a 305 V6 you will gain nothing and it will sound worse than single exhaust! You may even loose power! These motors make great low end power and dual exhaust does nothing to improve power at low RPM's

  • @1950cobrajet AMAZING NICE!! My childhood!

  • I am thinking about getting a 64 with the same engine but it has some moderate body damage and a broken winshield, but I was wondering, are there any aftermarket performance parts for these engines?

  • 305 V6 engines are to heavy (850 lbs) and there are no aftermarket high performance parts available. Not a good choice for hot roddin, however you can put a holley carb & add a hei distributor & dual exhaust with a cross over pipe. I would go with a V8 , the market is flooded with cheap small block chevy parts. V8's sound a lot better than a 6 cylinder ever will. Plus a V8 will boost resale value.

  • hey, where in ri are ya?

    take it to any shows?

  • ig ot a 62 gmc grain truck its got a 6cyl can anybody tell em what the cubic inches of it might be ? and i love the idea of these old trucks that got the hydrolic clutch usin the same resivior

  • It is probably 351 cubic inches, but it could also be a 305, 401, or maybe even a 478 cubic inch.

  • no no its a straight 6 its kida weird its distributer advance system is external so it turns the whose distributor instead of just turning the points

  • All USA built GMC's had the V6 from 1960-66, The canadian (1960-66) GMC's came thru with the straight 6. If your engine is original to your truck it is probably a 250 cubic inch, later on they came thru with the 292 cubic inch straight six motors.

  • i think its original but its got alot of room in the engine bay for a bigger engine can you tell me what kinda power it might be makin?

  • Trust me---these big block V6's will not let you down. They are a beast of an engine and shouldn't have even made it into these 1/2 to 3/4 trucks. Toughest engine of the '60s.

  • Hercules engine???

  • These engines make 320 foot pounds of torque at 1600 rpm's. these motors weigh in at 900 lbs. a 350 small block chevrolet weighs 500 lbs. These motors make a 350 small block chevrolet motor look like a toy. I have taken one of these motors apart and I can assure you that every internal component is massive and rugged. a heavy duty truck motor in a light duty truck. To answer your question these motors earned the nickname Hercules by a lot of owners. (old timers now)

  • Hercules???

  • 1 got a 68 and i love it click on my name too see it

i love that truck i have one like it but doesnt run,,,,

  • thats nice

  • Beautiful truck, you should def. consider keeping this truck, true American beauty.

  • in the 70's they made a 305 v8. In the 50's & 60's they had a whole different series of motors. I believe the 305 v6 is basically a 348 v8 missing two cylinders. w code engines.

  • the 305 v-6 is a 60 degree design and has nothing in common with the 348, ie its not as the 4.3 chev v6 is to the 5.7 v8. note also the spark plugs are on the inboard side of the heads. they used big heavy blocks as well.

  • Well, I appriciate being set straight. Thank you, for educating me and not being a smart alec. I guess I have research to do, yes?

  • isnt the 305 a V8

  • Gorgeous old truck! I was kind of surprised to see a column-shift three-speed behind the Jimmy six. Seems most were equipped with the Saginaw-Muncie 420.

And the last year for the knee-knocker windshield, too! (I'll bet you know how it got that nickname!)
