  • I'm having this done on Friday to check for celiac disease. I'm not sure what I'm more scared of now: the disease or the procedure....

  • I had one that was as thick as a garden hose and they said if i wouldnt be quiet they would use one which had attached a brush and sprinkler to wash the nastyness out of my mouth.

  • Oh yeah...let me tell ya pal..i had one today..and thought that id be sedated...but the freakin doc just sprayed my throat, which made maters worse, and i was fighting for live...never do it again with no sedation. Ive done this before being sedated and slept all the time ..felt nothing..but today was a nightmare ill never forget. My advice to all those scheduled to do it...always ask for sedation.

  • I was sedated but not knocked out. I barely remember anything. I had an endoscopy and then a colonoscopy. I kind of remember throwing up but I'm not sure, it was weird and trippy because I was awake but I have no recollection of anything... anyway it was a breeze, I was so anxious but I'm 13 and it was really easy. And if you get partial sedation you won't remember a thing, if you're knocked out then you won't feel a thing! My throat hurts a little now but not much.

  • Shit, he handled that well!!!

  • I'm having my procedure performed tomorrow afternoon. I'm a bit nervous! But hopefully it'll all go well! I'll give an update afterwards :)

  • @bellabop88 So... did you survive?

  • He got the hiccups lol awww

  • Just come back from having one. This guy was probably partly sedated, I was not! Man, it's not cool! You start dry heaving and that hurts with that thing in your throat and stomach. They told me I did great and I was quite relaxed but even so it wasn't fun.

  • That was so cool! I'm having one soon, and that definitely looks easy enough! I couldn't tell if the patient was totally knocked out, but I hope I'm not. I would like to see what my insides look like. I wonder if they would record mine?

  • SOOOO excited too finally get this done! getting it done tomorrow.

  • This is one of the easiest thing Ive ever done!!! Yes they do put you to sleep, for the people who never got put to sleep dont worry. Once the sedation doctor puts the sleeping med in you will feel a slight chill on your arm and everything will be a little blurry and thats the last thing i remember. When you wake up it feels like a normal sleep and you will be like, Is it over?, P.S. You need to try to burp a little bit after the endoscopy, they use alot of gas.

  • those tiny steel clamps just clamped down & Tore a chunk of stomach lining meat like it was nuthing. Oh lord i dont want no part of that. Ouch. Then the camera got stuck in his throat on the way out. *cringe*

  • By the way...in my case, I was knocked out before all the hookups were on me and awaken without them on. I saw this video to see what the doctor does, how's the machine, and how the procedure goes.

  • I had one done last week, I didnt know the doctor was done with the procedure once the nurse told me to wake up!

  • fuck the ads

  • ahhhhh

  • can i know how bad the sedation needle hurts im getting it nxt week. :)

  • @gmanskater1234 they usually put a mask over you before they do the IV. so you're asleep even before.

  • @CamOfficialMusic lol thx but thats 4 months ago :) it happened and it was simple.

  • I had mine done this morning. Thanks for allowing me to see what was actually done. I had no pain or side effects afterwards.

  • fucking ads

  • I had mine done this morning. They sedated me. All I remember is getting the injection and then walking out to get in the car with my wife. Better than going to the dentist.

  • sooo, basically I need to get this done in a couple of weeks time. should i get totally knocked out? i could always go for a local anaesthetic (which is what i sort of intend to do right now). i could do with a bit of advice. thanks.

  • @ 3:29 it looked like he jumped a bit!

  • pause at 0:57 epic rape face

  • y were u awake????? does it hurt!?!?!?!? i had mine done with anesthesia!

  • had one yesterday. not nearly as bad as i thought. a bit of gagging at first, but once the tube is in you dont think about it. now i wont be nervous next time. piece of cake.

  • @MrJtr1888 wow really? i thought i was gonna die

  • @purpleturtlification you had a bad experience?

  • @MrJtr1888

you had it for acid refluc?

  • i had a colonoscopy yesterday and it was my second one. but this time they didnt completely knock me out so when they removed a palop and took a biopsy it hurt like hell! i was so pissed when i woke up!!!

  • Allright, and were gonna: "Open" ... "Close" ... As you can see here I'm demonstrating how Awesome being Surgeon is.

  • the scope does not go down into your trachea (your "breathing tube"). It goes down into your esophagus where your food goes. You can breathe fine and normally during the procedure. it does not cause pain and you are either heavily sedated or asleep during the procedure. You cannot feel the biopsy at all.

  • Just had this done this morning. My doctor used Propofol, so I don't remember a thing. All I've got is a bit of a sore throat.

  • Going to have it done in Monday... Seems like fun

  • hi i am 34 year old male and have had bad adominal pian for years now had this endo and clonaspy 3 years ago they for bacteria in my stomach and scaring of the esofagus but in the last month i have had strange feelings like a heart attack and have had heart burn for a month every day but now i have noticed im haveing very black stool to for a month and black outs and feel like no 1 knows wat worng chrons runs in my family but im just scared pls help me thanx

  • @crystalrcmommy Go to a doctor. Black stool usually indicates internal bleeding. I think you might have ulcers.Hope this helps

  • I just had this done today, easiest thing I've ever done in my life. If you're scared or worried or anything, lay back and don't worry about a thing, it's awesome. The new modern scopes they use are like tiny pieces of pasta and once you're done you will feel refreshed and no tenderness in your throat or anywhere else. Don't be scared, no joke it's probably the greatest thing I've ever done.

  • @ChemicalOrigiN My mother is having this done on this thursday. She's 85 and she's having it done cuz she can't properly digest anything. My question is: How do they keep the patient breathing during this process? I know that putting anything down once throat creates lots of discomfort.

  • @hotathlete2 They put a small little wire across your face with 2 little nozzles that shoot oxygen very slowly into your nose. And as for putting anything down the throat, I'm positive she absolutely won't feel a thing. All they do is ask if you're comfortable and then they tell you to relax and before you know it, she's going to be 100% fine laying right next to you sleeping for about an hour. Like said, the scopes used today are so tiny that no irritation should occur, she'll be just fine.

  • @ChemicalOrigiN Thank you, that's very reassuring.

  • @ChemicalOrigiN lucky you, i just got one yesterday and they used an older, thicker tube, and I am as sore as a motherfucker.

  • @mastererik323 Well, shit. That sounds rough. Those tubes are like garden hoses from the 1940's.

  • @ChemicalOrigiN I've done this today, and without any IV, in the video they gave him a shot . I only had throat numbing, and then the rest is same, except I'm well aware and not asleep, watching the screen in front of me. it's very uncomfortable, feeling like a pipe going down my throat. and there is occasional gag but nothing comes out , stomach is already empty.

  • i might have 2 have this done as well as a colonoscopy, and there is no way i'm having twilight sedation or throat spray.its either fully unconscious or no procedure

  • Great Video and informative, thanks.

  • I had this done 4 days ago. Only thing I remember is saying hello to the Dr. when he came in. I woke up on my couch at home and was in a panic because I thought I had miss my appointment :) My wife said I was awake and talking with her and the nurses.

No pain, no sore throat and the drug they put me out with was fantastic! Don't put this off if you need it. The only hassle was a day off of work. And sometimes that is a good thing.

  • I just had one a couple of hours ago. How fun! The only thing I remember is waking up and feeling the tube down my throat and gagging and dry heaving like crazy. They tell you to fast for multiple reasons. They don't want you throwing up on the endoscopy camera tube thing. It wasn't painful at all, just uncomfortable gagging...ugh. I guess the sedative they used wasn't strong enough.

  • I will undergo this procedure on August 6th in San Diego. I have been treated for H. Pylori since I was diagnosed with that bacteria last year around this time. Although the severity of the pain now as compared to when I first sought treatment is a fraction of what I felt, I think having the procedure done will finally answer the question as to why I keep feeling so lousy.

  • I've had this done twice in the past year. The first time I attempted it without any anesthetic and I just gagged uncontrolably when the camera was being put down my throat. As I hadn't eaten, nothing came up, but it was just a horrible sensation.

The second time I requested to be put under general anasthetic. This time I was wheeled into the room, put on my side and given an injection. I woke up some three hours later. Didn't remember a thing!

  • @RonaldoGOTM Hi, I'm due to have this in a few weeks. Just wondering how do you feel after being sedated, I mean after the procedure. Are there any after effects? I'm just wondering if it's better to deal with the gagging etc and be fine afterwards or have the sedation?

  • @sackmajik the sedation is just like having a black out. The last thing I rememeber was being wheelend into the operating theatre, then I woke up 2/3 hrs later. It seemed like a minute or two had passed. I remember looking over to the nurse and asking would the procedure take long, to which she replied "we did the procedure 2hrs ago :)"

I personally never want to go through the gagging again in my life. I wouldn't wish that sensation on my worst enemy. The nurses held me down throughout too

  • @RonaldoGOTM you just said you couldnt remember having it, and then at the end your saying you wouldnt wish it up on your worst enemy??? so which is it, black out or horrible?

  • @cheatingwanker no no, the 1st time I had it done I refused anastehtic and was gagging like a mad man. I wouldnt wish THAT on my worst enemy. I was sedated second time round and it was fine. If you're getting sedated you've nothing to worry about. You'll lie down on the bed, get an injection, and wake up a few hours later. :) You wont feel anything

  • is this a good idea for my 11th month old? they want to do it next month

  • I had mine today. Its easy. Before you know it your waking up in recovery room

  • @Armystrongsocal oh, you go under? wonderful.

  • @prestonparish Yeah you get anestia.

  • oh boy. >.>

  • had this done today, super quick procedure, i was under anesthesia and completely asleep. not painful at all, and i have some pretty neat pictures, waiting for my biopsy results.

  • @mrconordylansmith i hope that they are clean and negitive

  • @masterchiefjoe Thank you!

  • @mrconordylansmith your welcome.

  • @mrconordylansmith In real time, how long would you say this procedure lasted? I plan to have the local anesthesia, I don't suppose this would affect the time span.

  • @takineti well i went in at 11:30am, prepped at 11:50, and by 12:15 i was out the door. If you plan on having the anesthesia you WILL need someone to drive you because you will be drowsy for a good 2 hours after the procedure. hope this helps and good luck!

  • lmfao he hiccups at the end of his procedure, idk why but this made me laugh xD

in my endoscopy i was given a full anesthesia..I was out cold..only complication was a sore throat afterwards and the propifol gave me an allergic reaction :/

  • This is what I am going in for in the morning. :( so scary lol

  • I was unconcious when they did it.

  • o god i do not want to go through this at all.

  • had it done 3 times 1 a bit sedaterd 2 no sedation aint that bad !

  • ouaaaa truc de fou!

  • totalement barbarique!!! on est passé l'an 2000, non? z'en ont pas assez avec ces totures médiévales?!
