  • Mr. Satoshi Kon, you have our deepest gratitude. Rest in piece...

  • RIP Satoshi Kon.

    And thanks for the beauty.

  • the movie is amazing O_O

  • wow.. this is really cool.

  • what is the name of the song

  • hirasawa susuma-baikai ;P

  • ^^ thx

  • @xxsoulanimexx "Mediational Field" by Susumu Hirasawa

  • really love this movie, beautifull piece of art, i live in holland so anime is just small here and i was thinkin like ''i hope paprika comes out on dvd in holland'' and just a minute later i looked to the right and i saw the dvd , tottally tripping and everyone was staring xD but it was 20 bucks and i didnt had that cant of money but then my best friend came along withan early christmas present,,..so geuss what she bought me :D and still loving it

  • DVDs of anime in Paris or London are often cheeper than in Japan.

  • great movie got the soundtrack but im a bit confused could someone explain the storyline to me in a message? so as not to spoil it for others!

  • Paprika is great

  • Ok, watched this movie yesterday on HBO and was frankly blown away. Seriously, you have to applaud Japanese animation scene. They come up with such twisted stories, its unimaginable. Its time I kick my cable operator for removing Animax channel...

  • I think most get their stories from novels, but you'd have to check me on that... but I find their art style so much more satisfying than modern american cartooning which gives no homage to beauty

  • The DVD for this anime is in Hawai'i like a LONGGGG time ago maybe 2 years ago I seen it at wal-mart in Hawai'i. xD

  • I still think Millennium Actress is his best movie. So great.

  • Without knowledge of Japanese movies,

it's a little difficult to understand the scenes in MA.

(To understand parody, we must know the original)

  • Can we all say, with confidence, that this is Satoshi Kon's best work?

    I can. :)

  • Perfect blue is pretty good, but I can't say with confidence that its better than Paprika.

  • They both have a similar creepy feel to them. I'd say they're about par with each other. Both are extremely exceptional anime.

  • This is my single favorite movie.

  • loved it .

Love love love loved it .

it was a beautiful piece of art and I loved every minute of it .

Im definately getting this on dvd .

  • I need to buy the soundtrack this is great

  • lilvodoo, what didnt you like about the film, this is a Satoshi Kon film, and it has all his style you would excpect from him, anyone who knows Kon's work would know what they are watching. I love the film and think it is Kon's Master work. It is obvious you have never seen a Kon film before if you did then you would know excatly what to excpect, and this film delivers.

  • is there any other movies similar to this one?

  • I would try a couple of his called "millenium Actress" "Perfect Blue" and "Paranoia Agent" i havent seen paranoia agent but i hear its just as good

  • Brilliant intro.

Any else noticed that all of Kon's film seem ultimatley be about repressed memories any self denial?

  • My fav. bit is when she comes out of the computer and puts his jacket on him, and the "pick-up artists". Such girlish charm, how can you not fall in love with her?

  • i want someone to sing this song on american idol lol

  • "i want someone to sing this song on american idol lol"

Damn, that WOULD be impressive, and I can't stand American Idol. ;)

  • lol neither can i, but i would still vote for them if they did

  • Great touching movie about lucid dreaming =)

  • Well that IS your opinion

  • "god this movie was so bad..

    expected so much more -_-"

Well, what didn't you like about it? What is it missing?

  • what was so bad about it? I watched it and i thought it was phenomenal! I guess it just isnt for everybody...

  • looks great

  • 1:32 Those guys just got PWNed!

When I saw the movie, I could have sworn there is a traffic light in the scene at 1:42.

  • Actually song is called "Mediational Field" on the album soundtrack. "Parade" is the song they play whenever the parade is happening in the film and "Girl in Byakkoya" is the song that they play over the end credits.

  • Paprika is so awesome, I love it!

  • cool

  • What is the song? I love it!!!

  • Girl in Byakkoya

  • No, this song is called "Nigeru Mono"

  • The original soundtrack claims it is called Parade.

  • No, Parade is a different song; it's the one they play during all the crazy dream scenes with the dolls and the refrigerators.

  • Excellent Movie. Strong plot that stays strong the entire movie. Great animation, can be compared to that of Hayao Miyazaki, a must see movie.

  • Do you know the song in this video? I love it!

  • Girl in Byakkoya

  • I just want to see it again and again, it's so best :D

  • Thank you so much for posing this!!

I absolutey love this movie, and this song!

  • The movie is awsome! I especialy like the song, its one of my favorite things about it. ~.^

  • the stile remainds me of perfect blue and paranoia agent..

  • That's because all three were directed by the same man - Satoshi Kon.

  • i just watched the movie and loved it!

  • I have the 720p version of this and I'm very satisfied of how it looks given that this is an animation.

  • i want this on DVD so badly.

  • This movie is beautiful.

  • one of the best anime ever.

I loved the soundtrack and the whole concept of this film.

  • Great movie.

  • I love this song..

  • best movie of the year!

  • will you stop with the minus scores already, i'm trying to help those that haven't seen the movie yet. i'm happy to say it one more time, go to Veoh dot com to watch it. real good quality over there. now, keep throwing those minus at me if you like lol.

  • @HungryBeast Thanks alot for the info ^_^ (Veoh.com)

  • @MaieMaie1 u are welcome!! im glad ppl have found my post helpful after all..

  • It was a fantastic opening X3 - I adore the movie.

Wonder how there are such quality clips of the anime on the net already - Not that Im complaining. Thanks for the upload :)

  • i just saw the movie it rocks !!!!! you must see the movie !! you won't regret it! i promis!!

  • I want to see this movie badly. If it's directed by Satoshi Kon, you know it's going to be a worthy watch. I'm sure It will get picked up by a dubbing company soon., I hate reading subtitles.

  • If it ever comes to Sweden on DVD I might care.. but til then I have better movies and hotter manga babes to watch thank you very much.

  • Wtf, there ARE two different versions. Not only is the shirt different but so is the car at the end and the writing over it. Also, when she skips by in the hall she goes through the guy, but in the other version she shines over him like light. Wierd...wtf?

  • Obviously not if im asking :)

  • point taken

  • Man that pretty cool that she can jump from one thing to another. But is the girl in the red shirt, the one who driving the car at the end?

  • its her alter ego, didn't you see the movie?

  • say this yesterday , great movie

  • haha ~ i already have the dvd o(^_^)o

    lovelovelove it!

  • How'd you get it?

    Mes so jealous.

    ^^

  • How can I get ahold of this opening version of The Girl from Byakkoya?

  • I saw the movie about a week ago, I found it plain weird, but I liked it. Things the mind can do.............

  • I'm downloading the movie right now... i hopes its a good rip

  • best movie EVER

  • Even better if you look up on wikipedia the "Superflat" japanese pop art movement - you'll get a much better idea of what this film is trying to do. Sadly not everything will be understood and appreciated by westerners as this film is HEAVY with japanese social commentary.

  • What's the name of this song? I love the music!!

  • Susumu Hirasawa - The girl in Byakkoya ^-^ /

  • mediational field by susumu hirasawa. btw comapre this opening with the one uploaded by mattco. there are some differenences for instance the guy skating in 01:38 wears black while the one by mattco wears white... the one by mattco was what i watched in the theatres in singapore. r there like 2 different versions?

  • Amazing movie, I would recommend it for anyone interested. The soundtrack is also wonderful for anyone a fan of eletronic / techno, Hirasawa Susumu is a genius. <<

  • oh wait, found a rough translation on someone's lj. here's the url(spaced out) if anyone is interested...

    honyaku(dot)livejournal(dot)com(forward slash)1583(dot)html

the song is called "the girl in Byakkoya"

  • can neone give me the title of this soundtrack? who is it by

  • this version isn't "the girl in Byakkoya". it's "Meditational Field". "The Girl in Byakkoya" was the ending song for the movie which sounds exactly the same, only with lyrics.

  • thx :)

  • It really is the best movie of the year so far.

  • really wanna see that movie

  • Super-Duper-Dopeness! This looks awesome - thanks for posting!

  • Can anybody let me know when is this movie going to be released in Australia?

  • I love that movie so much....where did you download it.

  • Do yourself a favor and see it on the big screen if possible. Limited USA release next week.

  • Why would it be a limited release when I saw the trailers repeatedly?

  • Susumu Hirasawa

  • I love the opening song. Any idea who sang it?

  • Thank you for your post.

I remember have gone to the cinema without knowing Satoshi Kon. After the opening i was nearly shocked. It was marvelous. This film is perfect, can inspire all of us. This masterpiece is beautiful, deep, complex, funny, poetic. The music is very original, too.

PS: Satoshi Kon in an interview said this: "The cinema is choose to dream, and not to let invade by the dream"

  • thank you very much !!i saw the movie and it was great!!

but it looked like you pick this clip just from the film..coz the vids of the other people who posted the opening credits weren't so long as this one...

did you take it from dvd or...?

  • DVD screener is leaked on the net already search in torrentspy to find it thats where I downloaded this version

  • Perhaps if America were more accepting of foreign films, we here in the Midwest would have opportunities to catch potential masterpieces such as this.
