  • WOW! thank you so much for posting these. always wondered how it would sound if duncan sung the songs, although I love the cast's recordings. Duncan is my all time favorite song writer

  • Who sings this? Duncan Sheik or Ben Moss?

  • my friend killed himself and everytime i hear this song and think bout him and every time i cry

  • Damn.... in acting camp today, an acqantance was working on this song, and i had never known what it was about, and he told us about it. then i got sad. then our teacher told us to imagine it was OUR best friend or someone we really cared about in the coffin. he sang again, and everyone in the room was just bawling-including the singer. Most amazing thing EVER. period. T_T

  • when i saw Spring Awakening last night, when they were singing this i started crying. such a touching piece

  • Love this song.

  • i think this is really great, and for some reason, him not singing the last part an octave higher like in the CD gave it a dark like feel to it. it kind of made me feel like it was a forshadowing and something almost bad was gonna happen next. but thats just me

  • i love to hear how much gavin creel's voice has changed and improved within the past view years

  • this is duncan shiek?

    x

  • @bwaybaby333 It's not Gavin Creel, it's Duncan Sheik. The composer.

  • @bwaybaby333 it sounds nothing like gavin ever sounded.

  • this version fits more with the Play.

when Herr Stiefel is all "HES NOT MY SON!!!"

  • i first heard this the day my cat died. it sounds lame, but it's comforting yet so heart pulling.

  • I listened to this over and over when that happened to me. My kitty had been around since before I was born so I was really attached. )x

  • this song is sooooo beautiful.. <3

but i think the version on my CD is even better *gg*

  • This song is beautiful, but it breaks my heart every time I hear it.

  • i know when songs are really good when it gives me shivers because it sounds so beautiful, and this is giving me tons of shivers lol, does anyone else get the same feeling for really meaningful songs?

  • me too.

  • i feel the same.

  • yes.

  • Definitely.

  • I love this song; so beautiful, so sad. I was listening to the OBC recording of this song the day after the show closed and I burst into tears.

  • If you read the play like Wedekind's one...it makes alot more sense

  • this is fantastic. his voice goes so well with the song. <3

  • This is so heartbreaking I can barely stand to listen to it. What a gorgeous, poignant, and tragic song. Duncan Sheik is nothing short of genius.

  • wow crazy lyrics changes in the beginning!!! "scratch your head and wonder why he was your little gem".... wow wee...

  • Okay, so I'm not the only one that noticed that! I like the "You fold his hands and smooth his tie, you gently lift his chin" better!

  • I like this version a lot. It's cool to see how the song developed.
