we were both told that locks of love has NEVER distributed any wigs to any of their patients. My onchologist has the largest practice in the state and treats more kids with cancer than any in my state and has for over ten years. They don't even have literature about locks of love or any other wig related charity in their office.
Locks of love helps no one but themselves. They sell the wigs! They do NOT give them away. They also do NOT distribute them to cancer patients, I know because I am one and so was my late mother. we both asked our respective onchologists about this as we both had long hair and wanted to donate it.
@marc2789 no its helping kids that feel like shit becuz they have no hair but of ocurse u dont understand becuase u dont know how it feels to have cancer and no hair as a kid
Sadly, only about ten percent of donated hair is ever made into a wig ! The rest is sent to the dump, tragic for all of those who spent years growing their hair out in hopes of helping a cancer patient.
@chiliweenie That's not entirely true. It's 20% and there are many reasons why hair is rejected: not long enough, bleached, colored, moldy, wet, dirty, etc...
@chiliweenie It is even worse than you said. Locks of love takes in over 100,000 pony tails a year and over $350,000 a year yet they distribute only less than 200 wigs a year. This means it must require 500 wigs at a cost of over $3000 to produce a wig yet I can get one on Ebay for $200.
I want to thank you, as a mother of a child with Alopecia. And your hair looks great shorter! Next time you decide to donate, check into organizations that actually DONATE wigs to kids. A great one here is Wigs 4 Kids.

Good lord how dull were those scissors!? Seriously those were dull, I've seen barber scissors that the blades could slice paper with just the straight edge. Cute video though.

Locks of love is one of the most ridiculous and pathetic things ever created in U.S.A. - How can a nation like that devellop so many stupid things?
