Lu Bu is the BEST warrior at that time.no one can take him 1 on 1,you need at least 3 or 4 of ur best warriors to just compete with him.he only died becuz hes not a good person and he doesnt have brain.Hes a pure warrior on the battle field tho,i take him over anyone if its just for fighting!
This is that encounter? real life is boring by comparison....where's all the incoherent shouting, the explosions, and crushing footsoldiers underfoot.
lu bu's overrated in novel. He was a great warrior for sure and he was even a really good archer but historically, he was not the strongest. since they do most of the fighting on horse, horses had to be big, strong, and tireless. the 3 bros were not so wealthy so they did not have good horses and lu bu had the best horse of the era. but lu bu with red hare couldn't kill zhang fei with weak horse. So it is safe to assume that their skill was pretty much equal.
@Dragonmanxx5 better horse would mean faster and more durable horse so it affects movement speed and manuverability... And back then the 3 bros were very poor so they had bad horses. obviously warrior's ability is really important but horse would make a lot of difference.
Lu Bu was from Jiuyuan (maybe spelled wrong?) thats modern day Mongolia right? So Lu Bu is technically Mongolian or Tibetan, true story?
He obviously a war monger like Mongolians and very tough violent dude. Is this one of the reasons it was so hard for him to fit in with the Chinese or want to serve under them? Any true East asians or historians know this?
@Dragonmanxx5 Lu was indeed born in where we call Inner Mongolia today. But "Lu" is a Han Surname and is by no means a Mongolian one. There were many Han Chinese who lived in foreign territory. Ma Chao's grandfather was sent to duty in North Western China and he married a Qiang Woman, therefore Ma Teng was half Han and half foreign and Ma Chao was a quarter Qiang. Sadly little of Lu Bu's early life was recorded in the history books.
@Dragonmanxx5 uhh this show is based on a novel( A NOVEL) that is loosely based on historical writings on and from the TK. Lu Bu fighting 3 brothers is fictional as only THE NOVEL says this happened. REAL HISTORICAL SOURCES have no trace of this event. Cao Cao's first loss was against Dong Zhuo novel speaking.
@Dragonmanxx5 i didn't say anything about his heritage >.>
loosely based. Exaggeration for ex. General kills general in duel, exaggeration = general kills general in duel using two fingers. Much of the events, characters and places were invented by Luo Guanzhong.
@Dragonmanxx5 Ma Chao was mixed with Qiang people,a sino-tibetan speaking ethnic group that historically lived in northwestern China(now mostly in southwestern China). There is no proof that Sun Quan was mixed.
Far as Sun Quan in Dynasty warriors 7 Trivia questions (most up to date on DW facts) or game description of him, cant remember. But it is said he had red hair cause he had the blood of another people. Im guessing some type of west Asian group? Also remember Sun Jian was a traveler, wouldn't doubt if he bedded women of other races time to time.
@Dragonmanxx5 No,south part of inner Mongolia was historically considered part of central plains as well.In fact during that time there were no mongols existing in the world history stage, the mongol land during that time was occupied by the Huns,Xianbeis and other ethnicities.Part of Huns escaped to the west while the rest assimilated into China gradually throughout the history, the Xianbeis were also assimilated in the end.So the Mongolia lands became empty and was occupied by the mongols.
@Dragonmanxx5 I think the possibility is low.... during that time the sinicization level of Hun remains in China was still low,and Lv wasn't a typical chinese surname for Huns, most Huns changed their surnames to Liu,Gongsun,Dugu and so on
@Dragonmanxx5 liu and gongsun were both common han chinese surnames in ancient times, but nowadays gongsun has become an extremely rare surname while liu grew and became a super huge surname in china with diverse origins of populations.Gongsun first started as a han surname but later on was adopted by many assimilated huns,so in another word people with surname gongsun have two branches of origins, one from han chinese and the other from the huns
@Dragonmanxx5 No,that is too exaggerated, most of these three kingdoms characters got famous because of literature works,in reality there were much more historical figures in china's history who were more fierce than them, such as Huo Qubing&Li Guang of Han Dynasty who fought off the Huns,Xue Rengui and Su Dingfang of Tang Dynasty who conquered Baekje,Goguryeo and turks,Chang Yuchun of MIng Dynasty who fought off the mongolian yuan dynasty....
If I remember correctly, this was still pretty early in everyone's military experience. I would've loved to see a rematch between Lubu and Zhang Fei/Guan Yu during the latter's prime.
@chess1212 The idea of the duel was not simply to kill the opponent, it was to lower the moral of the enemy and raise the moral of your army by besting their warrior in a duel. Such a method, while it would have been easier to kill him as a result, would be taken as cheating by his army, which would have been motivated out of rage. The idea was to humiliate their best warriors, thereby devastating their morale.
How is it retarded? Mounted duels are the most common. To retreat, or escape if needed. What if it was an ambush. How the fuck are you gonna run away?
@baYa251 They're called duels, if they were powerful like Lu Bu they would challenge the other side's generals; to kill them would boost morale. Many generals fled at the sight of Lu Bu because they didn't want to duel him, thus almost guaranteeing the enemy's defeat..
Lol, seriously? Gameplay has never changed since DW2: it's still the same old "kill everything" rehashed rubbish every time. If you were to look up 'stagnant' in a dictionary, there'd probably be a refernece to Dynasty Warriors.

actually, both the tv show and DW are based on a novel that was written 500 years ago. The novel is in turn based on a historical record written in the 3rd century. the actual history happened roughly between 190-280 AD

@ppshchik Yes, that is all true, but you also have to remember Lu Bu was adopted.
The fact he was adopted by Chinese maybe be the only reason he has his name.
I know Ma Chao was mixed. Sun Quan was also mixed.
Dragonmanxx5 8 months ago
@Dragonmanxx5 How was he adopted? Him being Ding Yuan and Dong Zhuo's adopted son is fictional AFAIK, he's just a general.
ppshchik 8 months ago
@ppshchik Proof this is fictional please?
What is AFAlK?
He was a general turned warlord. Who was strong enough to beat Liu Bei and give Cao Cao his first lose.
If his followers werent such cowards he may have had a much more major impact in Chinese history.

actually, both the tv show and DW are based on a novel that was written 500 years ago. The novel is in turn based on a historical record written in the 3rd century. the actual history happened roughly between 190-280 AD
