6 miles away and it was that loud still? The ground shakes at that distance???

YES it did... this wasn't an ISS flight (ISS launches move away from the space center towards the North East). This launch headed straight East, which is why I guess it was louder, since the shuttle moved parallel to our position.  Check the video, turn up the bass, & see for yourself...
